Project first got done March 28th 2022 Completely c*** job ended up having to call mad city for lack of care from two gentleman doing job.-big concern is they were careless of their tools and dropped a saw blade in my livingroom that my 2 year old got a hold of. Thank heavens she didnt get hurt. Left many scratches and on filled spots on this projects. First day came and works only about 4 hrs. Stated they were almost done but next day came from 7 am to 10pm.. paid ****** for a project in December 2021 got put on a wait list for this project to get done march 2022 just to get told they had to come in and redo the job again wasnt til the end of April 2022 that we got it done right. The company promised to work with us to work out a discount for our trouble and the danger of the saw blade my daughter got into also the mess they left behind for us to clean up onto of the plumbing leaking and the wet dirty carpet from the back and forth of them coming in our house. An I keep getting sent to voicemails, getting the run around and false promises that someone from this company will call me or get ahold of me. Calling every Monday to every other Monday and still havent been talked to about a discount or gotten any help and it has been a year.. definitely a company that only care to get their money and not actually sbout their customers. Lucky my daughter gave me the blade and didnt get curious and cut herself or worse swallow it..Business Response

I had a bath tub installed in my master bath and they did not finish the job as promised and paid for. They need to come out and install the trim that they remove and they keep saying they will send someone and they have not. The tub was installed late last summer and every time I reach out to them on the trim they state that they will get the piece ordered and come back out. I was told that everything would be put back in place as it was and they left it a mess. I have had to call them out several times to finish work, they had to finish the wall panel they left uncompleted, they did one piece of trim (not all of it), they had a kink in the water line so they had to come back out for that. This has been a complete headache and I just want it to be finished so that i can be done with this company. I would not recommend this company at all. I paid over $25,000 for a tub....I shouldn't be having these types of issues....everything should be done as promised and agreed upon.Business Response

We had all of our windows replaced in may 2022. Starting out we had missing parts to windows and filed a complaint with the company to ensure that they would complete the install. That job took 2 months to resolve. Then the patio door would not unlock or open and we were in fear of a fire hazard as that is the door to escape. That took 2 weeks to repair. On November 25 2022 we filed another warranty work as they call it to our front picture window because it cracked and continues to crack to this day. We have reached out to them many times to have this replaced. Each conversation with ****** from scheduling says that it is on order and should be here by January 19 2023. Not a follow up or a courtesy call to let us know it was not coming. Finally we called ****** again on February 13 2023 and she said she got an email from the manufacturer that it would be on the truck that week. It is now February 27 2023 and we have not received any information as to when the new window would be here. We are really upset at the poor customer service we have received. It is winter here in ********* and the crack in the window is defeating the purpose of having new windows. Hands down our word of mouth is very negative towards this company. We paid a large amount of money and only want what we were promised in their product. We just want this resolved. If not we will seek out filing a class action lawsuit as we know there are other customers unhappy with Mad City.Business Response

We contracted with a ******************* called MadCity to build us a new shower. I paid them half their money up front. They built us a new shower. It was so poorly done, they redid it. In the process of re-doing it they beat up the room around it and also did not install the second Shower correctly. They also cut my Floor Joist to clear the drain of the second PAN. I again paid them half the remaining money. I refused to pay them all their money until they did the job correctly. It is difficult to contact them now as they refuse my messages and have refused to do the job, a third time. I have sent them pictures of the problem and they say they always do it that way which is not as is shown in their literature. I sent them pictures of what is wrong with their installation, including the damaged floors/ walls/ and incomplete work. They claim while they almost always have this problem it is because our house is old and crooked. Their chief negotiator is named *****.Business Response

Customer is refusing to allow Mad City to install a piece of trim in front of his shower pan to resolve the issue, as is industry standard practice.
A discount was offered but rejected by the customer and since then, they have not returned our calls (2/6, 2/10, 2/16)
A full refund is not warranted.

Mad City installed 3 new windows and a patio door. I asked the installer why the interior trim was not replaced since I expalined to the sales guy that the cats sprayed the board and it would need to be replaced. The installer told me it was not on the order. I texted the sales guy and he said you could easily sand and stain. I told him that I requested it to be replaced. I told him not to expect any more business from me. I then spoke to a manager. He response was look at your paperwork was this box checked. I said no. She said then it won't be replaced. So, not a trustworthy company. Who knew you need to look at every box. They do not even give you a detailed quote. Will not recommend and will not order again,Business Response

On December 16, 2022, a salesperson from Mad City Bath provided an estimate of $13491 to replace our existing bath tub with a walk-in shower. For this price, the salesperson promised all work would be done by Mad City Bath personnel in one day and all we would have to do once it's done was paint. On January 20, 2023, subcontractor replaced our tub with a walk-in shower. When the existing tub was being removed, the installer damaged some of the floor tile. Further, he said he was given incorrect fixtures by the warehouse, so he would install what he was provide and the correct items would be installed at a later date. I repeatedly contacted the Service Manager and salesperson to have someone finish the bare sheet rock. The sheet rock was finished by a subcontractor on February 9, 2023. My floor has yet to be repaired. The second matte black grab bar has yet to be installed, as well as the matte black shower curtain rod. When my husband and I reviewed the installed fixtures, we agreed they were not up to our standards. The styles don't match and they look "out of place" in the shower, considering what we paid for the matte black package ($1600). Mad City Bath has refused to return to uninstall the fixtures. I am requesting a refund of $1800 for the following: 1. The not yet installed fixtures as well as the installed fixtures I would like to return to Mad City Bath, as we have no use for them. 2. The damage caused to our tile floor.3. A breach of contract, as it was promised all work would be completed by Mad City Bath personnel, not subcontractors.4. Poor customer service to resolve the existing issues.Business Response

*****,
Im sorry to hear that you are unhappy with our services. I know that my service manager has emailed you to try to explain why the items cannot be switched out and that we have had 2 phone calls in which as soon as you heard that these changes couldnt be made you hung up. I would be happy to talk to you directly if you would like to call me directly at ************. If you dont want to talk directly, I can quickly respond here.
The items installed are Luxury Bath items, this is the manufacture and or organizer of components. To supply the double lifetime warranty, we need to use their grab bars and curtain rods. If we looked to entertain your idea of using all **** branded items, then there is the possibility of the installation holes not matching or covering. Then there is the selection, **** only offers about 10 grab bar styles and over 40 styles of shower valve components. You switched the day of installation from the curved rod on contract to a straight rod and a temporary tension rod was installed in its place until a straight Matte Black one arrives.
We never promise or guarantee a 1-day installation. We state that we do the installation in as little as 1 day. Your bath was installed in 1 day the drywall finisher has been trying to contact you to complete that part. Our some of our installers are **** installers. They work for us 5 days a week they are paid and compensated well to complete a 1-day installation with the best workmanship.
The contract and measurement documents clarify that you wanted the wall extension removed, there is a change order for the reduced pan to meet your request. The measure tech stated that the removal of the wall and the reduction of the pan would leave a void where the flooring would not be covered. Our pre construction pictures show the drywall had been removed and a stain on the fibrous tile. The tile was partially deteriorated from water penetration prior to installation of the new shower along with inadequate subfloor. Which still does not matter because you were notified that your request would not cover the existing flooring.
I have attached images of the contract showing the Luxury Bath franchise, pictures of the documents you signed, and pictures of the pre and post installation.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I understand that **** offers a number of styles for their products, so wouldn't Luxury Bath provide a choice of designs for their items as well? I do not like the design of the grab bars. Are we able to select other ones from the same manufacturer? If we replace the fixtures with **** products ourselves, does that void our double lifetime warranty? If so, this was not explained to us prior to installation. Before *** installed the shower curtain rod, he asked us if we were sure we wanted the curved shower rod instead of the straight one. He had brought both with him (matte black curved rod and shiny black straight rod), as he typically installs straight rods with walk in showers. He stated the curved ones have to be installed further in on the wall and would make the shower curtain come around inside the grab bar. We chose the straight rod per his suggestion. He said a matte black one would be provided at a later date. I am still waiting on the second grab bar and the straight matte black rod.
When the guy came to make the specific measurements before we confirmed the install, he said it wasn't possible to install a shower pan narrow enough to be flush with the wall after the bump out section was removed. I had called to cancel the install entirely based on this information, but ******** came to our home and confirmed we could get one narrow enough. We ended up writing that confirmation on the change order form. It was not a change from our original order. We decided to go ahead with the install based upon ********** promises.
******** promised you would be able to provide a temporary fix to protect the open sub floor until we replaced the flooring next year. The ramp option provided by **** is not satisfactory as it would affect my ability to use my ****** to get to the toilet. There would be a lip I would need to lift the wheels over to get to the toilet. This also provides a clear slip and fall hazard, even with anti-slip coating.
The tile was not damaged before the tub was removed. The tile was ripped off when *** removed the tub. I believe we should be compensated for the damage to the tile as we have a bigger area to fix than was originally planned. I was NOT notified the exposed flooring would not be covered by Mad City. ******** had promised it would be.
I am willing to reduce my refund request from $1800 to $1000 to hopefully resolve this issue. If we are able to choose a different design of the grab bars, I'm willing to reduce it even further to $500.
Regards,
*********************Business Response

Luxury Bath / Mad City only offer one style that is why there isn't a choice of style on the contract only a color.
*** did not have both curtain rods the field manager brought you a temporary rod and it is oil rubbed bronze as it is a temporary tension rod. My service department closed your service ticket because you would allow us back after he told you we could not change out the accessories. **** will be contacting you nto change out the curtain rod with the straight Matte Black rod and install 2nd grab bar. at this time we can assess the floor and work to find a solution to help do a tempory repair to flush the flooring until you replace it.

My previous questions were not answered. If we replace the grab bars with **** products, will that void the double-lifetime warranty?
When will the second grab bar and correct shower curtain rod be installed? I have not received any sort of phone call or email from anyone at MadCity to schedule this.
*** DID in fact have two shower curtain rods with him the day of the install. He had the curved matte black rod we ordered and a shiny black straight rod. It is not an oil rubbed bronze. The field manager has not been to my home.
I never forbid anyone from coming to my home to install the products I ordered. I told ********** didn't want the ramp option via phone call. That's all. I ended the phone calls with him because he was not hearing what I was saying. I tried to explain my issue to him in several different ways and got frustrated. I did not hang up on him mid sentence or anything like that.
I am still requesting a $1000 refund for the damage to my flooring as well as the hassle I've had to go through for this entire process. This is not anywhere near the level of customer service I expected in paying $14k for a tub replacement. This is atrocious!

I have not heard anything outside of the complaint system from Mad City. I am not satisfied with their responses.I am still requesting the items I have paid for (grab bar and curtain rod) as well as $1000 compensation.Business Response

*****, I apologize for not responding to your response on March 1st. I was not aware that you had responded, I believe this was an internal error and was sent to the incorrect person. I have attached the 2 emails that my service manager emailed you has sent them to *********************** is that the correct email address or could these be in you spam or junk folder? This is the email we were given and have emailed you on 2/24 and again on 3/2. These emails show an option of 2 **** grab bars that I have and could switch if you choose to accept them. Also states that we would be installing the Matte Black grab bar and replacing the curtain rod to Matte Black.
If you change the grab bars yourself your warranty would still be in effect with the exception that we would not cover any leak or damage from your grab bars. My concern with changing the grab bars to a different one is because they might have different fastening pattern. If that happened then the holes would need to be sealed as I cannot replace walls if this happens. The one's **** has offered have the same hole pattern.

I dont know who provided customer service *************** and ****, but you should get your money back. I have NEVER been so disrespected by a company. I am NOT trying to get a $1000 refund from Mad City so I can cover the cost of the floor repair YOUR CONTRACTOR CAUSED. Yes, the floor had some water damage, but that water damage was not under any area the contractor shouldve been touching. He was tasked with removing the tub and the wall. The tile was not underneath either of those things. I knew there would be a four inch wide strip of exposed subfloor along the shower basin because the basin was smaller than the tub that was there. I also knew there would be exposed subfloor where the wall was removed. Together, this shouldve been an L-shaped area, not the area that resulted from your contractor.I am requesting the refund because of the stress, disappointment, anger, frustration, disrespect, and regret Ive experienced over the last THREE MONTHS of dealing with Mad City. In no universe should anyone expect to pay $14k for your so-called luxury product after everything Ive been put through. If I treated my customers the way you have treated me, I would be fired on the spot.

Another customer stated these are the WORST ********************** ever and I agree. I had Mad City come to my house for a bath project in my basement but they said they dont put in new baths, only redo existing ones. Since the guy was already in my house I asked him about the windows because I have large windows and the double hung windows I had in place all had broken tensioners. I was happy to have these so called energy efficient windows replaced. He talked me into getting my bath replaced too because, by buying them both you get a discount. They werent upfront about pricing either so who knows if I got a deal. They dont even do the windows and bath in the same day so I was unconvinced taking off of work twice. The bath is beautiful, though there was a little damage to surrounding drywall I regret redoing the bath though; my old bath had no problems with mildew but the new bath, that is supposed to by antimicrobial, gets mildew in the caulk. Im unhappy that the shower pressure is lower and the water doesnt get as hot. After you turn the water off, there is a drip from the faucet for about 5 minutes. My windows let a lot of light in, but the screens are crappy and bend so that bugs get in. I have had flies, yellow jackets, beetles and more. I also noticed I was feeling wind come through the windows and I have a lot more noise from the street. I did have a guy come to fix the complaints. He didnt ************ in the tub because he "couldnt re-create the problem" while here to inspect it. He did recaulk some areas and told me the problem is that I dont leave my bathroom exhaust fan on long enough. So I have been diligent about using my fan, but the mildew is back. He looked at the windows and said he couldnt do anything about the screens or the gaps because my windows are too large. The height is 63 inches so these sliding windows cant really do a good job in that space. Why didnt the salesman know they cant do large windows? My energy bills are worse, and the bugs!Business Response
