I would rate my experience a zero. It started with the coupon to get yearly maintenance for $30. All of the sudden my springs were bad and the spring board needed to be replaced. They wanted to charge almost $300 to install a 2x4. They charged me $500 for the springs. When the "technician" remounted.the rail to the new spring board he didn't adjust the band correctly. He told me any noises were the springs adjusting so I didn't call when I heard the creaking. Within 4 weeks my door fell off the rails and it cost me over $900 to fix what they broke. That included $550 to put the door back on the rails. Took under an hour!!! I was taken for a total of $1,500 when all I needed was the yearly maintenance. My door has been working fine for the 14 years I lived here until I fell for their gimmick. They didn't offer to compensate me for anything. Please do not use them and don't let this happen to you. I will also be filing a report with the Better Business Bureau.

Hello *******, We sincerely apologize for the experience you described and any misunderstanding regarding the warranty. We strive to provide clear communication about coverage and regret any confusion that may have occurred. The units we install are covered under the manufacturer's warranty. In some cases, a service charge may apply for a technician visit, depending on whether the issue is related to the product or workmanship. If the issue had been due to poor workmanship, we would have gladly covered the charges. We would have preferred the opportunity to send a technician back out to diagnose and address the problem. Were sorry to hear that you had to resolve the issue separately and that we did not meet your expectations. We are committed to improving and hope to have the opportunity to regain your trust in the future.Regards,****** ******* Client Experience Manager

Scammers!Requested service for a broken spring. Service tech arrived hours earlier than scheduled, I was not home, just my wife. He inspected the door and springs and quote us $1000 to replace two springs. (average price in our area is less than $500).I spoke with the tech via phone and expressed my deep concern at the extremely high price., and asked him what the hourly bill rate was, he said $165 per hour. I was shocked that they would charge about $420 per spring,; $835 for the pair!!!! As stated above, the average price in our area for parts and labor is less than $500.I told my wife to just pay him for his time and we will find someone else. He charged us $170.63. We never received a receipt, even after requesting one vis text from their service tech.He never attempted to offer us the $29.95 fee advertised on their web site.Worse yet after I hung up with him, he told my wife that the cables were frayed and needed to be replaced for an additional $300. There is no fraying on the cables. When I got home we called The Garage Door Store, in ********, they came out immediately and, all-in we paid $450. He inspected the cables and verified that they are in perfect condition. In Summary, they are expensive, over charge for unneeded parts and services, take advantage of women or people with no mechanical knowledge and do not honor their advertised price.

A1 Garage door did refund to us $73.52. However we ended up paying over $100 for a guy to come out and attempt to get over $1000 for ***lacing 2 springs. ( avg cost in our area is less than $500)Their web site offers a $29.95 "tune up fee. We were told that they could not give us that price because the service *** "opened the door" This is something that we could have easily done ourselves.....that's over $100 just to pull the red handle! Worse yet, when we finally received the actual invoice, it stated 3 items of work that they preformed: synchronizing our remotes, align and calibrate sensors, and minor adjustments to optimize door functions. NONE OF THESE ITEMS WERE DONE!!!!

Had a segmented single garage door bottom retainer and bottom rubber seal installed in mid-June 2024 for a bit over $250 total. Five months later (late November) it fell off of the door. Called with issue, and they want to CHARGE me a service call fee PLUS labor and materials to repair it. Elevated it to the next manager level and they still want to charge me, a "minimum" labor fee, to repair their shoddy workmanship. I asked to speak with the owner, and was told I may get a callback in 2-3 days. I don't believe I should shell out more money to fix an issue that resulted from bad workmanship and poor repair. I'm a senior citizen and feel like I'm being scammed for additional money from a company who won't even stand behind their "professional" service and make things right. At this point all I want is my money back. I'll use a different service in the future.

We have used A1 Garage Door Service in the past but after this last experience we will no longer use them. The technician misdiagnosed our problem and sold us new garage door openers for over $300.00 and now will not take them back or refund our money. They finally figured out what was wrong and gave us a quote for $400 higher than another reputable company.

They put the HARD SELL on me for a new garage door after initially requesting a on site service appt. After about 3 minutes they told me my existing door was beyond repair. The door was 18 years old so this was not a complete surprise. A1 had fixed my door about one and a half year prior and I was satisfied with the service which is why I called them and set up an appt. for Aug. 31.I was leaving the country for one month starting Sep. 1. For almost three hours of sales pitch and credit check at my home while I kept saying I'm leaving tomorrow AM for a month and I'll take care of this later. Their pitch was the order would be placed that day and it would be ready when I got back. I thought I should call ****** as they had the same product. Well, they said they were competitive (NOT), and I waited forever for pics of new door uploaded. They ran a credit check which I didn't want to do and dropped my FICO while I qualified for a $44K new door. I had planned to pay for it in full as soon as it was installed. Their door was $10,236.30 and exact door at ****** was $4018.47 Plus a $711 ****** Card Credit. A1 did not order w/insulated glass and I live at 7000' with snow and many freezing days. I feel this was Elder Abuse with the Hard Sell tactics...Sales pitch lasted 3 hours ands door was not ordered until the following orders the next Friday....It was not ordered on Aug. 31. It was not ready when I returned. Basically, double in cost.Meanwhile, them billed my AMEX for $450++ for their time to sales pitch me and is now in dispute. They have not returned calls and I will refuse delivery.

I used A1 because they were highly rated through friends. I did not find the business through ****. With that being said, I hired them for a garage door tune-up. The agreed upon price was $79. I have had previous tune-*** before, so I knew what to expect. I stayed with the technician, good thing I did, and watched as he serviced the garage door. I don't know if he thought he'd get over on an older lady, but somehow that $79 tune-up turned into a $1200 unnecessary repair. I paid the agreed upon $79 and sent him on his way. I purposedly had another reliable company already scheduled to do a tune-up after them. I never said A1 was out, but I asked all the questions A1 told me were "necessary repairs" and the reliable company didn't bat an eye to tell me why they weren't necessary. In fact, the reliable company explained what A1 said had no merit. A1 is untrustworthy!

Hello *****, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. After investigating the service, we noticed that we performed a $29 tune-up, which included a 29-point inspection of your garage door system. During the inspection, the technician identified that the weight of your door exceeded the recommended limit and suggested replacing the torsion springs and cables to prevent further wear and tear on the opener. These recommendations were made with your door's longevity and safety in mind.We understand that you decided to seek a second estimate, which provided a different opinion. Our goal is always to advise what we believe is best for the functionality and safety of your garage door. Heavy springs can indeed impact the lifespan of your opener, which is why the technician suggested preventative measures. We are truly sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate your feedback. This helps us improve and ensure better experiences for our customers in the future. With gratitude,****** ******* Client Experience Manager

We just had a frustrating experience with their company. They sold us on a $29.95 service call which seemed to be nothing more than a disguised way to upsell us $1500+ estimate. When we called their management team three times to discuss this issue, they ghosted us and never returned our call.

Hello ****,We sincerely apologize for the frustrations you experienced, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. It seems there was a miscommunication, and we understand how this added to your frustration. Our manager did indeed try to reach you, but it went to voicemail. We are glad to hear that you have since spoken and agreed on a resolution, including a refund of the $29 tune-up fee.Just to clarify, during our $29 tune-up, we perform a 29-point inspection to ensure the overall health of your garage door system. In your case, our technician identified that your torsion springs were heavy and recommended considering a replacement in the near future. He also offered our ******** torsion spring package as an option. We apologize if this wasnt clearly explained at the time, and we understand that you chose to decline the replacement. We are pleased that we were able to work together and find a solution you felt was fair, including providing you with a full refund for the tune-up. If you have any further concerns or questions, please dont hesitate to reach out. With gratitude,Client Experience Manager

Deceptive sales tactics, without transparent pricing. TLDR version: Was told it would cost high $700s for spring replacement, but by the time I handed over my credit card the price had somehow spiked to well over $1600. **** claims I agreed to additional parts we did not discuss... parts that were inflated anywhere between 3x & over 10x their resale price. Total ripoff. Customer ********************** claims they charge so much because they 'are the best." yeah, the best at swindling their customers, or should I say, victims. For the amount I spent on new springs, some bearings and misc metal parts I should have bought a completely new garage door.
