1 starI don't know what Westjet is trying to pull as it seems they have introduced a new scheme to get more money from their passengers. We booked our flight and checked in 24hrs before to select our seats at no charge, as we have done dozens of times before. My wife and I with the same last name and under the same reservation code, were assigned seats several rows apart. To our dismay we were charged $80.00 to have our seats together.Upon speaking with Precious from Westjet, we were advised there was no explanation for why they would assign seats to a couple that are rows apart - there was nothing they would do and we could file a complaint with the **** We have been longtime dedicated Westjet travelers as they used to be a friendly customer-focused airline. It is sad to see that this is no longer the case.It will no longer be our preferred airline for our travels. They really should be ashamed of their desperate business practices and I am sure they will feel the sting when the passengers see their true colors.Review fromSusan H

1 starWorst flight experience ever!! AVOID THIS AIRLINE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. We booked our trip via *****, who scheduled this leg of the trip through their partner, WestJet Airlines, and the final leg out of ********* was via *****. The check-in counter at Edinburgh stated they could only print boarding passes for the 2 WestJet flights, and we would need to obtain *** ***** boarding pass in *** ****. This was the beginning of our problems. Flight to ******* was fine, on time, and as we expected, the ******* airport is a mess. Since it was an international arrival we had to retrieve our checked luggage to go through customs, then re-check. At the baggage check counter we were told we could only check them as far as ********* and would have to again retrieve them and also visit the ***** ticket counter to get our final boarding pass. WRONG!! Not only that, the boarding process in ******* was totally chaotic thanks to the boarding gate employees. Upon arrival in ********* we waited 20 minutes for our bags, which did not appear. A very helpful baggage agent advised us they had actually been sent on to our final destination, so we went to the ***** counter to get our boarding passes. However, by this time we had totally missed our connection, the last of the day, so we had to obtain a hotel room. In addition, the entire problem was caused by WestJet so ***** could not be responsible for the cost of the room and any additional expenses.Review fromHANNAH S

5 starsJust would like to thank West Jet for both the flight to ******* and the flight home to *******. My daughter and my grandchildren flew with you during a week in August and I was so please with both their flights being on time and there luggage was handled properly. I had to pick the kids up at ********************** at 12:15 am and was so happy when everything was on time, as we travelled from ****** ******* to pick them up . Thank you again for your hard work through these rough time.Review fromHolly S

1 starReturn flight from ********* to *******. Left late due to awaiting a co-pilot. Landed in ******* about same time as the plane to ******* left. They would not hold back that flight to allow us to transfer. About ************************** ******* 24 hours to take next day flight.Despite their promise to pay $1000.00 to passengers delayed 9 hours or more, that denied our claim saying it was not their fault. If they cannot staff their company to meet their own schedules, pray tell who is to blame then? If our business failed to meet schedules due to short staffing, that would be on us. What a crappy avoidance of responsibility. Not impressed Westjet!Review fromJeff D

1 starWestjet cancelled my ******* to *******, not sure why. They rescheduled us to the next day at 6:15 am and upon our request put in a voucher for the hotel stay , food and transportation to and from the hotel. I was told by the service person who confirmed with her manager to put the voucher request through and for us to call back to confirm a few days later. I called back today and spoke to Ryan who was extremely rude, constantly talked over me and when I requested to speak and or respond he just kept talking. He then said the other manager was wrong and should not have put in the voucher request. I think Ryan has been told to deny all compensation requests even if its Westjet who are at fault. I have never had anyone be so rude to me . I'm a long term Westjet customer that will seriously consider not flying them anymore. What I want is an apology from Ryan for the way he spoke to me and hung up after I requested to be transferred to his manger. I told Ryan this conversation was not going anywhere and he would not let me speak, I was quite civil. I suggest if you get Ryan on the phone and he keeps talking hang up on him. I emailed Westjet for a manager to call with Ryan to apologize, we will see if they care ! Stay tuned !Review fromRussell L

1 starFirst time flying to Europe, last time ever flying WestJet.Arrived 3 hrs before departure, The flight leaving ****** was 90min late. Connection was ******* then ****** the final destination. After arriving 75min late to *******, the staff announces while waiting for the gate, "we will have to get our own bags", go thru customs and re-check in for our connection. A 2hr 15min layover was easily missed, bags took 30min, customs also about the same. If they would have transferred the bags to the connection and gave passes before leaving ******, 10 people on the flight heading to ****** would have just made the connection and none of this happened. They did not provide the opportunity to get boarding passes online or at departure from ******, So we waited at the WestJet check-in line at ******* airport 2.5hrs to get another connection and drop bags. The desk then tries to re-book us on a flight thru ******* with a 45min layover since we miss our connection, we ask, can you guarantee the connection, we will not have to get our own bags... they say of course not!So they re-book us at 9a the next day to ******, put ** all ** in a hotel and we head out of the airport. At 4am next day, we all get an email, our 9am flight has been cancelled! At 6am we head to the airport... the line at 6am, i am not joking.. worse than in the afternoon the previous day. There is no way we would have made the service area before other carriers that had direct flights could possibly be accessed. I see a supervisor and I insist she helps us get onto a different carrier asap, she reluctantly helps after saying we should wait in line like everyone else. I told her we did that yesterday and not doing that again!3 alternative carriers were heading to ****** in the next 3-4 hours, we want on one of these flights and off WestJet. While we are waiting for this manager to help us, an hour goes by and we all receive re-bookings for WestJet THE NEXT DAY! at 3pm, some 30 hours lReview fromMatthew C

1 starNot sure where to even begin. I had a flight from ****** to ****** with connection through *******. I had a bad feeling from the outset when they continuously ensured me that I had enough time to make my connection (>2 hours) and my baggage would connect automatically from one leg to the next too. From the time I arrived in *******, everything went horribly. They had never made me aware at any stage that Id need to fill out an extensive COVID app procedure, even if only remaining in ****** for 1.5 hours. This was the first delay. After stressfully sorting through that in a very rushed manner, they wouldnt let me go on to customs because my bag hadnt been checked through on their end and they didnt want me to make the flight and leave them liable for my baggage that was certain to be left behind. Of course at this stage, there was nobody at the WestJet desk, so I was stranded in a little room in no mans land between security and customs. I was told I could return through security to speak to someone, but they probably couldnt do anything, and then Id almost certainly miss the flight. I decided at some stage to force the issue of making my (already 1.5h) delayed flight, rather than be stranded in a foreign city (possibly without baggage) where I was also told they may or may not have a hotel voucher available for my use if I missed my flight due to so many other issues with the airline currently. Naturally, this was all relayed to me without someone ever showing up at the desk or answering the phone for over an hour. I had a further connecting flight from ****** to ** with another airline which I eventually missed altogether due to the delay from the *******/*** flight. I never made it to ** and cut my entire trip short in ******, where I am currently stuck without a bag, because it had never been processed through with me (my original fear). Please please find my bag asap, its contents are of huge importance to me.Review fromBrad M

1 starWest Jet cancelled my flight 2 years ago due to Covid. I have followed their process to get my money returned 3 times, sent emails, and called multiple times. Each time I have no luck. Now I am left with travel credits that are going to expire. This is the only industry where if they can't provide a service you do not get a refund. Very disappointing and frustrating,!Review fromRichard F

1 starTerrible customer service. Hides fine print restrictions in all tickets and will *** *** passengers over in a moments notice. Zero flexibility, zero willingness to change flights, even as flights fly empty. We fly regularly throughout the year and have flown many airlines across North America and it was the biggest mistake of our trip to book with Westjet. This turned a great trip into a brutal experience on both legs of the round trip. I will never touch another west jet flight again.
