Unprofessional Experience Proceed with Caution I applied for the Office Administrator role at Rigs 4 Less in January 2025. The owner, *** told me my resume was right on top, and his son mentioned I was their top candidate out of 75 applicants. I was scheduled for an interview the very next day. What was supposed to be a brief meet-and-greet turned into a 45-minute conversation, during which ** repeatedly emphasized how much his reputation matters. He described the role, pay range, and so-called perksone of which included requiring all employees to sit and eat lunch with him every single day. He framed it as team bonding, but he also mentioned that even his own family members had requested privacy during breaks. It struck meand reportedly othersas uncomfortable, overly controlling, and not the kind of company culture Id want to join. After the interview, I sent a warm thank-you and followed up professionally via email and phone. I never received a response. On one follow-up call, another employee answered, and I overheard ** in the background instructing them to say hed been sick for two weeks, rather than just speaking to me directly. I also called **s number myself, and the call was immediately sent to voicemail. This lack of transparency and avoidance felt immature and unprofessional.Despite expressing strong interest and following up respectfully, I was completely ghostedno update, no rejection, no communication whatsoever. For someone who places so much emphasis on reputation, the experience painted a very different picture. The pay may be decent, but the absence of benefits, the rigid and intrusive lunch requirement, and the overall lack of professionalism are serious red flags. If this is how candidates are treated during the hiring process, I cant imagine it gets better once youre on staff.Job seekersdo your research and proceed with extreme caution.
