I signed papers to purchase a vehicle and trade in my old vehicle on February 24, 2025. I just received my registration papers today, 2 months after I received my new car. Race auto group was supposed to pay off my loan on my trade in and after speaking to the company that holds my loan for the car I traded in, I found out they have not attempted to pay off my loan even though they took possession of my old vehicle 2 months ago. I have been paying 2 car payments for 2 months and I only have 1 car. They do refund the payment every 2 weeks after I call them and everytime they apologize and advise that it will be taken care of and it never is. I want them to honor their end of the contract and pay off my old vehicle that they have had for 2 months and could have sold already.

I have confirmed that the ****** ********* loan was paid out, if there were payments that she was not reimbursed then please have her contact the accounting department to be reinbursed. We moved the whole accounting department from the Truro location and closed the location and thus we had some issues during that time. We will issue a $200 gift card to the service department for the issues ****** encountered.

I can confirm that Race Auto Group has finally paid off the loan for my trade in. I was calling the company every two weeks after I received the vehicle to have my other car payment refunded to me. After lodging my complaint with the Better Business Bureau action was finally taken. I filed the complaint on April 29, 2025 and the loan company for my trade in vehicle stated that they received a check on May 2, 2025. 2 months after I signed the papers for the new vehicle.

As to the response to my complaint from Race Auto Group, I have not heard anything about a $200 gift card for service for my vehicle. Race Auto Group can keep the $200 gift card as I highly doubt that I will be using them in the future, as I would have been out a lot of money had I not been on them every two weeks for refunds and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

      You can close this complaint.
As I'm no longer paying for 2 vehicles while I only have one. I know that processing these types of transactions can take time but two months was a little too much.

I was interested in buying a car. I went to Race Auto on April 8. I told the dealer I had never financed a car before. We went through the process of what I believed was a pre-sale agreement and the car would not be financed until I produced a piece of identification and got insurance. When I discovered the cost of insurance and realized I could not afford the car, I told the dealer on April 9. He assured me the deal was not finalized on the 9th. Then he forced through the loan which appeared on April 10.
In addition, I was shown a car price of 19,292.93 and asked if it included interest. The dealer told me it did but when I got my loan agreement it was clear it did not.

I have received 5 messages from Race Auto Group addressed to "C**********". After each message I have stated that I am not C********** and that they remove my number. They have assured me 3 times that my number has been removed yet they continue to message me. After the last assurance, I informed them that if I receive another message I will consider it harassment and contact the BBB. Despite that, I continue to receive messages. I want them to stop messaging me. I do not trust their assurances that they have done so.

Asked business race auto group to stop contacting me and they would not comply. Laughed in my face and lied when I phoned to speak to owner about my concerns. Still received texts after numerous times blocking and reporting numbers. No follow up and no apology of any sort. Told me it was my fault

Customer asked to be removed from our sales list and we did so, he called and kept calling and swearing at the manager. Then the manager hung up as he does not have to tolerate that behavior from anyone. C**** called continuously and then he threatened to burn down our building and was told if there was any further calls we would call the ******* He has been removed. He had contacted us about a car on Feb.21 2025 ands sales simply followed up.

Race auto group had an ad from February 1 to February 28. If you upgrade your vehicle, you’d get a $500 **** prepaid I purchased the vehicle and now they’re telling me I didn’t qualify for the **** Because they discount the vehicle, but they did not discount the vehicle at all. very poor service I felt like I was being pressured in buying a vehicle from them I even come out and told them that there was three of them messaging me at the same time and then there was a $500
promotion they had going on if you upgrade your vehicle from February 1 to February 28
you would receive a $500 **** apparently I did not qualify for this because after they told me, I got such a good deal on my vehicle, which I did not get that great of a deal and before you buy a vehicle from them, they constantly message you but soon as you get the vehicle they don't want nothing to do with you. Very poor service.
Next time I will be going elsewhere, but this is my third vehicle from them this is the worst experience i ever had. The promotion does not state if you get a good deal on a vehicle that you do not receive the $500 promotion. One of the attachments shows that if I buy tires, my payment would be this much if I don’t want the tires my payment would bethis much so I basically got the tires. I paid for them through my loan but yet they’re trying to say now that the $500 was the tires But it was not you can see that in one of the attached emails.

Mr ******* started looking at upgrading his vehicle in August 2024. His trade in had high mileage, and he owed $15000 more than it was worth and was likely going to start costing more on repairs and maintenance. Mr. ********* limited budget and the large amount owed on his current vehicle made finding a new car within his price range extremely difficult; he also needed a car valuable enough for the bank to allow the $15,000 he still owed to be added to a new loan without putting cash down. After months of negotiations, and trying to get many vehicles approved, we reached an agreement. However, Mr. ******* then insisted on a second set of all-season tires, free of charge.

***************** clearly states that the $500 gift card Mr. ******* mentioned depends on our suggested sales price, not discounted prices, and that it's not combinable with other discount or promotions.

I am rejecting this response because:

They are lying through their teeth. I’m sick of this. The tires were not free at all and I have to keep repeating it over and over and on my paperwork it does not state anywhere. There was $2500 taken off the vehicle whatsoever. I think I’ll just go get a ****** if nothing’s going to be solved going this way

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding my recent experience with Race Auto Group NS. I needed a new vehicle but had less-than-perfect credit and an outstanding loan from a totaled car. J***** initially offered me a financing option that was nearly $80 over my budget. When I expressed that it wasn’t feasible, he emphasized how much time he had spent on my file, making it feel more like a guilt trip than genuine customer service. He used terms like “this deal is for today only” or “time’s running out,” which added pressure I didn’t need. At one point, he told me that by exploring other financing options, I had ruined my chances of approval, which caused significant stress. Eventually, he found a vehicle in my price range, but the experience after signing the papers was frustrating. The car was coming from another province, and communication dropped off. Before purchasing, J***** was constantly reaching out, but after I signed, I heard almost nothing unless I initiated contact. They only offered a loaner before the purchase and never mentioned it again after.

Eventually, I was told the car was being detailed and would be ready soon. A few more days passed, and I learned that the windshield had been replaced, which delayed things further. My dad, who was buying a car from the same dealership, mentioned they were short on mechanics, which explained the delays—something I was never told directly. When I finally received the car, I noticed the Motor Vehicle Inspection (MVI) sticker was for only one year instead of the required two. I contacted J****** who said he would speak to the mechanics, but days passed with no response. After following up multiple times, I reached out to another team member, S****, who resolved the issue immediately. I appreciate S****** efforts in correcting this. This company has been horrible to deal with and also offer fake promotions !

Sales and the business managers worked N******* file by getting her a $1500 reduction off the selling price so her $6400 insurance payout shortfall would be covered in the bank's approval and thus not require any cash down. N***** stated she would not be able to put any cash into the deal. The business managers were able to get the bank to drop the interest rate from the initial approval of 14.99% to a discounted rate at 13.99% to assist in reducing the payments, although a higher payment than N***** would have liked. Our inventory turns over monthly and the reality is we had one suv that met N******* requirements and met the bank's guidelines for N******* approval without cash down. We tried everything we had in stock and other cars that we had access to get the lowest payment possible. We sell 80-00 cars a month and inexpensive cars like N******* are sold as soon as they hit the lot. Bank approvals do expire and interest are at lender's discretion and do change frequently, so yes, there is an urgency for most cars that are sold. We provide a higher level of service than any dealer and we have for 20 years.

The disputed amount of $14,000 for a car that was sold at $14,500 is not realistic.

We honor all promotions when a customer qualifies, as stated on our website. Approved credit determines eligibility for promotions, and these are not combinable with other discounts.

I purchased a vehicle of Race Auto Group that had to be fixed before it was sent to me. I was assured that I had 30 days to exchange the vehicle no hassle if anything was wrong with it since I didn't get to test drive it and that's there policy anyway. It took over two weeks for me to get the vehicle and when I did it broke down again with the exact same issue it had before. I told the company that I didn't feel that this vehicle was reliable and wanted an exchange. they told me that they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle even though I have a Police report that it broke down in the middle of a turn on the Highway blocking traffic which put myself and everyone else on the road in danger. I was left in limbo with the company for weeks until they said that my vehicle had been fixed and it was a sensor. i agreed to take the vehicle back but told them I would want an exchange if it broke down again. Two days into driving the vehicle the same thing happened as I was making a left turn the vehicle broke down again in the middle of the street. I sent the vehicle back. I contacted the company to get my exchange or a refund at this point. Every time I called I was ghosted and told I would be called back which surprisingly I wasn't. I spoke to who I was told was the sales manager and he was talking to the owner and he would call me back that night or the next day, he didn't. After another week of not having my calls returned I contacted them today to let them know I was going to the BBB and the media, I got a call right back saying my broken down vehicle was fixed and ready I declined taking this vehicle back as I have no faith in it and wanted the exchange I was promised I could have to begin with. I was told that I would not be getting an exchange so I asked for a refund which was also denied.

******, the 2017 Tucson has been repaired with no costs to you. Unfortunately with older cars they occasionally need extra repairs, we try our best to put reliable cars on the road and sometimes we run into issues.

Yes we do have a 30 day exchange policy that has since passed, we certainly would do an exchange if it were possible. The issue is we have is you have a very limited approval for you and based on your credit file, that has a recent repossession along with a very poor credit rating its not just that simple to trade keys for another car.

The Tucson was discounted to fit that approval and we have tried virtually every car on the lot for you to exchange or trade out. Everything we have tried needs a significant cash down payment and the lender will not advance more funds until there is a much better payment history on your credit file. My suggestion is to pay for the Tucson for 12-24 months on time and we will get you an approval and interest rate half of what you are paying now, a car loan is one of the best ways to improve your credit rating. We could certainly also look at something newer if you did have a down payment or a co signer with a good credit rating.

We can deliver the Tucson to you today.

Purchased a 2019 ***** ridgeline from there. During negotiations I stated we would need a second set of tires this spring and would like another set of tires with the vehicle. The sales agent D**** added a tire package to the deal which was discussed but they didn’t check what was on the vehchile and just went ahead and ordered winter tires. When we came to pick up the truck two weeks later finally we pointed out right away we had two sets of winters and we wanted one winter set one all season for the summer as was discussed in our meeting. D**** agreed they messed up and would fix the issue. We noticed when we got home there was a nail in the old set of tires and wear on the side walls. We told him are issues and he agreed they made mistakes and he would make it right. We came back with the tires spoke to him and he again assured me he would make it “even if he had to pay out of pocket for the mistake” I then received a call a few days later telling me they “patched the tire and I had to pick them up “ we are not a storage unit” from Z****** in the service department I then messaged D**** and he explained they would replace the tire and it wasn’t his fault because he had only been on the job for two months and I was one of his first sales his bad sorry for the inconvenience. I called him and explained my frustrations and he could only get them to agree to pay for two tires and I’d have to pay for two. I paid for the new tires and now they want my to pay for two more because they made a mistake and now I’m suppose to spend another $400+ for tires that I’ve already paid for but they ordered the wrong tires. I came in a few days later spoke to S**** the sales manager who is saying it was 50/50 fault and they will not pay for the complete issue. “I should of own what was on the truck “ they wrote winter tire package on the due bill so I should of know even though we had a verbal agreement I would have a second set of tires not the same type of tires on there now

Race agreed to put new winter tires and winter rims on the Ridgeline. The current tires would remain on the alloy rims, that were measured as treads of 6,6,6 and 7 at no point did we get asked to have new all seasons on the alloy wheels or to buy new all seasons, if the tires on the alloys were less than 50% we have put tires on the alloys and this is not the case. We then offered to pay for 2 and the customer pay for 2 and this was not good enough. The salesperson then offered to pay for 2 out of his own pocket, which tells you the type of person he is. I thought we had come to a resolution.

I was called and told this offer was off and they would not stay to this agreement. If this option is still available I will agree to this.i was upset and felt attacked by S**** and felt threatened when he called to come to an agreement and said I would have to write any apology and reviews for them. I’m deeply upset and hurt by this interaction and just want this settled and taken care of.

Yes, we had come to an agreement that we would get 4 all season tires for your ***** Ridgeline. We then received this complaint after we agreed to put all season tires on the Factory rims, even though we did not promise any extra NEW all season tires. The due bill attached does not mention or promise any extra tires other than the Winter tires that were provided. We have completed all items the items on the due bill as promised. S****** frustration stemmed from spending most of the morning resolving the situation, then to receive your complaint. As long as the complaint remained posted, S**** considered the resolution unacceptable. We take care of our customers and honor the terms that we agree too on each sale and we certainly did not agree on extra NEW tires. If you remove the complaint by the end of day Monday, I will mount the all-season tires on the rims on Tuesday; otherwise, please pick up your rims on Tuesday.

      Business Response

      Date: 03/02/2025

      • Good Afternoon, we made a deal with N***** and that was to include winter tires and rims and keep the existing tires that where on the factory alloy wheels. We at no point agreed to give her all season tires for the alloy wheels. The tires on alloys are 50% worn with lots of life left as measured and inspected by our licensed mechanic. N***** brought in a friend and argued that the tires didn't pass inspection, he claimed he was a mechanic and is not a licensed mechanic. The due bill she signed is attached stating that she receives winter tires and rims and nothing further. The problem is N***** assumed the alloy rims would have all season tires, and they do not, we were not asked or questioned to have the alloys have all season tires, if she had wanted all season tires on the alloys I would have charged appropriately.

Race had agreed to cover the cost of 2 all season tires and N***** 2 and this still was not to her satisfaction, the salesman then offered to pay for the other 2 out of his pocket as he did not want there to be bad feeling when she should have been excited about her new car. We had thought this was settled then we have this BBB complaint thus frustrating everyone.
We already made a deal and then N***** wanted to change the deal after the fact, I agreed to throw in a couple of tires and that's not good enough. If we had agreed to all season tires it would be on the due bill and it's not, I will honor that I agreed to throw 2 tires in for no charge.

I purchased a vehicle October 18th 2024... at this time I traded in my previous vehicle.... I was advised that the payout would be sent to the previous loan funder at this time... however here we are 2 months later and I'm still having payments come out of my account from the previous lender and race auto has not yet managed to send them the cheque to cover the payout...so I'm now paying for 2 vehicles, one of which race auto now owns... I have attempted to contact race several times and my calls and messages are going unanswered.... I am a single mom of 2 small children living on my sole income and I can not afford to make 2 car payments every two weeks.... this is ridiculous, further more it is affecting my credit as the previous lender is continuing to report the unmade payments...which if race auto had sent the payout when they should have, I wouldn't be having this issue

Erin, sorry for the delays on the payout. You did pickup your new car on the 18th of October however we did not receive the funds until the first of November, then the paperwork gets processed in accounting. Accounting then sent payment to **** ****** your old loan company for your trade in and this check was not cashed as **** have been bought by ********* *********. Once this was discovered we put a stop payment on that check and reissued a new check to ********* ********** this check was sent Express post and is now stuck in the mail with the current strike. I have asked accounting to put a stop payment on the check and courier a replacement today, nothing will be reflected on your credit, This is simply a tactic loan companies use to scare you, this will be all cleared and posted by Friday. We are sorry for the delay and if you incurred and bank fees please send us proof and we will have it reimbursed immediately. I will also advise the service department to issue a $200 service credit for the issues.

      thanks

On August 30 2024, my son and I bought a car at Race Auto Group Sackville , we spoke to J***** the sales rep , we pick up a ********** but J***** told us since my son is going to school and as a student the **** Titanium 2014 was better for him but told us we can’t drive test unless there is a safety sticker , He told us everything g will be running as it should , I paid the amount thru my credit cards I requested to put my son name as he will use it to school , 2 weeks later J***** call him and told him the car has been safety inspected , my son drove the car but after more than 30 mins when he tried to turn the wheels , the steering wheel wasn’t working and the horn doesn’t work , he almost got to an accident J***** told us to bring the car back to garage. i told to my son not todrive the unsafe car but he was told to bring the car back ,I decided to come . I’m driving in front of him and he was at the back on our way to Race Auto with hazard lights on , 3 weeks later J***** called back and said the car is ready , but again when my son drove the car the car steering wheels still not fix , the only thing they fix was the horn we asked for my money back but was told there is no refund , I requested a. Exchange he told us they could trade in , I spoke with J***** and S**** the sales manager and promised me that they will return all the money . V**** *******, is not on her 30 year old sons contract and if he wanted to discuss the contract we would gladly would discuss. He purchased a $9995 2014 car and he was unhappy with the car after we repaired it several times at no charge on a MVI only car that was sold as is and with no warranty. We do not offer exchanges or refunds on these type of sales. We took the car on trade for a more expensive car and he was given a trade value of exactly what he paid $9995, this amount is deducted from the selling price and taxes are only charged on the difference, he was not charged the full 15% on the full selling price, he was not charged any admin fee (we charge $599 on all deals) we also did not charge any fees to get the licencing redone at Access NS. We did not have to take this car back for $9995, but did so as they were unhappy. If I were taking that car on trade today I would pay $5000, they got an amazing deal and discounts, he also got the lowest interest rate available.

We look after our customers if C*** wanted to discuss he can contact me.

The **** Focus was traded in by C*** ********* and not V**** *******. C*** received the full purchase price as a trade in for C***** new car the 2017 ****** Sentra and all additional fees were waived ($750) for the new purchase on a car.  IF I were taking that **** Focus on trade today it would have a trade value of $5000 today. There is no return policy on older MVI only, as is cars like this **** Focus, in fact we do not have a return policy it is an exchage policy signed by C****

“THERE IS NO REFUND ON THE VEHICLE.” RACE AUTO GROUP DOES HAVE A: 30 DAY OR 2000KM “ONE TIME” EXCHANGE POLICY, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST! THIS PERTAINS TO VEHICLES WHICH HAVE “UNFORESEEN” EXCESSIVE MECHANICAL REPAIRS.

We completed necessary repairs, I personally drove the car after it was serviced and found no issues, it did not drive like a brand new car but drove certainly very well without any issues.

W**** is not on the new bank contracts, bill of sale or the registration of the new car. C*** was advised to read his warranty contract that he signed for the cancellation policy terms and conditions. ******* **** prevent any disclosure to V**** *******, if C*** wished to discuss what could be done with the warranty purchase, he signed and agreed too, he should contact us, and we can advise of his options. We will deal with C*** and only C*** as W**** as yelled and been extremley abusive to all staff.
      Happy to discuss with C****

I am rejecting this response because: The response was not correct it was a lie to depend their company’s true objective  to sell a car that does not work  and if the buyer complain they will trade it in to the lowest price this is how they make money .  I was scammed by your company  , I’ve been rude and did this complaint because   I did the transactiion , I’m too stupid to believe all the promised of your sales rep    , I fill up the application and placed my  son name as he will be the driver  , I pay using my credit card I signed the Deed of Sale and more . I pay $12,681.52 to the car that you are selling we waited to put a safety sticker on it  but when we drive it there is no honk and the steering wheel is not working and almost had an accident after you stick you safety sticker on the car , your mechanic authority to sign the MVI should be revoked  , who’s customer will be happy for this we drive for 30 mins you told us you will trade it in for $5,000 , change your position you are the buyer are you gonna be happy ?

You forced and threatened ud  to buy the extended warranty thank god our bank called you and cancel it as you guys declined our request to cancell it . You guys are fraud and deceved people just to make money . *** **** *** * *** ***** . Stop you can make money without hurting other people specially people that work  hard . Be fair .
