I had a tax *********** my taxes this is my second year filing with H&R block usually I file my taxes myself but due to needing my refund as soon as possible to cover some expenses I went with H&R block again this year. Last year I got an instant refund without any issues but this year I did I was made aware that I did qualify for the instant but was told they're system was having issues and then a few moments later told that they're system wasn't allowing them to do it and was told I had to pay and then I had asked if I could get the instant after paying but the representative didn't even try again after paying they straight up refused to and said there was nothing they could do which I call bologna on that nor do I believe there was an issue since other clients were receiving they're instants. The representative gave me 2 different amounts as well first was *** and then when I went to pay went down to *** which seems suspicious to me how the amount I needed to pay changed in like ** minutes or less. They did up a cheque last year but for some reason they weren't willing to this year I am more than infuriated with this poor quality customer service I received this year and won't be returning to this business next year due to this issue I had this go around. So now I risk losing my home and wasted an entire day for absolutely nothing I had also called they're head office to make a complaint as well because if I do qualify for the instant there is no reason they couldn't have given it to me since others were getting theirs so the representative lied to me more than once in the matter of ** minutes or less. I'd like my refund when I qualify for the instant and in this case I did they were just refusing to do it it seems like. If there truly was an issue with they're system then others wouldn't have been able to receiver they're instant refunds as well so that representative definitely **** definitely ******* now I know why I was told to stay clear of H&R block.Business Response

On February **** 2023 I went to H&R block at ****************************************************, ** to file my taxes. I stated I wanted the instant refund. I was met by agent ********* employer #******. While in the meeting ********* was on the phone speaking in her language and took pictures of my information and sent them to whoever she was talking to. This is a giant breach of privacy. She did my taxes, and I go to find out she did them completely wrong. I spent ** hours on the phone with head office for her to eventually put the wrong amount on my instant refund. I went to the office and asked why the amount was different than what I was entitled to and she stated that it would work itself out once the cra processed my return. HNR block policy states that if an overpayment was made I would be contacted within * days to repay the overpayment. I was never contacted. Fast forward to this year. I went in to do my taxes, everything was going fine until she told me I owed HNR $******* and that it would be taken from my instant refund. I explained to the agent what happened last year and she said, sorry. There's nothing I can do about that. HNR policy states if they make an error they will reimburse up to $****. So, why am I paying for a huge error on their part? My privacy was violated and a huge error was made by them. I find out this year that after dealing with ********* last year that she was fired for the mistakes she made on my taxes. What she did and what HNR Block allowed her to do without notifying me was and is illegal. Violating my privacy and making a huge overpayment is their mistake and they won't rectify it. I would like to be contacted by someone high up at HNR Block who follows policy and can refund me the $******* they shorted me this year. As well as the $****** for filing with them, I would also like the $****** I paid last year after I was told I would not have to pay for 2023 as ********* made so many errors.I have attached docs.Next year I will file myself.Business Response

You also messed up my taxes this year and now I owe cra ****$ so I will not accept your answer until you rectify this situation and I get my full refund.

I am very unsatisfied with their response. Their policy states I would be notified within *days of an overpayment from last year. They did not contact me in anyway. Among that they have not even touched on the fact that my privacy was grossly violated and a random foreign stranger has my information including sin number. On top of this they also did my taxes wrong for this year and I owe ****$ to the cra. And all they are offering me is one years filling fees which is ***$ in return. Because of them I am out over $****. I will not accept their responses until they give me my entire return and pay what they messed up and now I owe.Initial Complaint

on feb ** **** i had hand r block prepare my tax return . being a minimum wage worker i opted for cash back . i had no option but to accept the money on a pre loaded mastercard . it was given to me in a letter sized envelope . stapled to the outside of the enxelope was a small narrow slip of paper telling me not to throw the card away because they had switched my direct deposit settings with the *** and my future payments from them would now be loaded onto the h and r block card , h and r block in no way verbally or in writing gained my consent to do this if i had not realised this h and r block will collect these funds in the way of fees deducted over time . i want my previous direct deposit settings restored and for them not to be able to do this to others .Business Response

Used H&R block to to my taxes few years in the row. Also bought a Piece of Mind protection.Recevied a letter from Cra that I have to pay back the tax refund for 2020 $**** dollar because my filing has missing info after many attempt was able to talk to H&R block and someone was working on it , CRA was keep sending me letters wanting the same thing .Nothing got resolved I had to pay the money back . Went to a licenced bookkeeper he sent in the required documents or what was needed . I was audited for * years because H&R block made a mistake not sending in what was required and I had to pay the money back and I had all the supporting documents. The piece of mind protection should cover this but after many e-mails I got ignored.Last e-mail from them was weeks ago that a regional manager will contact me ***** did. I am out of $**** plus the licenced accountant fee!! H&R block should pay me back according to the piece of mind protection or I am taking them to small claim court . I am rejecting this response because:They are mixing it up with last years resolution . I needed a letter from them to state that they are working on my tax file because I was not able to get a mortgage due to the outstanding amount what I had to pay back . They gave me the note and still not got the mortgage and lost on the property thanks to their mistake .
And because of the first mistake CRA went back for * years to audit me because they are doing the same mistake again.

*********3 Date paid for service. I am seeking resolution and compensation for late fees and interest charged by both the *** and *** due to H&R Blocks inability to submit my taxes in a timely manner. I submitted all the documents that I was instructed to provide to file prior to the April deadline. H&R block did not submit my taxes to the *** until October *******. H&R Block didnt submit my taxes with the *** until November **, 2023. I was assured by my representative from H&R Block that I would not be charged any penalties, and still have the email correspondence from her that states this. To my surprise, I received a letter from the *** December ****, 2023 stating that I have penalties to pay amounting to $***** USD. This prompted me to call the *** who informed me that I owe $******** in penalties for filing late in addition to $******** in interest. In response to this, I tried to connect with multiple managers from H&R Block. I received no solution it further communication from management after being told they were going to look into it. *** tried to speak with multiple times to no avail. Due to the lack of response, I filed a complaint with an H&R Block customer service representative over the phone. I was assured this would be taken care of but never received a call back from customer service. I have continued to try and contact management as I continue to receive interest daily on these unresolved penalties but am not getting any response or help from this company.In order to resolve this situation I believe it would be reasonable to receive a refund for the 2022 tax services totaling $******, In addition to H and R block covering the penalties and interest due.Business Response

This is now the second year where ***************** has disappeared / ignored me / refused to set a follow-up appointment (though he did mention at one point discussing after June **** which is long gone) after collecting my fee and partially filing my taxes, leaving me to send dozens of follow-up emails and dozens of phone calls to the store. I am now extremely late on both my ** and ******** taxes.After navigating the HR Block customer support network (I've been hung up on at least a dozen times), I was promised remedy via a tax accountant to finish my filing free of charge. After completing the filing, a $**+ charge was assessed and the office refused to file without payment. This is unbelievable. I request immediate rectification. Filed my taxes with H&R Block. There was a discrepancy in the amount filed and in November 2023 I received a bill from CRA for over $***. I did not receive a ** from one of my previous employers before the deadline of being sent out. I contacted them and they emailed me my T4 * days after the deadline, which is the one I brought in to file my taxes with. It was the new amended T4. It was the only one that I received from sms, my previous employer, after I called them and emailed them. I never did receive the original T4, which H&R used to file my taxes with. Which makes me wonder how they got the original T4, when I didn't even receive it. And why they didn't use the T4 that I brought in to them.Business Response

I filed my taxes with H&R Block in ******** of 2022 for the tax year of 2021, the company failed to deduct taxes on government income (CERB) and had issued me an overpayment amounting to over $****. I have contacted the Branch I filed in person at, as well as the district branch, and the head office and settlement department numerous times, in an attempt to better under the error made and reach an agreement. The company has failed to acknowledge any error made by any employees, and failed to provide a revision of my taxes with me, as requested several times. I have requested claims to be escalated with head office, expressing urgency on the matter. Stating that I need to fully under why and how the error occurred before making any settlement with the company, As it is my belief the error is a result of incompetence/********** of employed personnel. While not receiving the information and support Ive requested, I have received one piece of mail, stating my outstanding balance would be sent to a collections department within ** days. I immediately contacted the settlement department upon receiving this notice. The settlement department suggest I phone the district branch and request a hold on the collections submission until this coming tax season. After contacting the district branch to make this request, I have neither received any information about the errors made on my tax claim, nor any information on the request to postpone the collections submission. The company hasnt followed up with me, and has left me phoning department after department, playing cat and mouse, just to try and understand the status and errors of my tax claim. I fear receiving a collections notice, for an amount that would require a structured payment plan, prior to understanding the reason why, and the errors made and whom is responsible. *** made immense effort to resolve this, whilst the company has made nearly zero effort.Business Response

It does not make any sense as already attended their all of the online classes since September 2023 to December 2023.She was also asking to pay the fees again. I filed my taxes on my phone this year and I was trying to file by myself and for free. I tried and refreshed three times and it wouldnt let me by the part where I choose what service I want without also adding **************. I filled it out and paid it because I had no choice and now i cant get a refund me because I made my appointment within ** hours. I called them within ** minutes of filing my taxes.Business Response
