We signed up for solar with this company on the condition that when we lose power my mother's medical equipment would still function when the electricity goes out. *** the salesperson assured us that it would not be a problem, oh but it has been. No storage was included, was not added to the contract for Good Leap, receive not only the bill from the financing company but from the electric company as well. Which defeats the purpose of having solar to begin with.Have contacted them since July 2022 when the system went active to get the situations fixed, can not talk to a supervisor, does not call you back as promised, the salespersons do not return calls.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out to us, ****.
We would like to apologize for any inconvenience caused to you or your family. Upon reviewing your contract there was no battery quoted at time of sale on 4/19/22. Computer aided design was approved on 5/19/22. **** reached out to us inquiring about the battery on 9/14/22; with concerns "her mom is on medical equipment so just in case there is a power outage the equipment could still have electricity from the battery". We can arrange for someone to get the battery information and then get a quote for the installation of the battery if you would like to proceed. We recently performed a monthly bill audit to ensure your system was producing properly and the audit ensured that your system produced more than it is estimated to produce in its full solar month. You have spoken to several of our Managers and Supervisor since before July, We do apologize if your Sales representative has not reached out to you *** is not a direct employee with ***. Please let us know if there I anything we can do you better your experience with ****

Ok first I have not one time spoken with a manager or supervisor. Secondly, why would you offer provide me with another salespersons name and phone (which by the way was the number for ***), with no response, right there told me something was wrong. I was told several times we would get a call back from someone with the company, that has not happened. And still hasn't!!
As for the medical equipment that ********************* uses, has no battery backup, hence why we wanted to install, not to rely on the electrical grid!!!!!!!

Hi ****! We want to apologies for the misunderstanding. Our records show you have spoken to several of our upper Management team, we dont usually announce our that. I did look into the contact info of the sales person given to you and it was a different sales person from the same Dealer but the contact info has Bens number as the contact number. *** last contact with you was September 18th and we are reaching out to the owner of ************* to inform them of the situation and ensure you get the quote for the battery needed to rely on the current electrical grid. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you to better your experience with Our World Energy.Customer Answer

I never spoke with a supervisor or manager, never received a call back concerning my issues. The you give the same number as ***'s with a different name and expect the result to be different. I have yet to be contacted by the company you listed above nor have you conveyed that intention in the phone call on 09/18/2022.
So again, come remove the panels from my home if you can not be honest about the conversations I have had with the employees at OWE!!! I also wonder if I was ever placed on the contract (*********************)??

Signed contract in November, its now September and our solar system is still not on line. Apparently they dont know what they are doing because the city inspector failed the installation five times!! They destroyed the stucco on the side of my house. I can not get in contact with any upper management to complain. Neighbor did a local company and it was hooked up in less than a month and looks really professional, mine looks like a high school shop project. This has been the worst experience ever! Wish i would have selected another business. Right now I want the whole thing off my house.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out to us, *******. First off, we want to apologize for any delays we have created & just know we have been working diligently on getting your system up & running. Your system was granted permission to operate (PTO) in July and activated in August. Unfortunately there was a (defective micro) manufacturer defect with one of the microinverters and we are working on resolving issue. We have also hired a local Stucco repair company to do the stucco repairs with color match completed on 9/22. Once more our sincere apologies for any delays in your project and for any inconvenience caused as our system typically take 3 to 4 months for completion. In March of 2022 my husband and I agreed to do business with Our World Energy when they promised to set up a solar array for us and help us hook into the power grid with our electric company. It is now 6 months later and we are still waiting to be connected to the grid. Failures on the part of Our World Energy include: Failure to respond to a request for a battery installation along with the solar panels at the beginning of the process; construction company failed to trench the cable to the proper depth and did not return for over a month to fix their error, finance company involved raised the final cost of the project from $29,000 to $32,000 to cover the mistake made by their contractor and lied to us when asking us to sign new paperwork; promises to contact us on a regular basis to keep us apprised of what was happening were rarely kept among other things, we are now waiting for a meter to be installed so we can be hooked into the grid but cannot get any answers or response from company regarding its installation. To be honest this has been an extremely frustrating experience for us, we feel as though the companies involved are only interested in the money and could care less about our project. We have been lied to, ignored and now cheated out of money we did not originally agree to pay because the contractor made a serious mistake through no fault of ours but we ended up paying for it anyway. I would be happy to provide you with the documentation if needed. Based on our experience with the company I would advise anyone thinking of installing solar panels to run away from companies like this and seek other alternatives to solar or wind power additions to their property. This process should not *********** months due to mistakes made by the company and their employees. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon.Soso **********************************Business Response

First off, we want to apologize for any delays we have created & just know we have been working diligently on getting your system up & running. Your sale date was on 3/8, Site Survey was completed on 3/10, then PV permits submitted in March approved in April, along with CAD and Inter connections approval in April. Finance Notice to proceed approved 5/27, & Installed also in May but not completed due to trench depth; but we returned the following week to complete. In July the Tie in (to system) was completed, which is where the extra work and equipment was required to break concrete . This resulted in price increase & was approved by you with your sales rep via text. Final inspection was completed on 8/9, Permission to Operate approved 9/1 and Meter set and system activated on 9/20. Once more our sincere apologies for any delays in your project and for any inconvenience caused as our system typically take 3 to 4 months for completion. The business has finally gotten our solar system online and installed a meter as requested. However, we have been waiting for information regarding our contract dispute with the business. A member of their team, *****, has promised to contact us regarding the dispute but despite calls from us to her or from her to us there has been no connection so far. We did ask that the company send us a written report as to what was going on with the loan dispute but to date we have not received that either. We have also not received any information about the battery we had asked about installing when we first started the process. of "going solar".Business Response

Thank you for reaching out to us, Soso.
I am pleased to hear your solar system is now activated. We did a little more research regarding the contract you are disputing. The reasoning for the price increase was due to the trenching being added post Site Survey. Your sale date was on 3/8, we completed Site Survey on 3/10 the trenching was determined on 3/15. We recently reached out to you and you arranged a phone meeting for tomorrow at 10am. We can arrange for someone to get the battery information and then get a quote of the installation of the battery if you would like to proceed. Our sincere apologies for any delays in your project. Please let us know if there I anything else we can do you better your experience with ***.Customer Answer

OWE has been inconsistent regarding their answers to our complaints.
1. Trenching issues: We have been charged twice for trenching due to a mistake by OWE employees on initial work. Employee only trenched to 12" inches which was not to spec as required by electric company which was 18" inches. Rather than complete the trenching work to electric company specifications immediately after the mistake was discovered, OWE applied for a permit to allow the system to be run "as built". This caused a long delay as we went through inspection and had to wait for employee to return to correct his mistake. OWE claims they trenched 120 sq. cubic feet to complete the project. In fact the original trench dug at 12" was only 60 sq. cubic feet and then we were charged again to dig the 18" corrected trench. Trenching twice over the same ground which accounts for their measurements. This trench would have only been ******************************************************************** the first place. Photos of the trench project have been provided to OWE showing completed trench area and proximity to solar array and electric pole.
2. We still have no evidence that any work was done regarding concrete removal, but were promised photos which never came.
3. We requested that a manager be sent to the site to go over project with homeowners but nothing has been done in that matter.
4. We have received some information about the battery but no serious discussion has so far taken place.

On Aug 26, 2021 a contract was signed between myself and Our World Energy. *** has not held up their side of the contract and as of today Sep 13, 2022 I am still waiting for them to complete project. I purchased a battery to provide electric service 24/7. This was to provide protection for my mothers oxygen supply in case of power outages. Due to the inability to complete this project, we have suffered through three power outages this summer. One of those times I was not here to switch over to her emergency tanks. This resulted in her being without oxygen for two hours and she was ill for two and half weeks because of this. *** has repeatedly claimed the delay was a result of ***. *** has told me a phone call from the company could have eliminated months of the delay.May 23, 2022 the company sent a crew to install the battery and ev panels. The crew was short a wire to complete the job.May 30 a tech came to install the missing wire. The only communication from them was two text messages saying they were working on the final scheduling.August 2 the final was scheduled. The *** inspector was sent to another OWE client in the area and did not come back to here. The county inspector was not informed so he showed up. He Red Tagged the install.September 3 *********** sent a tech to complete the job. He did not address the Red Tag repairs. The *** inspector gave his approval of the install. The county inspector came and Red tagged the install again. And added a fine to the company for not complying with the original Red Tag.Business Response

We purchased this home with solar panels on top. We were assured prior to closing on the house the solar panels were working. When we moved in, we discovered they were not working. There is a lower switch arm with three wires in it that are not connected to anything. Our World Energy keeps telling us that TEP needs to remove the ** Meter so they can patch into the meter socket. TEP came out and opened everything up for us to see, explained step-by-step what each box does and that everything they can do is complete. At first *** said that the "lock" needed removed from the meter. Removing that tag on the outside of the meter is a federal offense. The tech they sent out, the second time saw the tag and immediately left, without looking at anything else on the system. I have been calling them every week, now every day, for over seven weeks now. We have sent emails with pictures and details. They keep saying they will contact their scheduling department and then send us an email with a date and time. The last three times we have called, that is where we ended. Still no information for when a tech is coming. The fact that they can't schedule while we are on the phone together is very sketchy. I asked for her supervisor and she says there is no one I can speak to. I asked for a corporate number, and was told this is the only number. It feels like a low-end sketchy fly-by-night company. At this point we are seeking litigation for money lost to our electric bill OR them removing the solar panels and cancelling the loan. This company is unprofessional and irresponsible. We have been trying to get this resolved for seven weeks.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out to us, *****.
Your solar system was granted PTO on 4/21/22 under the pervious owners (**********). OWE was in the process of completing the Electrical Tie in and was unable to complete Tie in because *** install its own meter with the lock and tag. OWE attempt numerous times to the *** designate line to request meter Pull/Power kill, but unfortunately *** was unresponsive. You reach out to us informing *** had gone out to remove meter lock so *** could complete Tie in. It is illegal for us to remove *** meter to complete Tie in. The current Meter located at the home needs to be pulled by *** in order to complete the electrical Tie in. We have reached out to you recently informing you that we are still in the process of confirming the date for meter to be pulled. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this process. We look forward to getting your solar system activated. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you to better your experience with ****

On Sept 6th they were to install the solar system. They did not finish the job and no one I speak to has a completion date. They say they have to know the job is not completed. I told them why would I be calling id the job was completed. They came with the incorrect drawings, incorrect paint, and incorrect information about us needing a sub panel.Business Response

We did have your install scheduled for September 6th and unfortunately were not able to finish installation that day due to a sub panel connection to avoid Main Panel Upgrade, We reached out the same day to advise we needed to return to finish install at time ******* did not approve sub panel connection. We have completed install as of 9/12/22, Final Inspection on 9/13/22 and final step is to submit to utility for permission to operate. Sales Representative assured me it was in the notes that the solar panels I was going to purchase would be on the back of my home with my other solar panels. The company representative came out to inspect my roof he was not told this. He was trying to put them on the front of my house on the garage. I explained to him that I stressed to the sales representative that that was a deal breaker. Weeks went by after several attempts I made contact and asked if it was possible to just put some on back of my home. We were willing to try to find a way to move forward. No contact for weeks made contact was told my project was still on hold. This is after running my credit and almost 3 months after the loan was funded. This loan was no payments and no interest for a year. 3 months shot and no work has been done. This is unacceptable for any company. I have requested that this loan be terminated. This sales representative did not care about customer satisfaction he just wanted to close a loan. As a customer I should not be calling a company for updates.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out to us, ********. You signed up with us on 6/1/22. ** 6/7, our site surveyor went out to complete a full 360 analysis of your home to determine if your roof would qualify for an additional 8 panels. Unfortunately, our engineering team advised that there was no space on the south-facing side of the roof. ** 6/9, we reached out to your sales rep to inform him of the results. ** 6/13, we were advised by your rep that he was going to have a meeting with you to discuss other options- account placed on hold. No update was given to us after that. ** 6/23, we received an update from you advising that you wanted to place 3-4 panels on the south-facing roof, instead. ** reached out to your rep to advise- no update. ** 7/1, we received a call from you asking about the status of your project. ** advised that we were waiting for an update from your sales rep. ** 7/12, we determined that all panels were going to have to be placed on the north-facing side of the house. ** reached out to your sales rep that same day- rep was unresponsive. ** 7/22, you reached out again asking for an update. However, no update was provided since we did not hear back from your sales rep -account placed into jeopardy. ** reached out to your sales rep to advise of the cancellation notice. Your rep advised that you were going to have one last talk with your wife to determine if you wanted to proceed or not. ** did not hear back from your rep until we reached out on 7/28; were advised that he was going to call you to discuss the options. ** did not hear anything back until you reached out to us on 8/26 to advise that you were canceling the project. ** reached out to your sales rep that day and confirmed cancellation on 8/27. The loan was also canceled on 8/27. As standard operating procedures, any installation cancellations with OWE must have a written/verbal (cancellation) confirmation from the sale rep. ** do apologize for the delays, but this is a confirmed cancellation.Initial Complaint

During consultation for solar install, additional options were presented for home efficiency upgrades that could be included in the overall project and corresponding loan. One of these options was to have a new energy efficient sliding glass door installed. The installer (***************) was contacted and a quote of $2422 was provided. This amount was added to my overall loan amount. Our World Energy was paid in full for cost of solar project, a new AC unit, and sliding glass door. The Solar Project and AC unit has been installed and complete. Our World Energy has not paid *************** for installation of the new sliding glass door. Our World Energy has also not refunded the funds received from my loan proceeds.I have attached a copy of the updated contract which shows inclusion of Arcadia door (sliding glass door).I am seeking that they finish the contracted job to actually pay ***************.I have made multiple requests with my sales person Mamdemba Faal to get this resolved with no effect.Business Response

The nature of my complaint is non-consumer related. On July 19th, 2022 an Our World Energy driver was hauling solar panels to another property. He used my drive way as a public street to make a U-turn. As he trespassed my property, he drove erratically through and knocked down several of the pavers on the driveway and caused severe damage. When the company was contacted to fix the problem, the company was unwilling to pay for the damage. The company has not provided any kind of resolution to the matter, has become condescending, disrespectful and unwilling to cooperate with owner of property to fix problem. Now, the problem has become more severe because mud is spilling over to the driveway with danger of coming into my home.Business Response

Good morning, *******. We do apologize for the miscommunication between OWE, Perrydise Landscaping & GrassXhopper which have created delays in getting this incident resolved. On 7/26 we found a landscaping company, GrassXhopper, to go review the full scope of work. However, you denied the visit & the company didn't go out; you advised that you had your own company in mind. We respected the requested & waited for the invoices, which were received on 7/21. We reached out to Perrydise Landscape on 8/1 review SOW they advised the quotes included repairs of the entire driveway rather than the damage our truck made, we cleared up the confusion with them & emphasized that OWE was only paying for OWE's damage, not a whole new project. We asked for a new quote from Perrydise & did not hear back from them until 08/11 because unfortunately it seemed the company had blocked us. You reached out to us on 8/16 to advise that mud was in the driveway because the pavers were not there to block it. We agreed over the phone that we were no longer going to use Perrydise, but instead GrassXhopper, the first company OWE sourced. We called GrassXhopper but sadly they refused to work with us because they could not take projects as escalated as this one. On 8/16 we had a phone call between OWE, Perryside Landscaping & yourself where we promised an approval of the quote by 8/19 the latest which had to be reviewed by the director of OWE. Our communication continued via email on 8/18 with an approval of the quote that has been provided to us in which you responded with a new quote that we approved as soon as our office opened the next day 8/19. As of right now we are just pending scheduling from Perrydise & will also be sending our crew to clean the mud. We are glad we could get this issue resolved & again apologize for the inconveniences & frustration this has created. It was never our intention to disrespect or ignore you & please reach us if there are any other concerns we can address.Customer Answer

Better Business Bureau:At one point, OWE was going to send Grasshopper Landscaping to "fix" only the pavers that had been broken without taking me into consideration, informing me or asking for permission to have ******************* come into my property. Grasshopper Landscaping is from ************ not from Rio ***** which the OWE **************** representative said they were. I needed to contract with a local (********) landscaping company, which is Perrydise Landscaping. The damage was so extensive and severe that the ones that the pavers that were broken couldn't be just fixed. I did NOT want all the front yard landscaped, as an OWE Customer Representative said ***************************** had said. That would cost in the $10,000's to get done. That was NOT what I wanted. I want my pavers replaced and I want them done professionally as I had originally paid for.
Bottom line, it took a very long time, many phone calls, emails, texting, police report, several warnings for OWE to pay attention, truly agree to pay . As of now, I have not received the funds to get the project done. Unfortunately, more mud is getting into my driveway due to the strong storms. I am recuperating from COVID and had to spend days making phone calls, writing emails, stressing and worrying about this. Today is Saturday August 20, 2022 and the damage has not been fixed.
I just hope that OWE stands by their word and send the funds as quickly as possible to get this resolved. If not the cost will be much more.
I will wait for the business to perform this action. If it does and the pavers are completely and professionally fixed, mud cleared out of my driveway with $0 cost to me, I will consider this complaint resolved.
Regards,

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.
BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.
As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
