  On 11/13/24 a plumber came out to clear a double sink vanity drain. I had a "$100 drain clean" coupon on a direct mail postcard. The company said they would waive their dispatch fee. He tried to get a snake down, but said it couldn't be cleared because it wasn't plumbed correctly. He wanted to cut open drywall to examine and replace the plumbing and the minimum was $400 and it would go up from there, depending on what they found. I paid them the $100 (he took the coupon mailer) and said I would think about it. I called them on 11/18 and told them that I had photo proof that it was plumbed correctly. They sent another plumber out, he looked at the photo, acknowledged it was correct. He said he would try to clear the drain at no additional charge, but would charge over $400 per drain to re-assemble the p-traps! Their coupon is a scam. The coupon is their dispatch fee, and they don't do any work for under $400. The second ********* estimate to charge me over $400 per p-trap is essentially them recovering their minimum cost for both plumbers.

  The customer did use our $100 drain cleaning coupon which is what she paid for and the work was done as per our contract and the coupon that states that the $100 amount doesn't include gaining access to the drain if needed, extra cables, jetting or camera inspection. The customer did not want to pay for the extra work that needed to be done but we did the work that we where contracted to do

  I am rejecting this response because:

  My complaint was regarding the outrageously excessive charge to reattach p-traps, rather than a 2nd attempt to snake the drain under the coupon. 
  

  I did however receive an apology from the Comptroller. So this matter is dropped in my opinion. ****** learned. Their coupon is a ruse for a $400+ job.
