I have placed many orders with them and most get cancelled. Most recently, I placed an order for TWO orders and only received one. Then I had to follow up with customer service only for the rest of my order to be cancelled. I should not get order confirmation only for a week later my order be cancelled. Terrible service

am writing to file a formal complaint against m Books a million due to their unethical and potentially illegal business practices regarding bait-and-switch tactics and unauthorized holds on customer credit cards. On March 13th, I made a purchase from ***, believing I was buying an item that was in stock and available for immediate shipment, as advertised on their website. However, after my purchase was processed, I was informed that the product was not actually in stock and that the company had no intention of fulfilling the order. Despite this, they placed a hold on my credit card for the full amount of the transaction, tying up my funds and delaying my ability to make other purchases. This tactic appears to be a classic example of bait-and-switch, where a company advertises products they do not have in stock in order to lure in customers, with no intention of delivering the advertised product. Additionally, placing holds on credit cards without fulfilling the order violates consumer protection laws under the ************************ (***). According to the ***, businesses are prohibited from charging a consumer for a product unless they have a reasonable expectation of fulfilling the order, and they must notify the customer if a delay or cancellation occurs within a specific timeframe.Furthermore, the FTC's Cooling-Off Rule gives consumers the right to cancel certain transactions within three business days of purchase, which this company seems to disregard, further compounding their deceptive behavior.I kindly request that the Better Business Bureau investigate this matter and take appropriate action to protect consumers from these practices. As a consumer, I feel that my rights have been violated, and I am concerned that others may be subjected to similar tactics by this company.

I'd give a zero stars if I could. I ordered a couple Funko figures in late november, hoping they'd arrive by Christmas. They're still "gathering the materials" midway through January. Meanwhile, I ordered directly from Funko and got the figures 3 days later. I still can't cancel my order. There's no option to speak with a person, and they tend to ignore customer service emails. So, in short, they offer goods they don't have. They make no real effort to obtain the goods from the third party vendor, they keep you hanging entirely too long and after a point where you could have ordered and received the items yourself from literally any other vendor many times over, and they won't let you cancel the order that they aren't even making any effort to fulfill.

Now I have to Reorder Elsewhere a week before christmas. ********.

The customer said to "CANCEL my order. As I stated, I had to Reorder this item. The item was charged to my bank account and then Removed Days Later to which I assumed it was Indeed Cancelled as The Charge was removed. Do not recharge this or Ship this as I have had to Reorder Elsewhere"

When the customer saw a charge drop off, he assumed we had canceled but that was a pre-authorization charge that will always drop off within 72 hours.  We only charge when the item ships.  We understand the customer has reordered somewhere else but his order with BAM is pending and unable to be canceled because it is shipping from a third-party location.  However, we will gladly refund the customer's account once the item is returned to us.  We will send the customer a pre-paid label once we are contacted. We have noted his account.

I recently purchased 2 autographed copies of Get Honest or Die Lying by Charlamagne tha God and charged on my credit card.Shortly thereafter I received a phone call from the ******************* to verify my recent purchases and specifically mentioned my purchase with this company regarding possible fraud.

We show the purchase was accurate and no fraudulent purchases were made.  There are times if a customer does not normally order from a company that a credit card company will call to verify the purchase was made.  However, this has nothing to do with Books-A-Million.

The company sent me a false email stating a code to be used for my order which at the time I had just left in the cart and did not complete it however when I tried to put the code there is no way to put it and I contacted customer service and they said that the code they sent me was not good for the purchase. It is the first order that I made with this company and it will be the last unfortunately misleading offer sent to my email.

I apologize for any difficulties you had with your order.  The email was not false, and the discount can be used with items that are eligible.  If you go to the site, you will see that it says, "item may not be eligible for special discounts or coupons".

Made numerous orders. All were cancelled along with many other people. Just a corporate tactic to get people to sign up for their membership. Will never order from them again.

      Books-A-Million, Inc.

      Date: 05/28/2024

We apologize for not fulfilling your order as you expected.  There was a notice on the site that there was a limit of 10 per customer. Orders over this limit were canceled. We are looking to our supplier for inventory replenishment and if that happens, we will limit this as well so we can fulfill as many customer orders as we can.

I will contact the customer to get resolved via email today.  However, it should be noted that this is not a scam.  The Magazines for Millionaires Program allows anyone using a credit or debit card to choose up to 3 of their favorite magazine selections to sample risk-free for two months. At checkout, you select up to three magazines and agree to the terms of the offer.

Approximately 2-3 weeks after the magazine order is processed, you are sent a postcard in the mail citing the magazine(s) chosen, the rate, date, and amount your credit or debit card will be charged, along with the Magazine for Millionaires toll-free customer service number.
