When my family moved into the above address **************************************************** we immediately asked the landlord " Lancer Property Group " to add a lock on to our sliding glass door. We have asked several times to have it fixed and we were only able to get the maintenance person out there once to physically look at it. We were told they needed to order parts and that it would be a week or so until it was fixed. July 15, at 8:44 a.m. I received an email saying they expected the part on the 24th of July and it would be fixed immediately. Last week I filed a police report because I had two checkbooks stolen from our house. I was told by the police that I would have to contact the county building inspector to access the sliding door inorder to have the the report filed with the county as a landlord / tenants rights violation. I contacted ********* building inspectors out of ******, *********. They informed me that there was no ordinance on having a lock put on the sliding glass door and refused to come out and access the complaint. We were provided a stick to prop in between the door and the wall. Common sense suggests that a door is a door and landlords are responsible for putting a secure lock on all doors and windows in *********. I would like to file a complaint against Lancer Property Group for not following landlord tenant rights and also against All Croix **************** for not accessing the issue and telling me that a stick behind the door is a sufficient means to lock my door. I have a toddler here and if we do not get to the door first thing in the morning she picks it up and almost breaks the door because she knows no better. This is a very serious safety issue and it seems nobody locally is treating it that way. The local police have been here and seen the door, they suggested to contact the county to file a complaint but the county uses a subcontractor to do there building inspections. I feel like the Better Business Bureau is my only hope.
