Truly disturbing business practice. Received a mailer with no return address or any identification of the sender.Only a one page insert that also does not identify the sender. Just my lending institution is listed at the top in bold lettering and again in the text in all uppercase lettering. "This notice is to inform you that the property's home warranty, at (my address), secured by (my lending institution), may be expiring or may have already expired." Since we did not opt for a home warranty, how is this a true or accurate statement?Printing at the bottom of the insert in the smallest lettering of the entire notice that "Not all consumers have previous coverage.", does not make the 'notice to inform' quoted above as even remotely accurate. There is no way it may have expired or may be expiring. If you choose to respond as you have in other similar reviews that your "home warranties [are] backed by the largest and top-rated insurance providers in the country.", I would appreciate you identifying these providers in your response so that I might provide them a copy this mailing practice that, based on other reviews here, has been going on for over a year. Plenty of time to correct that which has confused so many other recipients.Harbor Home Warranty

I was going to use this warranty Co. But after I fully understood that this Company, would not have any coverage to the 2nd month of paying them. I contacted them an yes they will no start any coverage to that 2nd month. I told them I don't want their service, an to cancel my service. Now the problem is this company isn't sending my money back. I contacted my bank an file a dispute..To get my money back as their wasn't any service..Harbor Home Warranty

1 starDeceptive advertisement! This company - which does not in any way identify itself in the letter or on the envelope - is clearly trying to make recipients believe the bank providing the loan is contacting them. This bank, presumably found in public records, is mentioned several times in large print, and the letter states that a home warranty "may be expiring or may have already expired," warning of "potential lapse of coverage." Only at the bottom, in very small print, does it say that "not all consumers have previous coverage," and "we are not affiliated with your current mortgage company." The latter statement gets very close to deceiving thanks to the word "current", since folks may think the letter is from another mortgage company, particularly since so many mortgages are sold on to the secondary market, and since the company sending the letter is nowhere identified. Clearly hoping for people at least to call, and no doubt hoping some elderly person will take the whole thing seriously and sign up for something. May be barely legal, but it is misleading and despicable.Review fromCarol M

They need ZERO stars and should be shut down. I called this company and told them to remove me from their list. I received this letter several days ago. Today, I tried calling the number on the letter and the number is out of service. You could get the company name and then it hung up on you. Yet ******* that answered the phone stated that the phone system was "messed up this morning." Thank you, BBB, for providing a REAL number to call. Unsolicited, unwanted, bad phone number, and NO COMPANY NAME on the letter. Just make them stop, please. F- rating from me.Harbor Home Warranty

We apologize for any distress or frustration this has caused you. We did have our internet rebooted in our office when you called, which was relayed to you when you called again. As typical practice we would not send you more than one notice but as we stated to you on the phone we did remove you from future mailing.Review fromBelle M

Harbor Home Warranty sent a notice to my house saying my home warranty was about to expire. Of course, there was no company name or address on the letter. I only learned their name once I called the number. The big problem was they addressed the letter to my 15 year old daughter !! What a bunch of scammers !!Harbor Home Warranty

Hello sir, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We attempted to pull the file your notice is attached to via the property code so we can look into this, unfortunately you were unwilling to provide that but we will be looking into this matter to ensure it does not happen again.Review fromVirginia R

I am 83 yrs. old and received a letter with ******************* as a letterhead. I called about the notice for a home warranty and Home Harbor Warranty signed me up after obtaining my debit card. They immediately deducted over $190 and signed me up for over $200 a month for 3 yrs. After serious doubts, I investigated and called back immediately requesting cancellation. They hung up on me, charged my account and still have not cancelled. I have been forced to deactivate my debit card and contest the charges through my bank. This is a dishonest scam letter and is senior abuse by Harbor Home Warranty.Harbor Home Warranty

Hi ********, we reviewed your account and you do not have active coverage with us. You signed up for the home protection plan and called to cancel on the same day. We reversed all payments that you had given prior authorization for. If your bank has yet to process the reversed payment feel free to give our office a call and we can provide you with the transaction ID of the reversed payment. **************Review fromRachael D.

Harbor Home Warranty claims it is a trusted home warranty company. If that's true, why don't these letters have the name of the company on them or even a return address??? Seems sneaky to me.When I called to have my address removed from the list, I was told to give them the "property code". I didn't want to, as I didn't want to unknowingly approve something if I did. But before it could get that far, ***** started arguing with me about extending my warranty. I told him I didn't want it and I want my address removed. He told me I had one at one time. I never had a warranty for fixing my air conditioner or hot water heater and I do not want one. At that point I repeatedly told him I wanted my address removed. They couldn't remove it without the "property code". Which can hardly be true. I asked to be looked up by my address. I was hung up on. I called back several times, now extremely angry. I was hung up on without being listened to. If this is the kind of customer service offered by this company, I can't imagine calling to put in a claim. I finally gave the property code number to be removed and I barely had it out of my mouth when it was confirmed they removed me. Computers don't work that fast. I was immediately hung up on when I asked them to confirm the address that came up in their system. When I called back, the number was conveniently no longer in service. I found this site and found a different number. When I called this number, the woman immediately confirmed that I was removed before I gave her any identifying information. When I asked her how she knew that she claimed it was because I called 3 times. (It was more than that but okay). She was able to provide me with my name, but not my address. I was hung up on again. These companies make me so angry because they prey on people who don't know any better. THAT'S why I was so angry.Harbor Home Warranty

Hello *******, we apologize for the inconvenience. It looks like you spent quite a bit of your day angry with a letter that was sent to you with the intention of providing a service to keep your home protected. Since you declined the coverage we offered multiple times to take you off the mailing list by way of first and last name and/or property code - neither of which you were willing to give. After a handful of harassing phone calls and failed attempts to resolve the issue we had to block your phone number to assist with other customers.Rachael D.

This is absolutely NOT true. I asked several times for someone to look up my information by my address. No one would. NO ONE. I finally gave up. And I became angry when the first person I spoke with - ***** - argued with me when I asked to be removed from the mailing list. His first response wasn't to ask me for a property code or address in order to remove me. He immediately started to convince me that I needed this coverage because my warranty expired. I never had a warranty. He refused to believe me and picked a fight with me. THAT'S where my anger started. With your employee. If you were a legit company your employees wouldn't have yelled at and hung up on anyone. At the very least you wouldn't make it so difficult for someone to be removed from your mailing list. Your manager wouldn't even let me speak (leading me to raise my anger and voice further) and kept yelling over me until she hung up on me. And let's be clear- my concern was that if I gave you the property code that would mean I would be agreeing to something and would be charged/billed. Your company is truly concerning. I personally think you're a scam (as do several others here). You claim not to be, but you're at the VERY least misleading. Look at the rest of the reviews on this site. Why are they all 1 star? The name of your company isn't even on the letter, let alone any contact info like your address or website. The only company name on there is my mortgage company. Which is clearly done intentionally to mislead people and scare them into getting coverage for a warranty they don't need. Another reason for my anger.SHAME on you.Rachael D.

Added to clarify, I asked several of the people I spoke to to look me up by my name OR address. No one would do that. And told me they couldn't do anything without the property code. At which time I would be hung up on.Harbor Home Warranty

We are unable to locate you in our system without first and last name or property code. We explained this to you multiple times but even now to no avail. We absolutely did not yell or speak in any way aggressive to you, regardless of your elevated temperament and several harassing phone calls. We apologize for any distress this has caused you.Review fromTim F
