Do not hire Buckshot General Contracting without getting at least 12 references from their previous customers with your specific construction needs. They are not the "specialized" company they claim to be. We had a storm called a derecho, and a tree fell through our roof. We hired Buckshot (BGC) because their estimator that we met with knew what he was talking about and gave us examples of the company's work on old historic houses like what we have. But then that estimator left the company. The crews who came to re-shingle our roof worked very fast and left some structural damage unrepaired. That was in September of 2020. BGC kept telling us that they will come back to finish the job. But they couldn't seem to get their "specialized" workers to be available. The new project manager assigned to us kept telling us that the estimator we met with was a problem for the company. It took until April of 2022 to complete *most* of the repairs. Once they thought they had completed the job, they sent us a bill for more than the contract amount. But I kept the original contract based on the itemized insurance report. I offered to pay them for what they did complete, but not what they didn't complete. They then put a mechanics lien on our house, filed with the State of Iowa. I negotiated a price with them, paid them for the work that they completed, and they removed the lien. But there are still several parts of the roof project that I now need to hire another contractor to fix. My advice - if you ask BGC for an estimate, ask them about the work they did in Van Horne, IA and Cedar Rapids, IA after the August 2020 derecho. You'll need to ask for several specific references. They may have some "satisfied customers" from all of those jobs. But there are several more who are not satisfied.

***** and I have spoken several times. We did have a project manager that left the company midway through the project. He left a lot of unfinished work when he left on several projects. We did not preform well on this job, but were finally able to complete the work. We did our best to clean up his jobs and complete them in a somewhat timely manner. ***** and I had discussed the issues and the items were removed from the invoice. We had settled on an amount due and both chose to walk away. I assumed when we removed the lien after his payment, this was resolved. Didnt expect to now have to deal with this.
