    12/7/2022 - $719.40 We purchased a home in *******, ** in September 2020. Since purchase we had issues with our minisplit heating/cooling system. Advanced Mechanical Systems (AMS) installed the system. We spent 2021 attempting to work with the home builder and AMS to fix heating/cooling issues without success. Our heating and cooling system did not keep the house warm during the winter or cool during the summer. We attempted to find another HVAC company to work with during the end of 2021 and into 2022, however, the multiple places we contacted did not fix ****** minisplit systems. We reached back out to AMS and they visited multiple times during 2022. We were not charged for a few visits, then in Fall 2022 we were charged for the technicians time. Initially, we were informed when scheduling that we were under warranty. Later, AMS refused to attend the home until we paid despite the system still not functioning after prior work. After we contested the bill we were informed *** was contracted only with the home's builder, EJ Builder's, and we were not under warranty. One technician during a visit stated that the system was initially installed incorrectly with the refrigerant tubes installed wrong which led to improper cycling of the coolant. Ultimately, our understanding is that this resulted in failure one minisplit motor and control board (each had to be replaced). Later, *** informed us the coolant level was incorrect; coolant they had installed during a previous fix; they then partially drained to allow the system to function properly. AMS replaced the motor under warranty but stated the technician's time was no longer covered and out of warranty. The company changed what they told us regarding warranty coverage. We received a letter in which they did not document all relevant information. They report needing biannual maintenance service, however, in speaking with another HVAC company they recommend annual maintenance.
