I hired the company in November 2023 to remove and sell items from the home of my elderly neighbor in preparation for her to sell it. The contract says that they charge $2900 to recover and salvage all sellable items, half due up front and half due once all sales final. They removed vans worth of stuff: antique boiler, antique work bench, tools, art supplies, wood doors/glass door knobs, original art pieces, antique light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, costume jewelry, and so on. They completed hauling things out on January 7, 2023. By March 10, I had heard nothing from them. I reached out and they said they'd be done by end of March. I asked for an update April 13 and they left me a voicemail that they were "almost done" and would wrap up tomorrow. 2 months passes and I sent a message on June 19. They responded June 21st that they were travelling and would get back to me next week. No contact for 2 more months. I sent them a message 8/21 to which they did not respond. Today I sent them a message that I was completing a formal complaint with BBB and they called within 2 minutes. They said sales didn't do well and they would send a check for $500. In the contract, they estimated the potential net return to be $2500-$4500. I am 100% certain if I had not pushed and pushed and pushed, they would have just taken off with a 95 year old woman's money AND her belongings. I think a fair resolution (I still think it's a rip off) would be to return the $1450 in addition to the $500 they say they are sending.

As the executor for my aunt's estate, on January 10, 2022, I contracted with Cosmopolitan Hoarder Estate Services, LLC to clean out the contents of my aunt's home, and sell items based on the attached contract. They emptied and cleaned the house as agreed, and I paid the initial fees required. Per contract, and multiple conversations, the next steps would be to sell items displayed in their warehouse and apply the proceeds to first pay any additional fees due, and then split the rest as profit. To date-they have only provided one "reconciliation" in July 2022. The invoice seemed very unprofessional to me, and frankly it wasn't easy to understand but ultimately still showed a balance due to them. We discussed it at the time and **** assured me they expected additional sales to cover the remaining costs and emphasized (as he usually did) that it should be enough to cover all costs and result in payments to us. I have followed up with **** and Cheryl (the owners) numerous times since then and they kept promising another reconciliation and assured me that things have sold well. However, they haven't contacted me back (even with their typical vague promises) since March 9, 2023, and I've called and texted a couple of times since then. Although my aunt had a lot of lower priced items-she also had antiques, furniture and notably-several artworks that M&C assured me would bring in good money and they even added extra charges for racks to display the art on. One painting included in the only reconciliation sold for $5,000.We talked and/or texted and I visited their warehouse sporadically in 2022 without any issues-I expected the process to take a year or so. Then I attempted to begin wrapping up the estate in early 2023 and we had several messages back and forth, including text strings from January-March 2023, with various versions of the "reconciliation is in the mail." I have tried a couple of times since but had no response since March 9, 2023.
