This was from quite a while ago but was especially heinous and at the time i was not familiar with bbb. Around 10 years ago while i was living in ********* **. It was as i recall a debt from a hospital that was in itself i felt rather negligent in its care of me. So the debt was bought by Atlas and then fees piled on and eventually a court date where it gets worse. I was given a court date and when i appeared in court i found out i was given the wrong date so they gave me a new one. Looking at my 2 bank accounts after this i found out they had been given access to a bank account of mine which luckily only had a few dollars in it and they took out 10$ which was all they could get. The letter from the court said i needed to sent a letter to the complainant and the judge which i did. Anyway when i got ot court the judge asked atlas if i had sent a signed affidavit to them. They said no only a letter. The judge said some things i didn't understand which meant i lost on a technicality. First off from watching television it seems to me that was double jeopardy because after they actioned a lien on my account which did they little good they proceeded to try again hoping i wouldn't know the difference. Then the judge rules against me on a technicality. My guess is some courts purposely ask for letters so the unlearned will not send a signed affidavit which is what they mean. *********************************************************** is the address of the civil court where i went. It seems to me the courts get a lot of business and fees from collection agencies and whenever they can to return the favor they rule in their favor to keep the ball rolling.

Atlas financial services got a court order for me to pay them a debt with a huge amount of interest that was generated over time when they failed to contact me to let me know I even had a debt. They say they looked my info up at the dmv but I don't have a license and don't bother changing my address with them. However, they WERE able to contact me immediately after getting the order. They deliberately let the interest accrue before reasonably contacting me.

These efforts continued effectively until most the judgment was fully satisfied. ****************** then later satisfied the judgement account on his own.

Atlas Financial Services filed for a default judgement on a case beyond statute of limitations. I was not contacted regarding the request to collect the debt, I was not verified that the debt was mine, and the debtor filed judgement in 3/2022 and I am just now receiving notice through my employer that I will be garnished as of 4.10.2023. The judgement was not signed by a judge and the case clearly listed "closed" in 2011 through Multnomah County Court.
