January 12,2024 we had elite roofing come out to replace our roof. And that is where the issues began, the cleanup crew didn’t clean up any of the screws and our yard we ended up with two flat tires that they had to reimburse us for our neighbor ended up with a flat tire from the debris in the road From taking our old roof off. We have had two leaks since they replaced our new roof. We financed the roof for $12,840. For that cost, we should not have leaks in our roof in the first year of replacement.

      Hello,

This response is in regards to Complaint #******** by ***** *****. In January of 2024 we did install a new Owens Corning shingle roof for **** *****. She was originally not happy with the clean-up that took place during and after the job and got a few nails in some tires that we reimbursed her for. Roofing is a construction job that can be messy at times with all the original shingle, nails and debris coming off the roof. At Elite Roofing we do our very best to clean up the grounds and surrounding areas to the best of our abilities and if we do miss something we will always make it right. In **** ******* case we made it right with her and her neighbor for the missed nails causing flat tires and reimbursed her for the tires.

As for the leaks on **** ******* roof, we have been out 5 to 6 times now to address this issue. The leaks are because of a faulty chimney that needs removed on the house. When we originally sold the roof replacement to her we told her that it was a bad chimney and needed removed when we did the roof install. She did not want her chimney taken down at that time so we proceeded with the roof install as is. She now wants us to remove the chimney for free since it is the root of her leak problems. That is not an issue at all and we told **** ***** that we would remove the chimney but there would be an added fee for doing so just like there would have been if we removed it from the start. She does not want to pay us and expects us to remove it since it is where the leaks are occuring. We have been very thorough with **** ***** about this being the issue but she doesn't want to pay us and we do not work for free.

If there is any other issues with this case please feel free to reach back out.

      Thank you.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

They have come out to address leaks and have not stated it was from the chimney. When they originally sold the roof replacement to us we were not told  that it was a bad chimney and needed removed. However we wanted it removed regardles, We specifically stated the chimney was non functional and nobody addressed removing it so we assumed it would be taken down after stating it wasnt functional Upon arriving home around the time they were nearly finished with the roof we saw they did not remove it and we were shocked and asked the person on site why it was still up they stated  it would have been NO additional charge to have removed it they just didnt know it was supposed to come off. (Which we told them during estimate it was non functional and we didnt have a use for it) we did ask  the chimney to be taken off after site supervisor said it was no additional charge and they said due to the rain they would come back out at a later point down the road IF it ever gave us issues that they wouldnt continue working in the rain. , We never once said we didnt want it to come down. I don’t feel like I should have to pay for something that I told them on installation day after seeing it was still standing   that we did indeed want it to come down and they said OK that would be fine. If you had told us before it started raining.  I never  stated I want them to work for free. I feel like they are fully taking advantage of a disabled veteran who doesn’t have a lot of money to begin with. I have already paid them and I’m still paying the monthly payments

This response is in regard to complaint ID ******** for Elite Roofing. When we first went out and looked at the roof we told the customer that the chimney was faulty and that if it is not in use that it would be best for it to be removed. The homeowner said that they would like to keep the chimney and have some work done to it after the roofing project was complete. We told the customer that if they decided to keep the chimney that it would void the warranty in that area because it was a faulty chimney. That was the route that the homeowner chose to take and we went forward with the roof installation.

When the homeowner came home we were finished with the project and the homeowner then asked us if we could remove the chimney after the project was completed. As a company we charge for chimney removals so we told him that even though the project was complete that we could remove the chimney but there would be a charge for doing so. The homeowner did not want to pay for the removal so we are not going forward with the removal as of now. We have mentioned that we will gladly come out and remove the chimney but there will be a charge and he does not want to do that. The homeowner also tore some wood out of his old roof causing a mess in the attic that he claimed we made even though there was no mess in the attic when we did the project.

As a company we try to satisfy all of our customers and we have tried pleasing this customer but they don't seem to want to work with us currently. Every time we go out he raises his voice and is not pleasant to work with. We have attempted our best efforts and making sure their satisfaction was met but they have made that an impossible task currently.

We were never told that the chimney was faulty or anything of a (voided warranty) that the business is claiming. So id like documented “proof” of this because we never once said we wanted the chimney to stay up. This business has given us problems since the get go and now they are trying to customer blame with false accusations, or course we will be upset and raise a voice when we paid this much money to have leaks near immediately in our roof. We wanted the chimney to come down since day one, and we were told it would be free because the “owner” was very “veteran friendly” and would be more than happy to “help us out” which is one of the reasons we went with said company in the first place.

Since the last time she wrote a new complaint in, we have come to terms with said customer and we are going to remove the chimney free of charge and repair the roof as necessary.
We hope that this will be sufficient for said customer and BBB both. Thank you.

On May 20th we received a quote to install a new roof and gutters at our home. We had received multiple quotes on both, and chose another contractor to install our roof, but we accepted Elite Roofing, LLC’s (highest) quote to install seamless gutters due to them being seamless and their good reputation. On Friday, June 17th we received one hour’s notice that they would be here to install our gutters, though we were told that we would have a couple of day’s notice before hand. The sub-contracted crew showed up in an unmarked truck, and were immediately upset that we had another contractor install the new roof. They made several comments about how they weren’t making any money doing the gutters. They then proceeded to “finish” the job and drive away before we had a chance to even review their work. When we looked outside, we saw that they had broken downspouts, and there were noticeable, gaping holes in the gutter seams at the corners.
We called the sales person (Seth) at Elite and told him that there were obvious problems, and we were not satisfied. We told him that we were also concerned that the sealant didn’t have time to set up considering it came a downpour not an hour after the crew left. Sure enough the gutters began leaking when it rained. In addition to the initial notification, we sent proof (including a video) of this to Elite Roofing on the following days: 7/27/2022, 8/7/2022, 8/25/2022, 9/9/2022, and 10/1/2022. They have sent the same crew to attempt to fix this problem three times – which means they have been here a total of four times. The gutters still leak.
On 10/7/2022 we were called by Seth who told us that they cannot fix the gutters from leaking because they sold and installed the wrong gutters. He said we needed to have 6” gutters installed, not 5”. This was the first time we had heard this, and we were never informed prior to the installation that 6” gutters were recommended. He offered us a 50% refund which we refused.
