I have a 2014 Touareg TDI which developed an oil leak on left cylinder head/valve cover @170,000km. The Extended Emissions Warranty VWC issued resulting from Emission Recall 23V6 (VW Diesel *******) for my car is valid until Apr 28, 2024 or 193K km whichever comes first. On that comprehensive warranty it stated, among many things, "Additionally, the engine long block warranty shall cover the engine subassembly that consists of the assembled block, crankshaft, cylinder head, camshaft and valve train." I brought the car for the oil leak repair at a VW dealer and sought reimbursement from Volkswagen Canada (VWC) but was denied. After my numerous emails and voice calls to VWC, VWC reasoned that the dealer said the left valve cover oil leak was not covered under the extended emissions warranty. I argued that only VWC has sole decision on warranty coverage and I even presented a comprehensive list of parts covered (which included the cylinder head cover) from VW USA Bulletin VWP-17-12 which I believe VWC has a similar if not the same list (which they are not disclosing), to no avail. VWC not honoring their commitment per the Extended Emissions Warranty, ** ** ******** ** ********** ********** *** **************** I also currently have a 2021 Audi S4 and am now worried that should some warranty-covered defect arise VWC may deny/not honor their warranty obligation. I will not be here if VWC did not have this Diesel ******* and issued the Extended Emission Warranty. Very disappointing.

I bought a 2015 Golf TDI in 2019. In February 2022 the Adblue warning light came on with a mileage countdown that car would not start after 500km if the issue isn’t fixed.
It turns out to need a new Adblue tank, covered under warranty, just have to wait for the part… it is now 18 months later the eta on the part is always next month… it never comes. It is never going to come. Even if it arrives, my car is nothing but junk. VW say they care about costs and the customer.. to date the rental vehicle has cost over $25k the parts to get the car road worthy will exceed $5k. The local dealer are trying to facilitate a trade assistance but VW Canada will not cooperate. They don’t care about the wasted money or customer. Looking for legal action or a reasonable solution.

2015 Jetta TDI owner from new. Most reliable car I ever bought. Only regular maintenance and no complaint. I did read the reviews here and seems like the dealerships are to blame not VW Canada

A WARNING and subsequent recall (42J5) was issued by Volkswagen in 2019 concerning incorrectly manufactured rear suspension coil springs that could fail spontaneously and cause loss of vehicle control for Golf hatchbacks model years 2015 thru 2019. My 2017 Golf TSI, with 56,000 kms, rear passenger coil spring failed while driving on 400 series highway - luckily there was no tragic incident and I was able to identify the broken component. Upon some investigation I became aware of the 'rear coil spring' recall and contacted my dealership to learn that "unfortunately" my vehicle was not included in the recall and that 'curiously' there is a North American shortage and months long backorder of these specific coil springs -- why VW is there such demand for such an integral component to the safety of the car?? Is it possible that the original recall did not capture all defective parts and affected vehicles? I contacted VW Canada to voice my displeasure and submit a safety concern (which was denied). As recourse I filed a complaint to Transport Canada’s Defect Investigations and Recalls Division to ensure this issue is recorded. The lack of attention to this matter and the inconvenience of not having access to a vehicle for months is both concerning and unacceptable.

This is the worst company and people to deal with. They have no clue what good customer service is and an awful after-purchase care.
I leased my VW Atlas 2022 from ***** ** ******. It broke down three times since November 6, 2022. The third time it broke down was in the middle of a snow storm on the 23rd of December on my way to Boston for the holidays.
It was a painful horrific experience. I put my kids in danger and at risk of being stranded on the road.
The first time it broke down, the service department at ***** ** ****** claimed that there was no issue with the car, but then resorted to change the starter the second time it broke down.
In December, when it broke down for the third time, ******** ** *** ***** (after 19 days) found an abnormal defect in the guidance system that lead (as they claim) to all the previous issues with the car.
None of these dealerships accepted to give me a loaner or rent me a car to continue my trip for the holidays despite the fact that this car is a lease.
I contacted VW Care Canada and explained the issue. They asked me to rent a car out of pocket and get it reimbursed through the warranty claim once the car is fixed.
They did not uphold to any of these promises. They sent me a check for $665 ($35/day) out of the $2,756 I spent on a small/intermediate car rental for 19 days. That is <25% of what I paid. And to top that ** ******** *** ******* refused to mail me the check to Ottawa.
I spoke yesterday with a VW Customer Care representative, who brushed me off and said that this is the policy and they cannot do anything about it.
It is unfair and unacceptable to deal with people leasing a brand new 2022 German-made SUV the way they are doing. This has to be looked into. I need your help.

I bought my golf from barrie volkswagen in June. Dealing with them has been terrible. I bought a certified pre owned vehicle. Test driving it I noticed a nail in the tire and the hair bag light which I was told would all be taken care of once receiving it was not. I had to take it back for the nail and they told me they had no time for the airbag so I had to take it to another vw. Recently I had problems with my review mirror falling off. It took me 2 weeks to get a hold of them calling them everyday and being told someone will call me back they never did. I then took it in to have a look they said I needed to see a glass repair guy and they'd call me with an appointment. Once again none ever called me again another 2 weeks of me calling and finally getting the appointment for the glass guy to tell me I need a new windshield. I went into the dealership this time as I knew calling wouldn't do me any help. They promised someone would call me. Another 2 weeks of calling for them to tell me they will not be paying for this problem to be fixed. So almost 2 months of no rear view mirror and dealing with this disrespectful service and no problem solved. They could have been straight up with me from the beginning about not paying for it and I would have been able to get it fixed way sooner. * *** ******* *** **** ** **** ***** ***** ** ** ******* **** **** ********* ** ** ********* I always buy vws and I'm sad that this experience will lead to not buy one in the future.

I purchased a brand new TAOS Highline 2022 on Feb 27th 2023 and I took my car to the first maintenance on January 14th, 2023 at 15128 KM. Diagnostic results say that my front brake pads are 12 mm but rear pads are 3 mm. Apparently, this is not normal. Normally, front pads wears out faster than rear pads because the front pads need to handle the most of the force when you brake. Also, the gap between front are rear is huge, so it shouldn't be related to my driving, and I don't drive aggressively. After I did some research on the internet, I see that a lot of Taos owners are having the same experience and their rear brake pads worn out very quickly. I believe it's a design issue of the dust shields on the rear tires. This is not my first car and not my first VW car. I drove more than 60000 km with my old two VW cars and I just changed my brake pads one time and they were all worn out at the same time..
My dealership told me that they can't change it under warranty because it should be less than 2mm, so basically they expect us to drive without pads if we want them to be changed under warranty and don't care about our safety at all. Thus, I contacted VW Canada about this issue and They call me back on 24th Jan and I provided diagnostic results and explained the situation. Then they called me back a week later and informed me that my rear brake pads will be changed under warranty and my dealership was informed. I called my dealership to book an appointment but they said nobody informed them and I have to pay if it's not less than 2mm. I sent another email to VW and told them that my dealership doesn't know anything about my case. On Feb 9th @ 13:15 PST, VW called me again and said sorry about inconvenience and that they already informed again the dealership. However, my dealership still has no information about my case. After that I realized that they're playing with me until my car's warranty expires on 27th Feb, 2023. You lost a loyal VW owner.

I have a 2017 VW Golf *** ** *** ****** ** ******* *** ****** ****** *** ***** ********* ******* *** ****** ******. It all started a few years back when the sunroof was recalled. And it went from there. The sunroof was the only issue they covered. I live on the west coast and at times I was unable to get my car across the island and I am now very much aware that they only care to service the east coast of the island, safely and cost effectively for a customer.
I had a car for 7 years that was already 7 years old and never had an itch. I haven't had a break with this car. Last august I was told the clock spring was broke. The airbag and all the steering wheel functions crashed. I ended up paying all out of pocket for this 5 months ago and here I am again dealing with another broken clock spring. it is clearly an issue with faulty parts and they are still being sent out of the warehouse to garages for replacements. So now I am expected to be out money again for labor and perhaps to have the car checked. I know it's the clock spring. The thing is I have never had a clock spring break, and now it happens twice? And I am out time that I can't get back and completely wasted with being sent to this one and that one and wasted time when I feel for the most part I am talking to a computer, and money. I have an unsafe car sitting in my driveway and I am concerned now that it has been unsafe for the last 5 months even after I had it "fixed". Any one else having this problem? Has anyone went civil law with VW?

My wife has a 2017 Jetta with the 1.4L engine. On 27 Dec, it suddenly developed a fuel leak. We found out that there had been a recall on the fuel rail attachment bolts, and had it towed to the dealership.
We were informed that we had had the recall carried out August 2021; it was now Dec 2022, and with an additional 32,000km they claimed that it was out of warranty; and it would cost us $1900 to repair.
When we contacted VW Canada, we were told that there shouldn’t be a mileage limitation as there was a 24 month warranty on parts. When we heard back, we were told that the attachment bolts were a wear part and out of warranty.
So our situation is this: with 119,000km on it, and no fuel leaks, we were diligent and brought the car in to have a safety recall completed. The recall was to upgrade the four mounting bolts that held the fuel rail in place. After getting the recall service done, a bolt failed and it developed a leak at less than 1/4 of the time that had been on the original factory equipment.
Understanding from the dealership that these are a single use (torque-to-yield) bolts, there are only a couple of conclusions that can be reached.
    1. The replacement bolts had a manufacturer’s defect, or
    2. The technician at the dealership overtorqued the bolts on installation, or
    3. The technician at the dealership, upon inspection and seeing the original bolts were not leaking, did not perform the recall service. Instead claiming to have done the service, getting reimbursed from corporate and waiting until it breaks on its own and charging the customer for repairs.
I would think that either of the first two scenarios are the most likely, but the third is not impossible.
In any case, the onus should not be on my wife and I to pay for repairs that are, at best, overly premature; or at worst, negligent.
Update: Volkswagen Canada says they will not cover the costs because we stopped getting the dealer servicing done after the vehicle warranty expired.
