1 starwhere to start, my vehicle was stolen and my insurer was nothing but a migraine, problem after problem, Iets start they paid out the vehicle less then msrp (I have gap insurance), my issue and only this happens to me, I have tracer insurance so if vehicle is stolen I receive a credit at the dealer but to get this u need police report, proof of loss (theft) and proof of payment, so I obtained all these except proof of payment, which they lied first that they didn't have the cheque in an email but he also stated he sent me the cheque number and reference number which only reference was given (so this shows he lied about not having the cheque), the refuse multiple times to email me proof of payment and now I'm out 5 thousand dollars, which I am hoping to get back when I sue them, stay far away from this insurance companyReview fromJohn Patrick Z

A Unit Claims Manager has been in touch with the insured to discuss his concerns. We have experienced delays from the first legal representative as we have asked for forms to be submitted but nothing came in. Since the insured switched and now has a new lawyer, we have been getting responses, and allowed us to take a statement and assist with completing the OCF-1. The UCM and adjuster has been coordinating with the insured’s legal representative to follow up on the signed documents and hopefully we should get these in and start determining his entitlement to any benefits.Review fromMarieJosee B

1 starMy car was totalled march 8th and 2 months later, I'm still waiting on the payout to the finance company. To date, FOUR checks have been sent. Apparently they keep getting "lost in the mail". Meanwhile, I can't get another vehicle until my loan is cleared.Review fromAndrea G

Extensive water damage in the basement. It's a leaky pipe. **** ***** ****** ***e there is RUST on the outside of a cast iron pipe and that goes under the "ROT" exclusion. Man broke telephone pole in half & my mailbox. Intact would NOT put claim on him but wanted to put $200 mailbox on mine, since we both deal with intact. My next years rate would go up. With his insurance bill for new pole, many hydro workers, $200 is a drop in bucket. Had to purchase materials & install new box at my expense. I'm the innocent one, even police said so.Intact Insurance

The Claims Manager reached out to the insured on April 30, 2024, and explained to our client that we can not cover the damages to his mailbox as his deductible was more than the loss. The insured felt that the third party should be liable, so the UCM mentioned she will be sending a notice to the Auto claims side to investigate. The insured was pleased with this and will wait to hear from the third-party adjuster.Review fromJeff J

******* **** ******** ********* ** **** ** ******* ******** after over 15 years as a car insurance client and over 20 years as a home insurance customer between Intact and the predecessor firms that it took over in that time. Never submitted a single home insurance claim and yet for a house ridiculously protected from every conceivable emergency imaginable (theft, water damage protection, etc.), the company has done nothing but smack down with huge premium increases, a doubling of the deduction, and "mandatory" supplemental coverage (including over $1000 for "sewer and water overrun" damage even though the property is protected by one bottom-of-driveway drain, two inside-garage drains, a backyard water collector and a weeping system. Don't even get me started on the cars! In their final act, apparently they were unable to collect one single month premium due to what turned out to be a foul-up at the bank that I was unaware of until 10 days after it happened. Intact sent an ********* letter demanding one month of premium with about 15% worth of penalties and the policy would be dropped or seven months of premiums with lots of penalties to continue the policy. Subsequently, they claimed they sent two imaginary warnings ***** ***** *** *** ***** ** **** ***** ***** ***** ****** ** ****** **** *** **** ***** **** ***** ** *** ****** ****** ******** ******** ***** ** ***** *** **** ** ******Intact Insurance

We were able to work with the broker previously to receiving notice from the BBB and reinstated the policy with the previous payment plan still honoured. We have also waived the fees associated with the missed payment.Review frombenjamin b

I cancelled my policy and then two months later I got a letter saying I have outstanding fees that are going to go to collection agency. They have my number and email, why didn't they just take payment when I cancelled the policy? the payment options given don't work because its not an active policy so it wont let me log on and they aren't open weekends... Possible the most frustrating company I have ever dealt with.Intact Insurance

Clearly the Intact Insurance business model has changed and not for the better. We've been a client for well over 20 years. we weren't happy when they took our broker away whom we'd been dealing with for years and understood our needs, and assigned our policy to a 800 number or whomever answered the phone. Service now is lackluster at best. Issue #1) Recently we had a roof claim from a very major hail storm. The Insurance Adjuster assigned the roofing company and the roof was completed last summer. We have made several requests for service and the roofing company ignores us. This spring we will have water leaks in at least two places and the roofing company will not return our calls. They also promised to reimburse the cost of repositioning our satellite and have not done so after we submitted our invoice. Intact has closed our claim. Now what do we do? Issue #2) Our policy which covers all vehicles and our home renews in late March. The renewal documents were emailed to us in late January. Upon review, we identified the need to increase the liability limits on the policy so we called the assigned broker and requested the change. Imagine our surprise, when the new policy arrived with a $55 additional change fee assessed. Considering we added to the policy we feel the charge is nothing but a money grab. Whatever happened to customer service? Used to be our agent would call to discuss our policy and make suggestions about things we should be aware of and review the policy to be certain we were adequately covered. We called to complain and the person we spoke to indicated the fee was their standard policy. We asked for the call to be escalated to management and are still awaiting a response a week later. Whatever happened to communicating with clients to inquire in advance of issuing renewal documents if there were any changes, whether additions or deletions? Horrible customer service. Who can help us mitigate this situation?Intact Insurance

Claims Concerns:
The customer had made a complaint regarding workmanship issues on the roof. Our claims management team reached out to the customer and acknowledged that the customer had some concerns regarding the repairs completed to their home. As the customer used one of our **** vendors to complete the repairs, they have a lifetime guarantee on any workmanship related issues from those repairs. Claims management is willing to facilitate the issues with the vendor directly, so we can ensure that they are contacted, and they follow up. A copy of the invoice related to the recalibrating of the satellite system has been requested. Once received, claims will reimburse the customer right away. Claims management has advised that the issue has been discussed and a solution has been provided.
UW Concerns:
- The client contacted their broker after having been switched to ********** after her previous broker’s business relationship with Intact concluded
- The client initially requested a policy change from $1 million to $2 million liability and was quoted $55.00 as the policy change increase
- The client interpreted her documentation as $55.00 being a service fee charge for processing a change, and not the policy change increase as a result for increasing her coverage
- We contacted the client and clarified the former rather than the latter, to which she understood
- The client also requested we switch her brokers; we advised we were unable and pointed her to the list of Intact-brokers available and why we are unable to switch her policy directly to another broker without client intervention
- Client understood and closed her complaintReview fromCraig W

Just switched to Intact a couple months ago. I got into an accident Jan 9th, 24 and they advised it is probably a write off. All the paper work told me to have my plates and belongings removed from the vehicle by Jan 11, 24 and it would be retrieved from the tow yard as it wasn’t driveable, Jam 12, 24. Anything after that, i would be responsible for fees. Its Feb 2nd, 24 and the car is still in the yard. Almost impossible to reach or hear back from my adjuster. Everyday I call, im told the car is being picked up that day. Ive contacted the tow yard and they’re telling me something different but that the car is ready. Ive been told a supervisor is to call me but havent heard anything on 24 hours. Very frustrating to say the least and ********* given theyve said i may be responsible for storage fees. I will say that when they took my claim and even the reps ive spoken to over the last month have been pleasant and i know its out of their control. I have no idea what to do as its been almost a monthIntact Insurance

We were able to contact the client on Feb 5 to discuss his concerns. We followed up with the preferred vendor and were advised the vehicle would be picked up the same day. We attempted to expedite the appraisal process and confirmed that the vehicle was a total loss on Feb 7. We presented the offer on Feb 8 and a cheque was issued co-payable to the insured and TD Auto Finance. Furthermore, we followed up today to check if there were and outstanding issued and were advised by the client that everything was good. Additionally, we approved an extension of the rental coverage until Feb 20.Review fromAugustine K
