      I had inquired about canceling my Anytime Fitness Membership via email on September 17th 2021 . the email reads as follow;"Morning, I'd like to please cancel my membership with Selah Anytime fitness.Please let me know when my last day would be , so I can drop off my key.Thanks in advance,*****"To that they replied ;"****************, What in the world was making you want to cancel your membership with us?We would hate to see you go."There response to me sounded almost like a hurt X-partner not wanting to see you leave. It wasn't professional , and never stated I was still locked in . Now I was under the impression that this contract would be canceled. I wasn't told otherwise. I stopped coming in all together. However I recently noticed that my card was still getting charged. A total of 11 months , with different charged amounts. I reached out to figure out why I had been charged when I was under the impression I had canceled my membership fall of 2021. They asked If I could come in the office . We scheduled a appointment for 08/16/2022 @7am , I went waited for like 20 mins , no one ever came in to help. I should mention I waited outside the gym because I no longer had a key to get in. I called , left a voicemail , even emailed them again . Nothing .I then get a reply about how something had came up . I replied how I again wanted to get a full refund for the months they had charged me . When I was under the impression my member ship was canceled . They then sent me a questionnaire and told me I would not be getting a refund at all .This whole thing has been a nightmare. We're talking about almost $600 dollars. They should have been clear about how my membership wasn't canceled back in 2021 . Back in 2021 I was in-between job due to the pandemic and money was very tight . I was taken advantage of my this organization , now they refuse to refund me money that belongs to me.

      I wanted to reach out as a follow up to this complaint that we received.

       

      We have spoken with the member regarding this matter; Proper cancellation policies were not followed, and as a result the account was never originally cancelled. In regards to how we responded to her original inquiry to cancel, we simply wished to ask what the reason was for her desire to cancel, as a form of empathy; We'd hate to see any of our members cancel their memberships before they could reach their health goals, simply because we place a priority on health and wellness, first and foremost. Our members are more than "Just members" at our clubs; We wish to be able to make meaningful changes to their lives, to any capacity.

       

      In good faith, our clubs have decided to refund the amount that was paid over the course of this past ***** months, and we have reached out to all parties involved to inform them of this action. We do wish her the best in the future, and hope that she continues to strive to reach her health and fitness goals.
