I've been using Naturescape for over 4 years, with only a few issues. One of my biggest complaints is that they toss any twigs/branches into my bushes. Breaking branches in on my bushes. Last year I payed for the fall clean up. They arrived about an hour before the sun went down. Of course they left once it got dark, leaving sections completely uncleaned. I didn't complain. This year (2025) they call me about the upcoming year and get me to sign up for one lawn treatment. They come spray the lawn, leave me a note saying not to water the lawn for a least 24hrs, and then it rains 6 hrs later. Once again, I didn't complain. A few weeks later I hear noise outside and it's them again, I thought maybe they had to spray another coating. The guy was outside for about 40 minutes, doing nothing. He drove his lawn mower around for about 10 min because there was nothing to cut. Didn't remove any leaves, pick up and twigs, or mow any lawn. Naturescape sends me a spring cleanup bill of $390.00. That is over 77% more than the fall clean-up rate, which is always more expensive. I did not feel I signed up or agreed to any spring cleanup, even if I had I would not have paid for work not done. I'm a widow and will not be taken advantage of by this company because they think I have no recourse. Ive taken photos and will post them, letting potential customers see the quality of their work. I called them the same day this happened, and they still have not removed the charge. I'm considering contacting Wisconsin's ***************************** if this is not taken care of like it should have been weeks ago when I called. Absolutely no benefit of being a long term customer, my lawn has progressively gotten worse every year Ive used their service.

We're very sorry to see this, and we have no intention of trying to charge the customer for any service that was not requested. We would like the opportunity to investigate this further and try to resolve it to the customer's satisfaction. It would be very helpful if we could see the pictures of the work (referred to in the complaint); if these could be emailed to us at ************************************* it would help us significantly. We look forward to speaking with the customer and resolving this issue soon!

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I will not be submitting my photos to your website. I paid for clean up last fall which was done very poorly. I contacted you with the details on the day of the spring incident. Explaining that I said yes to one lawn treatment. Not a spring cleanup. I might have just paid it, if it was done to any level of satisfaction. The grass did not need cutting, none of the left over leafs from the fall were collected, and not one stick or branch was taken. Exactly what does your company consider cleanup? You did not come back out to clean up any of this, and then sent me a $390 bill. An entire section of my lawn, along the side of my house is ruined because of you, and will cost hundreds of dollars to reseed. After three weeks of waiting for a response, you want me to go through your website and privately submit photos. Youll see my photos in the reviews I post. Im also now in possession of video from a neighbors camera showing what was done and how long it took. People considering your services should know how you treat elderly customers and the quality of your work.

I enrolled in the prepaid lawn care program with Naturescape. They did not provide the Fall Aeration with overseed so Ive been after them to refund the $139.00 that was paid ahead for the service. I have sent letters and called many times but no one returns my calls. Im dealing with their Galesburg MI business and the home office. Not the BBB A+

Damage to entire lawn from defective aeration machine. I've had 3 other professional landscaping companies agree that the damage was caused by this aerator. When a regional manager came to look at the damage, he agreed and said that he would talk with his manager. When the ** came to look at the damage, he said that it wasn't caused my their machine - essentially calling me a liar!! I have had no other equipment on my property since their aerator which did, indeed cause the damage.

      Business Response

      Date: 03/27/2025

We appreciated the customer bringing this to our attention and giving us the opportunity to investigate. After investigating the complaint regarding lawn damage, we found that four tire marks were present on the lawn. However, based on our inspection and evaluation, these marks were inconsistent with the patterns and dimensions of the walk-behind aerator used during our service. Additionally, our inspection noted the lawn's overall condition, including thin fescue and bare spots, which is not consistent with damage to the lawn. While we offered corrective measures in the form of double aeration and seeding, the offer was not accepted. Based on the evidence available, we were unable to confirm that the damage was caused by our equipment. We are still absolutely willing to follow through with the seeding and aeration we suggested. If any further clarification or additional information is needed, we will be happy to provide it.

[Please type your response here.]  First of all, there was no other equipment in my yard. Only their aerator.  I have a push mower, that wouldn't have caused the damage.  Three other national landscaping companies told me that their equipment was faulty and the operator should have known to stop the process when he noticed the damage to the lawn.  There is also the question as to whether it was a walk-behind or riding aerator.  The operator was supposed to do a 3 point turn when turning and then ripped up the remaining grass creating huge bare spots.  There are definitely more than 4 tire tracks!!!  They offered to do an aeration and overseeding on the following Monday when the **** came to assess the damage.  At that time, there were still freezing temperatures - the grass wouldn't have germinated.  The grass that they planted wouldn't be rooted and in August/September, I'll still have dead patches in my lawn.  I don't want these people anywhere near my lawn again.  I will accept them paying for another company to come and aerate and overseed at an appropriate time.  However, they also have to understand that if the lawn deteriorates again in August/September further action on their part will need to be taken.

We understand that the customer is disappointed in this response; however, we have absolutely no indication that the damage they are referring to is due to our equipment. We don't mean to imply that the customer is in any way attempting to mislead us, but the tracks they photographed simply do not match the type of equipment we use. The assertations of other lawn care companies have no bearing on this, as they have no familiarity with our equipment. However, because we value our customers and want to do everything we can to resolve any concerns, we are still absolutely willing to address the damage as discussed, and if the customer will allow us to do so, we will take any necessary steps we can to ensure that these efforts bring the affected areas back to full health. However, if the customer insists on having another company address the damage, we will be willing to consider covering the costs of only their initial visit; we cannot be held responsible for the efficacy of any other company's work.

Better Business Bureau:  The equipment used by Naturescape is in no way custom!!  It's an aerator used by every other national company out there.  It's a shame they cannot admit to their mistakes.  It was operator error.  Both the front and back yards have no grass on the areas that were reseeded in the spring.  The yard is filled with ruts from their equipment as no other professional equipment was on our property.  So both areas of concern will need to be addressed.  Not just aerating and overseeding!

We have not asserted at any point that our equipment is custom or unique to our company; only that the machine in question is incapable of leaving the tracks found on the property. Regardless of this, we have already offered to address the damage and bring the lawn back to health, and this is work that we will guarantee (meaning we will return to continue working on it at no charge if the initial work is in any way unsatisfactory). However, if the customer insists on having another company perform the repair work, we cannot and will not guarantee their work, and will only pay for their initial repairs.

I hired this company in 2024 to provide lawncare enrichment services. Every time the technician came to apply products/chemicals to my lawn, my lawn would get worse. I ended up having the worst looking lawn on my entire block. I repeatedly call the office and management even came out to my home and saw exactly what my complaint was. The manager, ****, came out and said he agreed with me and didn't know why my lawn looked so bad. I explained to **** that I always pay for services provided to me when that said service is satisfactory. I told him I would not be paying the invoice because my lawn was ruined and he agreed with me, indicating payment would not be required and they'd try to fix the problem. To their credit, Naturescape made an effort to fix the problem, however, nothing ever worked. Meanwhile, I continue getting an invoice for $291.77, which i refuse to pay and was told would be voided. I need your help.

I have recently tried using ********** on 2 of my properties. I have previously used another lawn care company. The reason I switched is because I have got these ads in the mail about services offered along with 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. Well I'm here to file a complaint that they absolutely do not offer this in real life. I have emails going back and forth with whom I'm assuming is a branch manager. The services I have ordered was a monthly treatment of two different lawns to keep weeds out and the grass to fillout. After many attempts of the company coming to the one address they never once treated the entire property. My girlfriend thought they have but after we reviewed video it was clear they missed a lot of the back yard each time.On the other property when I asked them to come back cause there was weeds coming back thru they came out and did whatever but the weeds still didn't die, but the part that has me furious is they killed two lilac bushes that my deceased mother planted years ago. After I contacted the branch manager she proceeded to tell me it wasn't their fault. Just like every issue I contacted them about. It was always something on my end. Well I'm still waiting to be paid back for lilacs and they keep sending me bills for services that they never fully rendered or that I was NEVER 100% satisfied with. So if this doesn't resolve this issue my next step is small claims court. Yes I'm not stupid I know the courts don't cover sentimental value but this company hadn't even recognized one wrong issue in all of these issues. But send me a bill like I should owe them. When indeed I feel they owe me a refund.

      Customer Answer

No I have not heard back from this company and they are still sending me invoices. Also they keep sending me mailers wanting me to prepay for next years services. Should I have a nursery come dig out these dead lilacs and plant new ones? I'm so furious my deceased mom planted these years before she died and they were happy and healthy till these inept people came. I feel like every contact from these people is salt in the wounds.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 11/12/2024

Well today I was able to call ***** back after he left me a voice mail yesterday. After going thru ****************************************************** touch. I would say communicate but no ***** wanted to do all the talking.
First off I have previous lawn care experience
For over 20 years professionally. This was never given a chance to be told to *****. He wanted to give me a long speech about the Midwest and lawns like I have no clue. I tried to tell him but he wouldn't let me speak. If he is their leadership I can understand why every member I have communicated with wants to blame the customer. That was exactly his ground today. He proceeded to tell me this was fungus that killed my lilacs.  That is false they have been treated for this since they have been planted on a regular basis. But again I wasn't given a chance to mention my background or anything. ALSO I HAD TRUGREEN COME OUT AND GIVE ME THEIR PROFESSIONAL OPINION AND THEY AGREED WITH ME. (( SHOCKER)) All my years of customer service i would never dream of doing what this company's business model of blaming customers to get out of being accountable is. They claim 100% satisfaction.... well after never being asked what I expected and was continuously being insulted on what myself or my mother knows/knew and being told I am never happy... I hung up on *****.
I'm very easy to please and make happy. If I hire you to do a service, simply do it. Also don't kill other plants that have always been treated, cared for, happy healthy,... if you can not do this don't come here. So yes he owes me for 2 lilacs and labor to dig them up and plant them. No I ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT ALLOW THIS COMPANY BACK ON ANY OF MY PROPERTY.  I WILL FILE A TRESPASS REPORT IF THEY COME ON MY LAND.
I'm adding an attachment of what lilacs are going to be. Im asking for $250 and the balance on ***** Drives lawn to be thrown in the trash where it belongs. And for ********** to never send me another invoice or mailing of any kind because I feel like it's all false advertising anyway. AS WELL AS HARASSMENT If this can not be done I'm simply going to file a small claims case cause this isn't getting anything resolved when THEIR leadership continues to ignore any type of wrong doing.  If I go to small claims I will be seeking legal fees as well.

They did send me a check for the lilacs they killed, but did not include any letter. So I am still wondering why I am receiving invoices for the lawn service that they never fully completed.  Are they still wanting me to pay those? I am not going to pay that when they never did the full yard and also never killed all the weeds. So I am not satisfied until they clearly state the account is at a zero balance. But yes they did cover the cost of the lilacs. They mailed a check with no explanation what's so ever.

We hired their service to do shrub treatments and lawn treatments after we finished landscaping our 1/4 acre .My husband recently retired, we did all this before he retired, 20k worth of.They treated our lawn and shrubs in June , right after that my lawn was dead . His comment initially was someone over spayed and youll have to wait till it grows out. Its not dormant its dead. We still have weeds , dead lawn and some dead shrubs. We watered daily like they said . VERY little improvement. Ive had to change a Bridal Shower that was supposed to be here to a Restaurant. I have sent them photos etc. Ive been in contact with them along with no satisfaction , I want my lawn replaced, not with seed either and by the company I choose. You asked for time for the lawn to grow. I would like to resolve this problem today.

Naturescape has a 100 % guarantee but it is false advertisement. I have complained twice on their service not working on my lawn and no action to correct taken place. Only thing they say is next application????? When I initially complained was informed they had problems/complaints on their agent who worked on property and that he had been go for similar complaints. They give you the run around to avoid following through on their guarantee. The second complaint I made was excused away by the next application excuse???why have a 72 hour guarantee and not follow it . Not happy with their service.

Naturescape was contacted early May 2024, and agreed to apply a 3 ************** Treatment for calendar year 2024, with defined general dates applications were to be applied/ received by (because of conditions of the yard ie. mature trees exist that shed leaves early). Naturescape failed to apply the first treatment and had to be contacted several times to get them to show up for the first time. Their excuse, "rain," that despite competitors successfully treating neighbor's lawns under the same weather conditions. Naturescape finally showed up for the first treatment, late in the game, and payment was immediately remitted to them for that treatment and the subsequent two (2) treatments expected but yet to be recieved or applied. Naturescape never showed up to apply the second (timed) treatment, By the time the third treatment was to be applied, not having received the second treatment, Naturescape was contacted. Excuses for not receiving services were they needed to hire more people, that there was a "new manager" of the ************* of two weeks that was "going to turn the company around" etc. Naturescape refused to refund the entire amount paid them saying they had "man hours" and "product" expenses for the first treatment even though they were contracted and agreed to perform all three (3) treatments for an end-purpose. What is the point of contracting for a step-process they do not show up to apply and having a worse lawn at the end of the season because they failed to appear. Only $ ****** of the $ ****** paid them has been refunded. This is unscrupulous business practice. I request the remainder $ ***** be refunded me immediately.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Naturescape telephoned me September 13, 2024, and left a voice-mail message stating they would refund the $ *****, I requested in my complaint.

Naturescape apparently the read the complaint I filed, and you sent them.

I received the refund check in the amount of $ ***** and have cashed it.

      Regards,

Paid for mosquito spray applications *********** has failed numerous Times on their promises they've showed up without calling and they couldn't get inside the gate and they said they sprayed when they really didn't they just did the front yard this year has been horrible I've been a customer for many years and getting them to fulfill my contract has been nonstop arguing back and forth with the person at the other end of their texting. I keep getting promises that they'll be out and I'll get phone calls and nothing ever happens. Every holiday this year we didn't get a spray before and we couldn't even enjoy the outside. I am terribly allergic to mosquitoes and I've always relied on this service to keep me from staying out of urgent care. The few years that I used them before this they were impeccable and I gave them great reviews. I don't know what happened but between last year and this year the service has gone way down and their promises aren't being kept. I love the product I know it works and I used to love the service now I don't have any service and I can't find anybody else to spray for the rest of the year

The owner called and left a lengthy message about me not being happy that they'd have somebody out here to spray they came out and sprayed the following week it did not work once again I'm covered with bad infected bites.  I called them back and I said look I don't know if the mosquitoes have become immune to your product or what but it's not working they said okay we'll be out and do another spray
