I have a gas furnace and contacted Barron Heating for an estimate for Heat pump system. (Aug 2023)********************* (Home Performance Expert) came and gave me an estimate ($11,171.52) on the equipment that will be installed and how the system will be retrofitted on my gas furnace system and how they will enlarge the RETURN on the top and cap off the bottom.Around Sept/Oct, the system was installed but upon visual inspection of model number on the condenser unit, it was a totally different model, a cheaper model with a different metering o****** The RETURN also is making a whizzing noise indicating a volume problem. I worked with them so they dont have to spend more labor and cost on replacing the unit - ******************* (Outside sales manager) added additional warranty for the system.I have to travel out of the country, so when I returned I called them about the whizzing noise. A technician came and troubleshooted in down to a redesign of the RETURN.Today March 19, ********************* called me and said that he was informed by the technician about the volume problem and now was telling me there will be a COST involved if I want the RETURN re-worked.This is totally unfair specially after working with them about the breached contract on the condenser unit. I believe they need to fix the issue on the RETURN without the customer bearing the cost.

    Business Response

    Date: 03/22/2024

    Dear Better Business Bureau,

We are writing in response to ********************* complaint about his recent encounter with Barron Heating Services. We value the opportunity to address his grievances and explain the steps we have taken to rectify the situation.

With regard to the condensing coil model, we concede that there was a deviation from the originally quoted equipment. It is imperative to highlight that the coil installed is of equivalent or superior quality compared to the initially quoted one. However, it is crucial to note that this decision was made with the customer's best interests in mind, aiming to ensure the proper AHRI number was obtained. The coil installed was better suited for Mr. ******** system, and it came at a higher cost to Barron, a cost that was not passed on to Mr. ******* Understanding his concerns and his perspective on the change, we took steps to address them, including extending an additional two years of coverage to compensate for the warranty discrepancy. Describing this as a "breach of contract" is inaccurate, as our actions not only benefited Mr. ****** but also incurred added costs to Barron.

Regarding the noise issue with the return, while we are committed to delivering exceptional service, it is important to clarify that we cannot indefinitely pursue noise issues arising from existing materials or equipment. However, we are dedicated to resolving this specific concern to Mr. ******** satisfaction. We will undertake necessary modifications at no extra cost to him, including installing a custom cabinet, adjusting the return plenum, and aligning the return grills more effectively. These adjustments are aimed at minimizing any noise disturbances and enhancing the overall performance of the **** system. Nevertheless, these changes, provided at no cost, are the only alterations Barron will cover. The architectural design of Mr. ******s house, combined with the type of equipment purchased, cannot guarantee the complete elimination of noise.

Barron was in the process of addressing their concerns. Barron did not demand payment before seeking resolution, and we were not given the opportunity to discuss prior to this complaint.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 03/30/2024

The issue is not yet resolved, but I am in communication with ******************* of Barron Heating and gave him a date when I will be back from travel so we can get the issue resolved.
