Hometurf Lawn Care are undoubtedly the most unprofessional service I have ever dealt with. Unlike other lawn services I have used, they didn't call to notify me of a service the next day. This was in May, I believe. I had a 100 foot garden hose on the lawn, and they either sprayed and fertilized it too or didn't do a third of the lawn. I called to ask them why they would operate this way. Why wouldn't they ring the doorbell? Why wouldn't they call in advance like other lawn companies? There was a reapplication and a promise to call the day before.
They called yesterday (July 10) to let me know that the application would happen today, but I forgot and left the same garden hose on the lawn. They either sprayed and fertilized it or didn't do a third of the lawn. I called and got awful customer service as usual. Eventually, I got a message confirming that the hose had not been sprayed but the whole backyard had been treated. How could that be possible? How can a whole lawn be sprayed when a 100 foot garden hose is sitting there?. Anyway, I called and finally got a manager, who kept interrupting me and talking over me and then dug deep into her customer service training to ask me to not raise my voice, which I had to do because she kept interrupting me and talking over me. I told her that I wanted my services cancelled and a refund for the remainder, ands he said "no". She kept saying that they were going to rectify the situation and that the technician is coming back; I said that no one told me that. I asked why they cannot ring the doorbell like other services; she said that they are not trained to do that, even though other companies do it. The lawn analysis also says that there is crabgrass in the lawn; there is definitely no crabgrass in the lawn, as there isn't even a dandelion. I reiterated that I wanted my services cancelled and a refund for those services yet done. She declined.Business Response

We tried Hometurf services in 2013 but the quality of service and end results were not as good as we had hoped. Weeds were not removed properly and it was clear that care was not taken to tend to our yard. Therefore, my husband has been tending the lawn himself for the following 9 years. Last year, my husband had surgery so we decided to try their service again but still did not do a good job. We did not join the program this year (2023).
However, 2 months ago their associate left a bag of grass seed on our front door. I told him we did not join the program but for some reason, he said we still needed to cancel it. I asked him to please cancel it for me and he took the bag with him and left.
On May 23, 2023 I saw a bag of grass seed on our front door again so I took the picture and sent an email to their company mentioning that we did not join their program this year. I requested to have them to check their system in case there was an error and asked to send an associate to pick up the bag. No one replied to my email so I called them and finally had a returned email response stating, "Thank you for contacting us. Per your request we have cancelled your account. We hope that we can work with you again in the future. Should you have any questions or concerns please let us know.".
With this response, I thought we were done with this issue! However, I received another email stating "Your Hometurf account is currently more than 30 days past due and has an outstanding balance of $294.82." and Yesterday I received another email asking more ….$300.60 …
why should we pay if we didn’t join their program!!!!!!

I received mail saying I owe HomeTurf money for services that I didn’t sign up to. Even after I was told they cancelled the account I never signed up to. Looks like other customers have complained of the same issues with HomeTurf here on BBB.
I am not one of their customers. I used them last summer and service wasn’t good so I did NOT sign up with them again.
A couple months ago, one of their service guys showed up at my house by surprise and began spraying my lawn without asking. I told him to stop as I didn’t order service this year. He told me to call in to customer service which I did and the lady on the phone said that the company automatically renewed me. I did NOT authorize a renewal with this company. Again, I didn’t sign up with Hometurf this year.
I asked for them to correct this mistake. She checked with her manager and the manager said that I didn’t have to pay anything and that the service has been cancelled now on their end. Nobody has visited me since. I thought issue was resolved.
Yet, today 2 months later I’m still getting an invoice from Hometurf for $374,53. This must be another mistake by them.
I have sent them an email to ask again for cancellation/correction of a mistake they made. With written confirmation.
I’m also filing this complaint here with BBB because I have little confidence they will fix this correctly and cancel the incorrect invoice I received.

My account number is ********. I have not authorized, approved or requested any service from Hometurf for 2023. In April 2023, I noticed an individual on my front lawn. I confronted them and told them that I did not sign up for any services in 2023. I then called the Hometurf head office to confirm that I did not sign up for any services in 2023. They indicated that no charges would be made and that they hoped I return in future years. Despite the conversation, they continue to call me, send me emails and letters demanding payment on an arbitrary amount. I spoke to them again over the phone, and responded to their emails to no avail. It is now June and they continue to ****** me via telephone calls and letters demanding payment. We purchased a lawn care package through Home Turf in 2021 (our ID is ****** **). We opted to have our weed spraying portion of the package turned into a credit to use in 2022. In 2022 we called them and told them that we didn't need grass cutting but simply wanted to use up our remaining weed spray credit with no further services required in the future. We had since moved on to a new lawn care service which they were aware of. The credit with home turf was used in full as agreed upon in 2022.
We did not order, commit to, or sign any contract to receive any service in 2023. Over the past couple months, we have received random receipts in our mailbox for spraying for ** ********** *****, Kitchener which is a street over from us and not our home address. We didn't think anything of it and assumed the team had dropped the receipt off to the wrong house.
We just recieved an invoice in our mailbox with our correct address on it and charges for all of those sprays for ** ********** now applied to our address and account. We called right away and they are trying to claim that we need to pay for services we did not request or agree to.
They are threatening to keep these charges on our account and therefore affecting our credit score. This is completely unacceptable. Could you please assist in getting these charges dropped from our account?Business Response

Hometurf technician came to my property and applied my first treatment of 'B - Weed Control' and 'C - Late Spring Fertilizer'. I am not happy with the treatment because some of the fertilizer was spilled onto my deck and my potted herbs (which were on the deck). I called into customer service asking for cancellation and refund, but this was refused. I asked if it was in the terms of conditions (TOC) where it states a refund is not possible. The agent told me it is part of the TOC. I asked for a copy of this TOC but I have yet to receive it in my email inbox. I also do not see any of such wording on my statement.
I told the agent that I am not able to consume the herbs because they have been applied a fertilizer and weed control product. She told me she would consume the fertilized crops as she does it at her home too. This is not acceptable to me and negates the possibility that my herbs were contaminated with weed control product. Does Hometurf endorse that plants which were applied the fertilizer and weed control product would be suitable for human consumption? If so, I would like to obtain that in writing.
Lastly, she insisted she would process the refund if the problem persists after the second application. She asked for a second chance to fix the problem. This contradicts the no-refund policy as she had explained. There are inconsistencies during this phone call with regards to no-refund policy or the consumption of tampered crops from my garden. The agent should not be providing health advice. There was no apology offered from the misapplication of weed control and fertilizing products. The whole conversation was rushed and I felt belittled. I would like to ask for a refund, a copy of the TOC and a response to whether Hometurf endorses the consumption of herbs after application of their weed control and fertilizing products.Business Response

I believe I made this complaint immediate after the 1st (out of 5) application.While I expected a full refund, even if the business is only refunding the prorated amount, it is not clear how the amount of $141.83 was derived.

For (1), please show an itemized list of which services I was rendered so far. Your team has come to my property once only. I believed I paid for 5 applications. Why is that the refund amount only 57% of the cost I paid? Is the first application more costly than the other? This concern was clearly written in my previous response and you had not acknowledged it. I do not see this as an adequate response.
For (2), this is simply not true. No one had explained that to me. All I got from the 15 second phone call was that whether I want my refund, where I responded 'Yes' before the call ended. Nothing else was discussed. There was no timeline nor expectations discussed. In fact, this refund did not arrive until more than 10 calendars after the aforementioned phone call.

I enrolled with HomeTurf Lawn Care, Mississauga last year with price of $323.91. Everything was fine last year. In the beginning of this spring, I got an invoice of $429 which shocked me. It was an increase of roughly 33%. Not sure if we ever had inflation of that high in Canada.
I called them to negotiate but they disagreed to offer me close to what they offer last year. I decided to cancel it. They told me that it would cost me roughly $200 for cancellation. I assumed they are just *********** me, but this week, I received an invoice in the mail, asking to pay $167 for one visit. I called them but they refused to reverse the charges.
I am looking for help to get this issue resolved.

I am rejecting this response because: Home Turf told me that they sent me 3 reminders for this auto renewal (one in October 2022 (email), One in February 2023 (mail) and one they left on my door when they provided service my lawn. I never received any email or mail from Home Turf. When I asked them to resend me email (which sent me last October), they declined to do so. They mentioned that before this last service (May), they did two more service so these are charges for 3 services. They also confirmed they did first service in March 2023. It hard to believe that they did lawn care service in March when the lawn was covered with snow.Home Turf offered me final cost around $100 but I disagreed. I offered them if it is $60-$70 I can pay but not $100,
If they agrees for $70, I can pay them online.
Please advise me.

My mother has cancelled Hometurf's services many months ago. They treat her lawn without her permission and leave her with a bill. She has contacted them repeatedly and cancelled her account, yet they keep coming to the house. Now she has a balance for services she did not want and were done without her consent. There is an inconsistency between the bill they have sent and the amount they disclosed over the phone. The bill says $357.24 but over the phone they say it's $283.39. Regardless, it is outrageous for her to pay for treatments that she didn't consent to. She should not be held responsible for these charges.Business Response

I am rejecting this response for reasons listed below.1) I clearly stated in a previous email to Ms B. that "I would prefer all communication to be VIA EMAIL for transparency purposes." Yet the company continues to call the house numerous times, leaving messages on the answering machine to pay the amount due.
2) In my last email to Ms B. I asked for proof regarding emails she claims were renewal notices sent to "************@*****.com" I also asked for any contracts that were signed consenting to their terms and agreements. None of which I have received.
Moving forward, I want all communication to occur through the BBB ONLY. We no longer want to speak to HomeTurf directly.

Below is the email that was sent to you outlining the dates the renewal emails were sent. Also our program is continuous which means it is the responsibility of the customer to call in or send a note requesting cancellation. On May 19th a free respray was requested which indicates the service was not cancelled.

My Hometurf a/c # is *******. I have been with them for a few years but find their prices have increased annually, so have cancelled my account about January of this year or late dec. last year.
I was surprised to find a bag of seeds at my door and a bill charging me for the service. I called Home Turf as I had not renewed my order. They said they have no record of my cancellation and that I am liable for the amount owing. $230.39 + int. 4.53. I have tried to resolve this with them but
