I had pretty much the same treatment that Spikomstic did. I went to this place because I needed to detox off fentanyl and diazapam that I was given post surgery for pain which I took for too long. I went to Milam to get off the narcotic and benzodiazepines. They stopped giving me my antidepressents; Trazodone and Effexor. They put me in a room right next to the door that opened to the smoking area and it was ******** The door was heavy metal and was opened every 5 minutes and the smoke and freezing cold air would come right into my room and I had to keep the door to my room open. I couldnt sleep or eat I was too sick and I lay in bed getting up to vomit or diarrhea. No one ever came in my room to check on me ever. I felt like I was dying, I have never felt that sick in my life. I finally told them I was leaving to go home. I was going to find another detox. They tried everything to keep me there, wouldnt let me call 911 or my friends or family or give me my clothes. So I walked in the freezing cold snow in my pajamas and slippers, up a big hill to the fire station and called a cab and went home to my own bed. The next day I went to the emergency department to get checked out and my blood pressure was through the roof, severely dehydrated and they told me it was good I got there in time because I easily could have had a stroke. The hospital said they treated a lot of patients that came from Milam, that were withdrawing from drugs and that Milam had no idea how to detox addicts off of drugs and they put many lives at risk. I went to another treatment center, all women and it was really nice and they put me in a beautiful room that was so quiet. I stayed 30 days and am still sober. Please dont go to Milam. a horrible pace to get off drugs. My experience was 15 years ago and I am sober and in AA and anyone that comes to a meeting after getting off drugs that had experiences with detoxing at Milam say it is still the same, a nightmare experience.
