Date of transaction: 5/24/2025 Amounts charged: $913.92 and $514.08, total of $1428.The business was hired to winch out my vehicle out of 10 in of snow. They did provide that service. The actual winching out lasted 10 minutes.Since I was in an area with poor cellphone service, I asked my friend to hire them over the phone. Upon hiring them, they said to expect an $800 minimum bill. They later said the bill was going to add up because there was a road closure. I agreed to this and my friend told them so.The nature of the dispute is this: I called them to clarify why the invoice I got via email is billing 5 hours at a rate of $250 and states the hours of service including travel time are from 9:39 AM to 1:40 PM. They also billed some fuel surcharge. The business first claimed 9:39 AM to 1:40 PM is 5 hours. When I pointed out that is only 4 hours, the person on the phone claimed that in that case they have a 5-hour minimum service. I said neither my friend nor I were ever told about any amount of minimum hours. The customer service representative over the phone got extremely rude and he aggressively said it was not his fault that my friend did not retain or understand this. I triple checked with my friend and she never got told about this 5-hour minimum rule. The guy over the phone was arrogant and unwilling to listen to me or resolve the problem, hence why Im asking for help.I would like to know how they calculated the fuel surcharge since we were not told upfront about ***** like to get an explanation on the hourly rate theyre charging after the fact - we were never given an estimate of $250. They had initially said $800 total. With no road blockage it would have been a 3 hour job including travel time, so the math doesnt add ***** main request is to get billed for 4 hours instead of 5, given that the service actually lasted 4 hours and that we were not told upfront they had any minimum hours. From this experience, this business was overall really abusive.

After seeing a review left on ********, the President of the company brought this to my attention as a matter to address immediately. The next morning I started compiling information from staff who had involvement and downloaded call recordings and GPS tracking. I called Ms. ********* to touch base with her directly. ****** shared with me her view of the events during this stressful situation and our company's failure to properly communicate. We take full responsibility for that and agree that as soon as she had concerns, this should have been escalated to management or owners. We did her a disservice by not being able to explain rationally and with care and professionalism the fee structure and what a port to port charge means and why. Our dispatch also failed to clear the call when the driver was back in service area as they should have. The call time 'clear' was done prematurely as he was not back in an area where he could be utilized for other jobs. He was not available until 3pm. We received the call at 09:16, went enroute at 9:39 and was back in service at 3:04pm.

As Ms. ********* describes in her complaint, they were located in a very remote area in the *****************. We had to drive to eastern ********** area to access though **************. Response time to access her was several hours even though once we arrive the job of winching her vehicle from it's predicament was relatively swift. We understand that this- can then be frustrating when the job at hand seems to have been rectified so quickly.

Ms. ********* and I had a wonderful conversation talking about her frustrations and how this should've been handled differently. I, myself am an avid hiker and if I had been in her situation I would've felt the exact same way. We did refund back to her $500/tax. We strive to provide a service modeled in customer care, transparency and that brings comfort in a time that is undoubtedly stressful. That did not happen for Ms. ******************* will also be addressing this in retraining and group work with our staff as a whole, to hopefully not have this happen again.

Good day,He Ming, we apologize for the discrepancy in the hourly rate charged for our services, along with uncertainty of damage. We are committed to providing exceptional service and support to all customers. You have voiced concern regarding the $324.62 charge for service provided, which comprises the $297 hourly rate plus 9.3% sales tax, contracted between *********************** and Registered Tow Truck Operators under RCW Chapter *****. After reviewing photos taken on scene from the location of the winch out service provided, the photos reveal your vehicle left the interstate, went through grass, mud and entered an embankment at an incline. The tow truck operator who was on scene stated that *********************** had other similar accidents in this area all within the same time frame and all vehicles being driven too fast for conditions. Notably, photos show your ******* bumper was damaged prior to our intervention and were inflicted before and/or from the accident and documented before the tow truck operator touched the vehicle. We welcome further questions or concerns directly to our office. We value your feedback.

I am rejecting this response because: From the photo you can see the bumper is on my car. After he drag my out with my wheel braked, the bumper is off. I asked the driver where I can put my bumper, he said I can put in my back seat.
It the truck drag my car damaged bumper. If he lift my car or do it carefully, instead drag my car with a steel rope. It won't broken my bumper mount racket.

      Sincerely,

Thank you for your response. As stated previously, the vehicle exited the interstate in heavy rain at high speed, traversed difficult terrain, and eventually stopped. The vehicle had already incurred significant damage to its bumper when the driver arrived on scene, as captured in photographs taken by the tow operator before recovery efforts began. The photographs show that the vehicle's bumper was taped on, dented, scratched and justifies the bracket/racket damage mentioned was not caused by the recovery that the tow operator performed. The damage you described was either self-inflicted before the accident or resulted from the November 11th incident. We are not willing to take responsibility for damage that existed prior to the accident. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact our office.

I am rejecting this response because:
From the photos you provided,  you can clearly see my bumper is on. After you drag my car, the bumper is broken, like the picture.

Before the bumper is useable, after broken, it's not able to mount.

because drag of th car, it make bumper broken apart.

The fees are contracted, compliant, and filed with the Washington State Patrol as well as the Snohomish **************************** The Snohomish County Sheriff had the vehicle impounded after recovering the vehicle as a stolen impound, noted on the authorization to impound, two attempts were made to the registered owner before impounding the abandoned stolen vehicle. The impound is regulated under RCW chapter *****. The fees accrued through today are less than $700.00 dollars and the vehicle has been impounded since August 17th. This October, my **** ***** Tahoe was towed from **** by dicks towing. The truck was driven and parked in that spot by the ******* police. I showed up a few days later to pay the nearly $770.00 to retrieve my vehicle. I started filming a video before I even entered the yard. My tire was flat, my key wouldn't work in the ignition indicating it had been tampered with and broken. The driver had to work the key for approximately 2 minutes to get the truck to start. When my ***** attempts to put it in gear completely failed, it was obvious the truck was towed without using *****'s and destroyed my transmission. The driver became rude. My trucks transmission has approximately ****** miles on it. My truck was in VERY good working order. The ******* police officer will submit a statement saying the was in good working condition when HE parked it. The truck was completely undrivable. The transmission is totaled. Dicks towing did not have the correct address on file, even though I gave them my new address. I reached out to the owner 7 times, sent emails left messages trying to resolve this. I was never contacted by "the owner" I have all my documentation and my 6:00 minute video of the damage. This formal complaint is launched as my last effort to get in contact with Dicks Towing before I take them to court. My truck was in perfect driving condition, Dicks towing towed in less than a mile, leaving it 100% undrivable condition destroying a number of areas as shown on my video. My truck was not worth a very large sum of money, however I not going to let them damage my belongings then not be held accountable. I have given ample time, had numerous efforts to communicate and nothing AT ALL in return. This complaint can hopefully help others dealing with business. Thank you BBB, have a nice day

In response to the Vehicle Impounded at the request of the authorized person from the property at 7-Eleven at the address off *****************************************************************************************************, registered to ********************************

On October 14, 2023, at 2:32pm, we received a request from an authorized signer from 7-Eleven where Dicks Towing has private property impound signs posted pursuant to RCW 46.55.070. The business requested we come to remove a **** Chevrolet Tahoe K1500. The 7-Eleven representative stated that the vehicle had been abandoned for over 24-hours. We completed the private property impound from the 7-Eleven property and towed the vehicle to the nearest Dicks Towing impound yard located in *******. All correspondence herein after were completed pursuant to RCW 46.55.

As stated by ***********************************, the vehicle was driven and parked in a spot at 7-Eleven by a ******* ***************** officer. We were not onsite to witness this action and as stated by the 7-Eleven staff the vehicle had been unattended, unlocked, and left in the parking lot for over 24-hours. We are unaware of any activities that could have occurred to the vehicle while being abandon in the parking lot and or the condition of the vehicle was left. When the driver from Dicks Towing arrived, the Chevrolet Tahoe had a preexisting flat tire. ******************** is accusing Dicks Towing of towing the vehicle without dollies. The Chevrolet Tahoe was towed by a 2018 Freightliner M2 Flatbed. When a vehicle is towed on the deck of a flatbed dollies are not needed. The vehicle was on the deck and no tires were on the ground while towing. No damage could have occurred to the transmission from being towed correctly on the flatbed tow truck. The well-trained Dicks Towing driver that was onsite used skates to winch the Tahoe onto the flatbed from the rear and to avoid any destruction to the vehicles transmission or any further mechanicals. The driver never had any reason to access the ignition to tow. The ignition was not tampered with and/or damaged by Dicks Towing as mentioned by *********************

******************** mentioned we had sent the notices to the incorrect address. The impound notice had been sent to the last known registered owner and address on file with the **************** ********** of ********* pursuant to RCW 46.55.110. The private property impound was also reported to the ************************ Office at the time of impound as required in case the registered owner is unaware of the location of the impounded vehicle. The hourly rate and daily storage for the private property impound is accurate and the fee schedule has been filed by Dicks Towing with the department in pursuant of RCW 46.55.118.

******************** had multiple conversations with our staff regarding the vehicle and conditions. As stated, ******************** had come into the ******* office to view the vehicle and collect personals. When he came into the office to collect personals, he was also presented the Right of Redemption with the right to request a hearing form to contest the validity of the impound and/or the towing and storage fees.  The staff had also discussed pricing over the phone and explained that if he were to come in during business hours, an afterhours fee could be avoided to save money. The **** Chevrolet K1500 Tahoe was sold at public auction on 11/11/2023 and an outstanding balance of $500.00 is still owed by ********************. All particulars pertaining to the impound had been accurately answered. Dicks Towing was unaware of any further unresolved matters concerning the impound, impound fees or any damages of the **** Chevrolet Tahoe K1500 registered to ******************************* and were unaware any further communication was needed.

      Thank you,

      Complaint: 21026196

I am rejecting this response because:

I am not rejecting where the car was towed from or the location that it was towed to. I have been in contact with ******* police and the officer who drove my perfectly working vehicle into the parking stall with fill out an affidavit saying that my truck was perfect running order, free of any flat tires and no ignition problem, nor shifting problems.

I have two separate videos one 5:08 minutes and the other approximately 2:00 minutes in duration showing the damage down to my truck. I took this video as I walking up to tow yard, before I saw any of damage to my truck. The video clearing shows all the damage that was done to my vehicle, and the angry, stressed out driver who was identified as the same driver who towed my vehicle. Tow companies in **************** are bound by law to pay any and all damages sustained by the tow company in any capacity. I attempted to shift my truck into drive, and was unable to. Strangely enough the ******* police officer has stated the vehicle was in "perfect working order" when he drove and parked my vehicle.

The only reason why I have not posted the damage done to my truck by D*** Towing **** is because the allotted file size maximum is only 8MB. The videos I shot are his resolution and to long to post in this capacity. My attorney ****************** is helping me to file this in small claims court. I almost have all my due diligence in order subsequently Dicks Towing **** will be served a summons in complaint.

I understand the towing cost of my vehicle was $500.00.  I am happy to pay that. However the they must reimburse me for the cost of totalling ****************** truck had ****** miles on brand new rebuilt transmission that was done at shop in Tacoma. As stated above I will be filing a small claims suit against D*** Towing ****    I am launching this complaint on this platform as my frustration to get a hold of the owner "who handles all these kinds of complaints" and after NUMEROUS attempts to call or email said owner failed miserably. The validity of this BBB complaint IS valid and not without merit. So once again I will be filing soon. Thank you Dicks Towing for your reply, I am not refuting the location of the tow, the vehicle or the driver who towed it. Just in fact you absolutely destroyed a perfect running vehicle with complete negligence.

Thank BBB for this platform. I appreciate what your business represents to us small people to little or no voice in the face of companies who take advantage of the common man/woman with little adherence to the law whatsoever.

      Sincerely,

      *******************************

My car was stolen and I filed a police report, case #***************, with the ********** ****************** It was found abandoned on southbound I-5 and I received a phone call from the State Patrol at 1:30 am. ****'s Towing was already at the scene and it was being loaded. I was informed it would cost me almost $500 to get my car that morning. It's been 9 days in the impound yard at $66 a day. I can not afford to pay for my stolen vehicle to be returned. When I offered to sign over the title to ****'s Towing they told me that I had to pay them over $550 plus $66 a day before they would accept the title. The fact that I'm a victim of a crime does not matter to them. They don't have any policy to help ease my burden. My only means of transportation is my car. I'm trying to get my car back and I'm unable to do so because I don't have the money. I tried to borrowing the money and by the time I have enough to pay for it it's well past what funds I could scrape together to pay for it. It's highway robbery. ****'s Towing is committing highway robbery and Theft and they're doing it under the cover of a towing business. I am a victim and cannot do anything else because they want me to pay them way more money than I'll earn in three months. I want my stollen car back and the bill reduced to an agreeable amount under $500, which I could pay. I provided a copy of the text message to prove that the car was reported stolen l. As a victim of a crime I should not be penalized. Please help. They need to be stopped. Even if my vehicle is auctioned off and sold for the highest bidder, I will be responsible for the remaining balance of over $1,000. It's not right to victimize people who are already victims of theft.

In response to the Vehicle Impounded at the request of **************** Patrol, registered to ****************************

On November 20th at 12:59am, we received a request by WSP Dispatch to respond to the location of SB I-5 mile Post 205, to impound an abandoned vehicle. Our driver arrived on scene at 1:30am and was provided an authorization to impound the stolen vehicle, pursuant to RCW.46.55.113

We completed the impound at their request and towed it to our nearest location in Marysville. All correspondence herein after was completed pursuant to RCW 46.55.100.

****************** is correct, that she is the victim of a crime and we absolutely sympathize for her. The only protection one has is to cover the vehicle with sufficient insurance, or in a few cases that the person who stole the vehicle is caught and the registered Owner is able to be recompensed for the charges they accrued due to the theft. There is also an opportunity to apply for the **************** Victims Compensation Fund.

****************** was supplied a court form from us, to appeal the Impound WSP initiated, and also to contest the fees accrued on the vehicle. There was a hearing on January 11th at the ********************** in *********, with Judge ********, the initiating Officer from WSP, and a Representative from our company. Judge ******** heard the testimony of ******************, and the Officer who requested the Tow. Even though the circumstances were unfortunate, **********; ******** found the request to impound was valid, as ****************** did not answer the phone number she provided to ***************** at the time she made the stolen report. The Officer made a number of attempts to reach her, prior to calling for the vehicle to be impounded. We then gave testimony in regard to the fees, that are set statutorily every year, by the **************** Patrol and filed with ********** of ********** All fees were in accordance with State Law as well. The Judge also provided information to ****************** about a program providing financial assistance to victims of crimes, to which ****************** stated she was not eligible for because of a previous investigation of a personal matter. After the impound hearing concluded, our Representative waited to speak with ******************, and offered for her to call and discuss a payment plan or reduced fees. As of today, 01/18/23 ****************** has not reached out to our representative.
