The principal amount was $1058.80 when the service was cancelled on Dec 25, 2019. No payment has been received and therefore interest has accrued on the account for over 5 years to bring the balance to $9742.33 as of March 12, 2024. When you filed the consumer proposal was this ***** account included in the list of creditors?

I am not liable for this debt with *******************************. I do not have any contract with MetCredit. They confirmed on call that this is a mistake because of similar details of with the liable.I requested the original contract, but I haven't received it yet.

The collection item has been removed from the complainants credit file. MetCredit cannot provide the contract to the complainant as the debt does not belong to the complainant, it belongs to an individual with the same name but different date of birth.

I am rejecting this response because my lease is coming to an end, and I have been actively searching for a new place to live. However, every landlord I have approached has requested a credit report, and due to this issue, my credit score has dropped by more than *** points.

This situation has caused significant distress and has directly impacted my ability to secure housing. Given the negative consequences I have suffered, I am requesting appropriate compensation for the hardship this has caused me.

I would appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and a fair resolution.

The credit reporting error was not caused by MetCredit, it was the credit bureaus who matched the collection item to the wrong consumer profile. Once the collection items has been deleted the complainants credit score will be amended accordingly.

With the help of the BBB, I was finally able to get ***** to reach out and settle an outstanding account (complaint #*********. The only problem was that ***** had already submitted the case to a collections agency called MetCredit. That agency has apparently been charging me interest on some amount of debt. I'm unsure of the amount or what they are basing their numbers on. They will not answer the phone when I call, they will not answer the phone when they call, and they haven't left any messages. They just call or send vague emails almost daily. I believe this method to be some sort of delay tactic to help the debt grow, thereby increasing the amount they believe they are entitled to for some reason. The amount they are requesting is higher than the amount paid to ***** to close the account. ***** has also not responded to requests to contact or help Metcredit.

February 18th, 2025, 2025 Hello, a previous landlord sent our file to Met Credit agency for money I owed, Met Credit contacted me so this issue can be resolved, after coming to an agreement based on the landlord agreeing to remove that file from my credit bureau this agreement took place on January 18th, 2025. I paid the fees off in full on January 20th, 2025 with the amount of $10,000, Once the payment was made ****** ******** the representative from met credit started running me around and still is reflecting on my credit report. This is not a legal matter but I would like a complaint filed against met credit and ****** ******** for being misleading and providing false information. People need to be aware of agencies like met credit,

      Business Response

MetCredit has never reported this debt to the complainants credit bureau therefore there is nothing for us to correct. The money paid to settle the matter has been sent to our client ********* *****. Without our knowledge ********* ***** has engaged another company to report the matter to the complainants credit bureaus. The complainant will need to contact ********* ***** or the company whom he hired to make the report to the credit bureau. This has been explained to the complaint by MetCredit.

I am rejecting this response because: I was mislead by met credit and treated poorly once they received payment for their client.  I never stated that met credit reported me to any credit bureau but was left hanging without any direct responses, the purpose for this complaint is so other people call look up met credit and use caution while dealing with them as they took my payment by issuing comments that were counterproductive and other people need to be aware and use caution if they are faced dealing with this company.

The complainants frustrations are misplaced. MetCredit was hired by ********* ***** to collect money owed to him by the complainant pursuant to an judgement order by the Landlord and Tenant ***** of *******. MetCredit negotiated a settlement with Mr. ***** on behalf of the complainant that resulted in over $2000 in reduction of the amount owed by the complainant. MetCredit notified Mr. ***** immediately upon receipt of payment. MetCredit has responded promptly to all of the complainants calls and emails. MetCredit has never provide false or misleading information to the complainant. The documentation that the complainant supplied with his complaint support all of the above. If the complainant continues to make false and defamatory public statements about MetCredit we will have no choice but to refer this to our legal counsel.

MetCredit to stop reporting against my credit as the account was filed into bankruptcy. MetCredit is acting against the law by reporting against my credit. I do not consider their response satisfied without proof they acted to removing the collection from my credit reports. Their response was open ended by not providing proof of sending the removal to ********** and Equifax along with no date of removal.

I will consider their response acceptable when I am provided proof that the removal request was completed and no future collection will appear on my credit reports. Simply, provide proof that the removal request was completed and then the matter will be resolved. If not, legal actions will be taken.

I would like to file a formal complaint against Metcredit for being allowed to put a $******** accumulated interest towards a file that was handed over to them in 2020 by ******************. The original amount owing to ****** was $4584.66 before being sent to metcredit. I reached out to Metcredit on January 31 to find out that I owe $******* & over **% of it is because of interest. I wanted to fix my credit and I called metcredit to see if there's a way we can negotiate a settlement amount but when they told me I owed $*******, I couldn't believe it... and how is this LEGAL? I want to resolve this matter because it is affecting my credit, however, after finding out how much I owe, it is impossible for me to pay that. I moved around after using ******' service so I had no way way of knowing how much I owe. I checked out my credit report recently and I saw the amount. I had other collections in the past and I was able to resolve because the interest were not compounded as much as what Metcredit did. I really want to resolve this matter but it is out of my reach. I have never heard of collections being able to charge over **% in interest on top of the original amount. I really don't how to go about resolving this. I am hoping you can assist me or help me investigate how they are able to charge me continuous interest of $********.

      Business Response

      Date: 03/02/2025

MetCredit only acts as agent for ****** and any interest added to the overdue balance is done so on the instructions of ******. The interest rate applied is **% compounding which is the interest rate contained in the ****** service agreement. The high amount of accrued interest is due to the fact that this account has been outstanding for over four and a half years. While the complainant may have moved over the years ****** has not. The complainant was free to contact ****** at any time to discuss resolving his account.

We recommend that the complainant contact our office at ************** and speak to one of our agents about the repayment options available.

      Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: You people (****** and MetCredit) are so full of lies. While you can claim that ****** has not moved, it still does not justify the fact that you are trying to collect $********. When I spoke to *******, the President for *************************** he stated on a recorded conversation (CaseID: ***********: Account: ********* Contact Number: ************** or **************) that the final balance owing was $******** before it was handed over to a third-party collection agency named MCA Collection on April 18, 2019. I tried to resolve the matter with ******* by working out a settlement but he made a point that once file a is passed over to a third-party, they no longer have rights to it. ******* made it clear the FINAL balance owing was $******** and the account was cancelled on March 12, ******************************************** April 2020, the account was sold to ********************.... ****CONTINUED IN ATTACHMENT

      ********** SEE ATTACHED ********

      Business Response

      Date: 05/02/2025

MCA and MetCredit are the same entity. *** is short from for Metropolitan Credit ************ doing business as MetCredit. MetCredit only acts a third party agent for ****** and the outstanding debt is owed to ****** and has not been sold to MetCredit or any other entity. The interest rates are set by ****** in accordance with the ***** terms of service agreement that the complainant was bound by. The interest rate is 24% and not 50% as the complainant have incorrectly stated. The large amount of interest accrued is a direct result of the complainant ignoring this debt for over 6 years.

We have sent the complainant numerous emails over the years offering an opportunity to settle however the complainant have failed to respond. As stated previously MetCredit always been willing to discuss repayment options with the complainant and would recommend that the complainant call our office or respond to the email sent to him by MetCredit on Feb. *, 2025.

I would like to point out that the BBB does not have any legal jurisdiction to conduct investigations or adjudicate matters.
