My ****** account was recently charged for third-party calls by Triton Global, for 2 long distance calls apparently made to ************ "Dir Assis ON" for $7.78 total -- $8.79 (inc. tax).I didn't make nor authorise these calls and I have no idea how they were added to my account. These were not Long Distance calls, they were Directory Assistance. A user dialed an ********************************************* use. They were then directed to a Directory Assistance portal where they would have been told this and that if they wanted the new number for a charge of $3.89 to press "1", Both calls were opted in and the new number provided. I can see that ne call lasted one minute and the other 2 minutes, which was more than enough time for fulfillment to occur. We will not be refunding these charges.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:While I appreciate Triton Global's response, about these being user-enabled calls, I reject their response because I believe that they took advantage of a senior without the capacity to understand the implications of this senior's actions. Indeed after reviewing many online forums and complaints against Triton Global (TG) for unexpected and/or excessive third-party call charges, I don't appreciate that TG is operating and providing an effective end-user experience.
I also appreciate that TG is authorised by the **** and the respective telecommunications companies -- in this case, ****** -- to use TG as a third-party call handling company. However, based on the volume and variety of negative complaints against TG and the examples of negative service provided by TG, I would expect the **** and the telcos to revisit the mandate given to TG. In my opinion, both the means to communicate possible charges to the end-user and the excessive charges to the end-user must be improved.
Therefore, I expect the BBB to be involved to record the poor business record of TG, as this has been occurring since 2013! This is evident by my quick and basic search of online negative complaints against TG.

Company has been charging our business phone lines (both landline and fax) $** a month each for multiple years. Have contacted via email multiple times, no response. If you call the company to ask them to stop, they charge you for the call (found that out the hard way). **** can't seem to stop them.This company is a scam pure and simple, and because we are locked into a business phone line contract there is no way out. Was contacted by Triton Global representative, who claims I have not contacted them (I have via their web form).They also stated that the charges are from Reliant Communications, whom I would have to contact directly. However, they were able to transfer my call to them directly (?). At which point there was a recording stating the call will be recorded, then silence. As stated on your call with our CSR, these calls are from a long-distance plan that someone at that number opted into back prior to billing. We are unable to opt the consumer out of the program as we are only the billing agent. As stated, the caller will have to contact Reliant to terminate the program. They were given this number to contact Reliant directly. We tried to help them by transferring the call directly, but apparently something happened beyond our control. I am rejecting this response because: CSR argued I had not emailed them, I had contacted previously using their website form, with no response. While the *** informed me the charges were from a Reliant Communications, there is no indication of such from the billing and attempts to contact have not been answered. The one line being billed could not have called and agreed to charges, as it is a fax line and cannot call out and authorize external billing. To state they are not responsible for continuing to bill this account is false, as they are the billing party, regardless of if requested by external company.

On a recent ********** statement dated November 9, 2024 a long distance charge to Triton Global Business Services was added to our statement. 2 calls charged that were never made or autorised by us. ***** added to our invoice without consent. We called bell Aliant to question this charge and were told to contact Triton to ask them to stop doing this. BellAliant took no responsibilty whatsover and I was told to go on line and educate myself about this kind of SCAM. Not sure where this is headed but somthing has to be done about anyone able to just tell another company to bill one of their customers for a ********************** that was never requested or consented to...Business Response

These charges are for a long distance plan with Reliant Communications that someone at that phone number agreed to. We assist with the billing of this agreement.

These were charges on Bell phone bills listed as "Usage Charges - other long distance carriers for TRITON GLOBAL BUSINESS SERVICES - TALKPAK BC - ************" note says "operator handled customer dialed. we have never called that number or received any services from this company and bell says it is a third party thing that is not up to them to remove it and it is something we must have done from our end. I can assure you that this is not something occurring from this end and we have been billed 11.85+HST x 2 phone lines = ***** every month since November 2017! We have tried several times to resolve this however it has not yet been resolved and we have now paid out $2,088.84 to date to Triton Global Business services through our bell phone bills and we need this to STOP and hopefully find a way to get back some of the money taken from these unreachable scam artists.. please help!Customer Answer

On January 28th **** I received my 12 year old sons ***** mobility bill that showed a $38.88 data charge. I pay a data block fee on his account so data fees can not be charged. I entered a chat with a ***** representative immediately after receiving this bill and the representative advised me the charge came from Triton Global as a third party. Upon clarification, the representative advised me that this company provides abbreviated dialing codes to participate in games, contests or voting by dialing a specific # code.I have no idea what this means but I looked back on the phones call history and there were no unrecognized numbers dialed. ***** advised if I want to dispute this then to reach out to Triton and provided the contact information. *** attempted to call the number provided for a number of days as well as email with no result of reaching anyone with this company. My son is 12 years old and cannot enter agreements or contracts thus I find this companys business predatory and in addition: the inability to reach an actual person leads me to believe this company is scamming. I would like to dispute this charge and Id like explanation IN PLAIN LANGUAGE what this charge is, how this charge occurred and how to prevent such charges in the future.Business Response

The complainant called once and emailed once prior to this complaint. Our customer ********************** has reached out and explained the charge. As stated, the complainant's minor child made a charge to an adult dating/chat service. The call actually does not show up as billable in our system, so it seems ***** made an error in charging the call as the user did press "1" to accept the charge. We have advised the caller to contact ***** to have the charge removed, and assisted by providing screenshots showing it was not billable. We have also blocked the phone number from our service so such charges will not occur again.

They were for 2 calls to a dating site, one for 9 minutes and the other for 6 minutes. As these were for a sufficient length that the were not unintentional, we will not be reversing the charges. We will however block the consumer's number so they will be unable to access the service in the future.

We were finally able to discuss the charges with the consumer. The charges were legitimately made by the phone user, as confirmed by the phone owner. While we will not be issuing a refund, we have blocked the phone from accessing the services in the future.

Per their email to us, the charges are already being credited by their phone company. Further to this, we have blocked the consumer's number from any future access to this service.

This charge is for our Directory Assistance service. The consumer dialed n 800 line incorrectly or no longer in service and reached our DA service, where they hit "1" and accpeted a charge for service. However, the call was less than 10 seconds so we can tell the consumer never completed the service and did not receive the new number. Our Customer Service has reached out to the consumer to initiate the process of refunding the charge, which the consumer agreed to. No charges were made to the phone number provided. We do note the day after we received this complaint our customer ********************** received a call from a lady with the exact same charges. The customer was infirmed regarding the charge, how it was made, and the service received. ** ****** *** ** ** *** ********** ** **** *** ***** **** **** ***** ** * ****** ******* * *****. The phone number with those charges has been blocked from future use of our services, but the charges will not be removed.
