  Debt helpers has been very helpful with my consumer proposal, significantly reducing my monthly payments.
  My only criticism is that I seem to be talking to a different person every time we communicate. It would have been much more helpful to have the continuity of speaking to the same person each time.

  I was having a hard time trying to keep up on Bill's and as soon as I called Debt helpers. They were happy to help and was quick on getting me information. Really friendly an go over and above.

  My initial call was great. I talked to a guy named **** *******. He is a Financial Advisor out of the Mississauga ON Branch. He made me feel realy comfortable with the procedure and all that jazz so I set up the 60 month plan to get my credit back in place. Well the next week I my workplace laid me off due to one of their automotive clients discontinuing business with them. So I emailed **** and also called and told them my circumstance and told them i had to cancel the arrangement. we hadnt even started yet. in fact it was almost 2 weeks before my first payment. it was wednesday when i got laid off and my payment was on the following friday. I emailed **** the week before my first payment was to come out and thought that i called in and cancelled as well but turns out I called a completely different company...well friday came by and i went to go use my bank card at restaurant and it declined. Quite embarrassing to ask my date to pay for dinner. it made no sense because i had over $200 dollars in there. so I got ahold of **** and said what is going on here I thought i cancelled. Long story short some how he didnt get the email and like I said I will own that somehow I called the wrong compant when cancelling. so water under the bridge. Told **** that i will still coninue the service but we will have to set it up a few weeks from now and can start back up once my ei kicks in. and the conversation was done. Well I go to use my bank card again yesterday and it happened again. another charge from debthelpers. I emailed **** and said what part of the converstaion did you have a hard time understanding. i told you to stop the service. this is word for word what **** sent to me in email...
  "As I explained you signed a contract.
  Your payments will continue until you have fulfilled your obligation"
  REALLY?!?!
  i am still in disbelief of this *** **** ******* ** * ******** *****E

  I'm a 73 year old widower with debt with CRA and a few small creditors. I found the ads for debt helpers.ca and decided to contact about a consumer proposal. I started the process in September, 2022. Months later the process was still on going and I was set to make 3 payment of$400 for fees. I was told to expect to pay about $300 a month with the proposal once approved. I do not work at my age and health conditions so my income is quite low. It would be hard to afford any new bills. But$300 sounded like a something I could work with. Finally in March I was told my monthly fee would be $490 a month. They say this is because my house is worth too much. My son told me about a local insolvency agency that he has used and trusted. I called that company and with in three days, they had collected every detail of the situation and had gone over my paperwork with depthelpers and ******* (which they did not do themselves with me.) this new agency determined they could find me a better and affordable deal with my creditors around$150 to$200. They had me sign a contract stating the cancellation of the proposal that was ongoing with *******/debt helpers and would take over the process themselves. This new company also would include the fees they would be charging in the proposal. Now debt helpers will not refund that original $1200 because they feel they did all of this hard work. It took them months and still had no deal with CRA yet. They also negotiated a deal with all kinds of false details of my situation that likely lead to such bad offers. They had my house value listed at $100,000 more then it actually was. They had my mortgage payment listed at half of what I actually pay. They had my late wife's CRA debt listed in my debts which turns out is not my debt and even the new agency was confused why it was included.I have debt with utility companies that I found out could be included helping me even more. This was a near disaster. I want a refund. * **** **** **** ****** ***

  Contacted this company for services that were never done and now they refuse to give me back a refund! Was told that they would not do anything with my file until the full legal fees were paid in full. Now that I have decided to cancel, they are telling me that they can not refund my money because of the work they did on my file. What work????
  First of all they took out money from my account the very next day even before I signed anything!!
  Sent the information they requested and advised them to let me know if I was missing anything else. Over a week goes by and ask for an update and only then did they inform me that I was still missing information. If I had not reached out and asked for an update, I would not have known that I was missing information!!! When I questioned it, I was told that they are busy and have a lot more customers to deal with. Horrible customer service!!!!!
  That was it, I decided to cancel and requested a refund. Then I get an email stating that they were not going to provide a refund to cover the work that they did. WHAT WORK?????
