Constant outages, **** poor latency (often rendering the network useless), and a high price point coupled with s***** customer service and poor ********************** with their customers puts GCI at 1 star. In fact I wish I couldnt even credit them with 1 star. Worst and only internet service in my area for the small price of 150+ a month. Debating leaving the state just for better service, this is unacceptable and needs to be addressed and flat out replaced by a better service. GCI if youre reading, pull your s*** together.

The cellular data in ********, ****** is always disconnecting and reconnecting almost every hour, sometimes a few times an hour. This causes a lot of frustrations.

Even in ********* where GCI headquarters is located, they have consistent ******** services outages at random times of the day. Their service has so much downtime it's almost impossible to determine if you can continue normal work or gaming everyday. You just pray that today there is no outage! If my apartment had ****** Communications or other ISPs I would sign up instantly over this c*** GCI claims as "******** Reliable and Fastest ********" what a joke.

I had a landline with GCI. The voicemail only worked once in about 8 years, but I dealt with that. Then my phone quit working. **************** Reps in another country answer the calls. Some of them I couldn't understand. It sounded like they would read out of a manual, telling me all kinds of things that did not pertain to me, like how much it cost to make a payment over the phone. This would go on and on as I told them I didn't care about all that. I just wanted my phone to work. Because of the extreme stress of trying to deal with someone I didn't understand, I decided to switch to ******* switched to ACS, they came out and fixed the phone. ACS told me on two different phone calls that they would cancel my service with GCI. I kept getting emails from GCI, telling me they were going to be charging for my next month. I would respond, saying I didn't have service with them anymore. Almost 2 months after switching to ****** called GCI to make sure my service was cancelled. They said it wasn't, but they would make it official as of the day I called. I just wanted to be rid of them. A few days later my phone quit working again. I called ACS. They said GCI put in an order to be my service provider but they hadn't completed the process. I called GCI. They said they would not have done that, but obviously they did. In order to keep the same phone number (which is on everything I have to have a phone number connected to), I would have to complete the order to sign up with GCI and pay for a month. GCI does not prorate. So, right now, my phone does not work and GCI is holding my phone number hostage until I have signed up with them, which I did, because I need that phone number. And I specifically, officially cancelled with them several days before. They had also been cancelled 2 months before. What will keep them from taking my service back again when I switch back to GCI?! Is it legal to hold a phone number hostage?

After many many years as a customer, I get screwed on the last month by GCI.. I called to change phone plans. I pay$168+ a month. They stated I was stuck with this this plan & there was no other plan for me. I closed my account, but since I was a few days past the billing period, they charge me another $168+ to close my account. Their reasons, you can used the service until the next billing period. What a sham! This shouldnt be legal ripping people off.Now Im with ******** for only $80 a month with better service. Make sure you know you billing period/date and close your account prior to that date.Dont think this company will last. I hope thats true.

You pay premium price of just under $185 a month (was $179.99 until a few months ago without notification of the increase) for an advertised 2.5gig RED yet every speed test at any time night or day is average 900mbps up and 70mbps down. Tech support says that's "better than most" and they don't consider "slow" unless your under 650mbps. WTF is that!?! This is false advertisement to say the least. **************** just passes you off to tech support who just don't seem to care.

We cancelled our service with *** back in May of this year. I was told when I was in the *** office in *********, ** that I could return my router and they would cancel my service and that nothing further was needed on my end. Fast forward to May 22nd, 2023, and they take the full amount required for internet services. I contacted customer service, and they stated that since I didn't call and request a shut off, I technically was still receiving services. I advised that I wasn't instructed to do that. The customer service agent at the time then said fine he will get approval for a refund and then I should hear back whether or not I'll get my money back for a service I wasn't using. I was later notified that day my refund was approved, and I should receive it within **** business days. June 1st comes, still no refund. I call *** customer service AGAIN, still same run around, the refund IS approved I should receive the refund in **** business days. Today June 9th, still haven't received it to my card that it came off of and now the refund is in my *** account *WHICH IS CLOSED* -per the *** customer representative. How does this make any sense? *** doesn't care about customer service and haven't resolved this issue still. If a customer returns their equipment in working shape and is told one thing by one employee and then other things by another employee, you have issues. Beyond frustrated with this company. 0/5 Stars!!!

I'm currently paying for internet speeds of "up to 500mbps" I'm receiving about 90mbps. I've made 10 attempts to get GCI to resolve this issue with 0 progress. Phone calls and in store visits. I am paying for a service that I'm not getting.

Inconsistent tech support. You call and get people who do not want to help. Call back in 10 mins and get someone who will actually refresh your modem. If you need anything beyond the script you are out of luck. Tech support does not automatically prorate your bill when you have an outage. If you have intermittent internet service they will not discount. If the customer only has access to the internet 70% of the time but billed 100%. I called to report issues. They blamed my home coax cable and then 3 hours later called back and said yeah our bad there is an outage. The service is terrible and unpredictable. The equipment they provide is as cheap as possible and all they do is refresh it and issue it to the next person. Ive replaced the modem/tech support 7 times in the last 3 years. Every time a tech shows up the co-ax cable seems to be fine. At 7pm the network starts experiencing packet loss but the next morning no issues. There arent many other options here but consider starlink or someone else.

There customer is very rude and unhelpful. They continue to raise the price for service , meanwhile the quality deteriorates. They just hang up on service calls when they feel like it (I just got hung up on as I was typing this). I really wish someone else provided quality Wi-Fi in ******. GCI seems to have a monopoly out here.
