I purchased a heating and cooling system for my home in September
2024. Spent $11,000 on this: new A/C and propane furnace. Right away the furnace smelled of leaked gas. I notified the contractor about it and was told over the phone that was normal. Fast forward few months in February ‘25 I contacted again complaining of gas smell. Sent pictures and video of clear leaks at fittings done by contractor. He did not contact back. Had it fixed by someone else. Also spent over $1000 on propane for the winter because it all leaked out! By this point march ‘25 I had discovered the A/C did not work either. Contacted again, nothing. By April 29th contacted again. Soonest availability told is May 14. Wait until May 14, I am not home but leave key to house for access. While gone I get TEXTED that work was completed. I ask over text if all was fixed including A/C, told yes EVERYTHING IS FIXED. Get back home a/c still doesn’t work. I call back, no answer. Call again later, said he forgot about A/C fix will come later says he will come out and let me know when. No response back. Call back, no answer. Get texted back owner is out for bereavement. Call again later, soonest available is June 18 in roughly 3 weeks with weather being 85 degrees all the time. Again, I arranged to have key for house available to test system. No one arrives on June 18. Call today June 19 and told June 25 now. This is ridiculous and must stop. Call phone number and no answer 10 times in a row. After 4 times it stops even ringing. Will ONLY respond over text and tells me they aren’t available to fix system. Will not answer phone calls or explain why this isn’t an emergency or why they aren’t available. System is under warranty and does not work and they refuse to come out and fix and keep delaying giving excusesBusiness Response

In fall 2023 Mr. ****** installed a new AC/Heat pump and furnace to replace my old system. A technician did the install and I ended up having to help remove the old system and carry in the new system and lift it into the attic. Mr. ****** came and checked over the work and said it was good. The next day the unit wouldn’t run without tripping a breaker. Mr. ****** could not make time to come check the issue and recommended calling an electrician. Electrician came and found the breaker to be too small and installed a new breaker. The next day the wiring to my unit caught fire and burnt in half. Thankfully I was home. Mr. ****** came and informed me the wire was too small and he had overlooked it.
Spring 2024, I started running the AC and it would not keep my home cool. With the thermostat set at 70° the unit would run all day on 76° days and the house would be 73°. Multiple calls to Mr. Heating and Cooling resulted in appointments weeks away. Those appointments were canceled and pushed back by the company. Office staff finally told me to call another company and my warranty with Mr. Heating and Cooling and my contract would be voided. Finally Mr. ****** called me and explained a family situation he was dealing with and promised to make things right for me. I sympathized with him and gave him time. After a month with no AC and seeing his truck on the road doing work elsewhere I called another company. They came and showed me multiple issues with the install including a refrigeration line that was too small but ultimately said the system was too small for my house. They replaced the system and everything has worked flawlessly.
I gave Mr. ****** 6 months to contact me and heard nothing so I left a negative review on ******. Immediately after leaving the review Mr ****** began texting me and harassing me. His wife has been calling my wife’s employer and making false accusations and threats. I seek a full refund for my install and no further contact from Mr or Mrs ******Customer Answer

I no longer have the contract. I threw it away after I had a new company come and remove the system and install a new one.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
My duct work was sufficient for a bigger unit but Mr. ****** did not take the time to look even after I told him a company had already assured me they were a couple years prior. Mr. ****** assured me the unit he was installing would heat and cool my home sufficiently. When the unit would not cool the home the following spring I asked for someone to come check it out and was informed of the emergency he was facing. He promised me he would be in touch as soon as possible and despite no AC and temps in my home reaching as high as 85° I granted him time out of compassion for him. A month went by and I saw his yellow truck on the road and parked at a couple homes in the area and never got a call or check in. I could no longer take the heat and subject my wife and kids to it. I had to have a new system installed, and the new installer put in a bigger system without a problem and it has worked great. Even at that, I gave Mr. ****** 6 more months to just give me a call before I reported to the BBB and I have never heard from him. I would have been happy to settle with him for a partial refund but since I posted a negative ****** review Mr. ****** and his wife have been harassing me and my wife via text message and have gone as far as contacting my wife’s employer and making false complaints and threats. Now I am seeking a full refund and will be taking legal action asking for damages from the harassment and threats. I still hold out hope that Mr. ****** will make a move to make this right, as I do think he is a decent man and can do good work. I hope the best for him, his family, and his business.
Regards,
James BuckleyBusiness Response

Although I hope the best for Mr ****** with his injury and recovery I cannot accept the response to my complaint. Businesses have insurance to protect their clients from situations like mine. Some kind of restitution could be made. The injury to Mr. ****** occurred on January 13. I was asking for a refund on my work long before that and instead of trying to work with me I was met with animosity and harassment from him, his wife, and his company. His wife even called my wife’s employer and made threats that are now being addressed by law enforcement. This situation has gotten so far out of hand. Somehow it went from me asking Mr ****** to stop at my home and talk to me about a partial refund to harassment and threats made against my family. I will not accept anything but a full refund on my work and compensation for damages caused to my wife with her employer and with the community where she works!

On May 30th, 2024 I entered into a contract with Mr. Heating and Cooling to install a new 3.5 ton 14 seer heil ac with matching evaporator coil. And to also install a new heil 90 percent efficient 80,000 btu propane furnace. On June 3rd, I paid a deposit of $7000 towards the $13,885 total. Kenny, from Mr. Heating and Cooling, and I were in touch over the next couple months as he repeatedly rescheduled and postponed the install dates for personal reasons. In July we finally had the system installed. On July 17th the system was installed and payment was issued for $6,885.00. Mr. Heating and Cooling provided a receipt saying the invoice was paid in full on July 25th. We live out of state and due to physical disabilities, I am not able to get under the crawlspace to verify what work had been done. The A/C worked and we assumed all work was done to the specifications and codes required for this type of install. In Oct., a guest attempted to turn the heat on and nothing happened. We attempted to schedule a service call with Mr. Heating and Cooling, however were told it would take approximately a week and opted for another company with sooner availability.
The new company - ******** Plumbing and Air - came out and documented what they found: the furnace was not connected, lines were laying in the dirt, condensation wasn't vented properly, and multiple other issues and code violations. I have an itemized bill from them to correct this work. Additionally, they checked the A/C and found several issues with that as well. Again, documented and photographed. The repairs total $2,188.22. The tech with ****** noted that several code violations were made by Mr. Heating and Cooling's install team. They have been documented.
At this point, given the hazardous way our furnace was left, I do not feel safe having Mr. Heating and Cooling work on the project and have sought to go with ******. I would like a refund for the work that must be done.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Simply pushing off my complaint to a lawyer is not adequately addressing the allegations or issues raised. You failed to do work you were hired to do and left me with the false belief that all work was performed. I had to hire a second company to finish the work and was informed this has happened to multiple clients of yours in the area. This negligence is unacceptable and was unnecessary.

We contracted with Mr. Heating and Cooling for a central air conditioning system. After giving Kenny the agreed upon deposit of 50% and scheduling a start date of the first week in March, my husband had to have emergency open-heart surgery. We called Kenny and asked him to postpone the start date. He named April 22, 2024, as the new start date. He cancelled 3 times before finally showing up May 8, 2024, with his retired friend. He told us he was now a one-man show as he had fired his two technicians, his wife was pregnant with triplets, equipment he had previously installed had failed and he was having to replace parts, and that he was having extensive dental work done. He marked where vent holes should be cut in my ceiling and left. His friend cut the holes, put two ladders on my deck, a box of vent covers in my garage and left. A month later, after missing three scheduled appointments (that, when we called, were explained with the same one-man show, wife pregnant with triplets, having to replace failed parts, and having extensive dental work excuses), Kenny's retired friend showed up with what the gentleman said was stock duct work. My husband asked the gentleman to remain in his car. After telling this man that we no longer wished to work with Kenny, he then asked him to get out and help him load the two ladders and box of vent covers into the back of his car. 15 minutes after he left, Kenny called. He gave us the same litany of excuses. My husband told him that we had lost confidence that he could complete the job. He asked Kenny what he would do in our position. Kenny asked if we wanted our money back. My husband said we did. Kenny told us a check would be in the mail the next day. Later that same day, we received three emails telling us our appointment had been cancelled and one email accusing my husband of pulling a gun on his employee. (This never happened.) We received one last email telling us to contact Kenny's attorney from this point forward.Business Response
