We were sold a vacation package and later realized that we were unable to upgrade our flights using our miles despite sharing this was important while exploring options for this trip. Trusting that we did our diligence and were being sold a trip that fit our needs, we booked but cautiously got trip insurance that would allow for a full travel credit... again assuming that this was the trip we had requested. Upon realizing that we would not be able to upgrade our flights despite 2 weeks of back and forth, it became evident that the company would not come to a solution that suited our original trip needs. Because of this, we thought it would be fair to receive a full refund rather than a travel credit as we were sold a trip under false pretenses. All we want is our money back so we can book the trip we want. This is our 10th anniversary trip and we are already out money because we've been dragged along and haven't been able to reach a definitive answer. Each day travel prices go up and we loose out on more and more money. All we want is our inital deposit ($2233.12) back and to have the experience we envisioned in the first place that Fox World Travel has not been able to deliver on.

      Business Response

As many do, our clients booked an air-inclusive package with Apple Vacations (booking on October 2, 2023, for travel on August 13, 2024).  The package bundled flights on ****** Airlines nonstop from ******* to ****** and the clients were hoping to upgrade to business class using their miles.  Unfortunately, when the advisor left the company in November of 2023, there was no documentation of this, and after scrubbing several recorded phone calls and emails, this information could not be verified.

While its common in package pricing with bulk fare that upgrades are not available, we dug deeply into the situation. The branch office manager consulted with Apple Vacations, hoping for a workaround. She also attempted to negotiate with the airline, who restated that when using a 3rd party vendor (such as Apple Vacations) and its booked in bulk class, the amount on the ticket is zero, and for that reason, the airline cannot upgrade. If the trip had been booked with ****** Vacations instead of Apple, it may have been upgradeable.   Had it been booked in published fare instead of bulk, they could have assisted.  The branch office manager requested the assistance of the Director of Vacation Travel to brainstorm additional solutions.  After exploring other booking options (such as ****** Vacations), other alternatives would have cost the client upwards of $1,500 additional in fare cost.

The leadership team at Fox circled back yet again with leadership at Apple Vacations to get creative. It was then leadership at Apple Vacations created an unprecedented solution:  If the client wanted a refund, they would process it for the full amount via Apple Vacations, minus $240 (which was the difference between vacation value and the cashback insurance).

The clients were thrilled, extremely grateful and agreed to it.

After checking our systems, the card was set to be refunded on 3/19/24; however, since October (when this was paid), the card had been compromised. Due to Apple Vacations policy to refund to the original form of payment, Apple Vacations will either mail a check or the credit card companies will work to resolve.  We are thankful for a terrific resolution for the client and appreciate the help from our strong partnership at Apple Vacations/Apple Leisure Group.
