My full review with photos can be found on ***************. I worked directly with Joel (the owner) to make a plan to landscape a hill in the front of my house. I made it clear numerous times that I was concerned about the risk of damage to the trees, especially the roots. I received reassurances that the roots would be fine. Several weeks after signing the contract, we had not heard back from the company on scheduling. When I noticed Diggeer's Hotline in my yard, it was obvious that work was being planned in the near future. I called the company again (after already calling multiple times) and was told that they would get back to me. The next morning, my wife called me at work to report a person in a bulldozer tearing up the front hill. Nobody rang the doorbell or attempted to call us before work started.. I promptly spoke with the worker on the phone and emphasized that it was essential that none of the roots be damaged. He informed me that he had already destroyed some "pretty big roots". I rushed home, but the damage was already done. Multiple large roots that were shredded or transected near the trunks. He also managed to gouge the trunks of the trees. After the first day, I spent three entire days working alongside the crews to limit additional damage. I dug holes, moved dirt in wheelbarrows, and placed rocks. Despite my presence, one of the workers managed to snap the trunk of a $900 tree and then planted it anyway. Another time, I asked for a bush to be planted deeper because the root ball was 3” above the ground. The worker told me it was “good” and stomped on the root ball to unsuccessfully push it farther down. I dug out the bush and planted it properly myself. The damage done was egregious. An assessment by an arborist confirmed what I already suspected, which is that the damage that was done was consequential. I had made extraordinary effort to be proactive and avoid this damage. This nightmare cost me $12,538.78. I was not offered any concessions.

Absolutely avoid Maple Leaf for landscaping at all cost!!! We contracted Maple Leaf to do landscaping work for our new built back in October 2023. First of all, the communication is terrible. We asked them to not start the landscaping until after winter as we believe the grass will grow better if they are put in during spring time. This request was ignored with no communication and it is now September 2024, and our backyard looks horrible despite having so much rain this year. The grass seed never grow and we had to spend a lot of money to reseed. Additionally, $1000 was charged for temporary irrigation system but since the project was completed end of October 2023 and it was freezing weather, the irrigation system was not able to be used. We asked them for a refund and kept getting ignore until we told them we were going to small claim court. This took about 5 months for them to issue us a refund check on a service that they did not provide. Lastly and most importantly, the retaining wall they built is visibly sinking (see pictures). As part of their contract, hardscape is under warranty for 2 years. We brought this up and they have been stringing us a long for four months now with no response to when they are going to address the sinking of the wall. Absolutely avoid!!! They have been a nightmare to work with.
