1 starSigned up for a promotion and was offered a free membership if I paid for 2 other memberships. It has now been about 1 year and only received 1 month free. Have attempted to cancel multiple times and I keep getting billed for all 3 accounts. This has been a nightmare.Review fromCaden C

1 starI have 13 Rapid Results 50-minute training sessions, valued at $880+ that ************************ refuses to let me use, transfer the value toward other goods and services, OR refund me for. I have tried all three routes for the last few months with no success. My experience with various members of this branch has been very dissatisfying.I first started training here in February at which time I purchased my first package of 8 sessions. Trainer #1 was very new to PT and honestly not skilled but I was eager to get in a rhythm with my fitness journey so I went with it. Sometime in March/ April, he was a no-show to a training session and shortly after stopped responding to attempts to reschedule. I had to leave messages at the front desk, a voicemail, and at least 2 emails before being told he was no longer employed with the gym and assigned to trainer #2. Trainer #2 was more experienced and available before 9 am most any day of the week which is when I need to be to work. After a few months of training and being sold on one more training package, trainer #2 was put on a leave of absence. He advised this was involuntary due to contracting COVID-19 - understandable but this went on for over a month and his texts conveyed major frustration with the gym and management for delaying his return. He remains on leave. I had to climb mountains AGAIN to be assigned a new trainer, #3. She is great but has VERY limited availability, rarely in the mornings. She stopped replying to texts as well after various scheduling conflicts, conveniently after the training team sold me on a new package. I have not been able to be assigned trainer #4.Finally, on December 19th, I forwarded my communications, and the lack of resolution to the General Manager, Membership Services Manager, Regional Manager, District Sales Manager, ** of Operations and Retention, and the ** and President of the SoCal Group only to be ignored. At this point, not sure what to do about my wasted investment.Review fromAshley H

GM hasn't responded to my emails for cancellation on my membership. The website says you can email to cancel, but I haven't received a thing. I also emailed ********************************* Idk why they have to make things so much more difficult than they are. I get you need to retain memberships and beat profits and what not, but people's situations change and being charged still for a membership when I'm unemployment financially hurts. I wouldn't consider going back to this gym once my circumstances change because of this ***************.Gold's Gym SoCal

1 starThe cancellation procedure is so horrendous! I wanted to cancel my membership and they've given me a site which is "myiclub.com". However, I cant figure out how to have my membership cancelled so I have to give the gym a call. They've given me a phone number to contact but no option on talking to a customer rep.Fortunately for me, my account details didn't match, only then that I was able to speak to a rep. I was charged 2 months which is fine as I just wanted to end my dilemma.Tip: Call 888-TAPZANA to cancel your account. When asked if your account matches, say "No" so you'd be able to speak to a rep. **** this helps other members.Review fromHw W

1 starThey overcharged me multiple times and keep making up different excuses as to why they did. I was told I paid first and last months fees and now theyre saying I was only charged $4 when it was around $20. I was then told one of my memberships wasnt active due to an employee making an error and had to pay again to have it reinstated. They claim to have no record of charging me $20 and it shows only $4 on their part. They have such horrible customer service and are no help when you have any questions. I just wanted some clarity as to why I was charged those extra fees when they only have records of $4 and the sales manager just said idk what to tell you and that I should have the receipts cause they dont.Review fromGreg R

They will rob you and they do so with pride. When trying to cancel my membership, I was given a number of a "third party" company to call. This number makes it impossible for you to ever speak to a human being, and the system will continuously send you in circles in an effort to make you give up. I called several times to Golds Gym management to ask for help, but ******* was dismissive and arrogant. She wouldn't let me finish my sentence and immediately just said there is nothing she can do. I could not believe this was truly happening to me. This was clearly a cleverly design system to discourage members from quitting their membership and the Golds Gym team are well rehearsed for how to respond to customers who are unable to quit. They are smug, dismissive and it almost feels like its the highlight of their day when someone calls, because they get to bully you and shrug their shoulders. I eventually managed to cancel and had to pay an extra month. On a visit to the Gym one day, I was told that I could not get access to the gym by *******. They wont refund me the extra month that they took upfront.Look at the other reviews on BBB, other members are having the same experiences with quitting their membership.Gold's Gym SoCal

We are sorry to hear that you had a tough time cancelling your membership through our billing partner. To make managing your membership smoother, they offer 2 methods of cancellation - online through myiclubonline.com and their 800 #. The team in the club are unable to manage your account which is why you were given that information. Additionally, you must give 30 days notice to cancel which explains the additional month that you were billed. Typically, you would be able to continue using the facilities during that time period until your membership completely expires. However, after looking into the notes on your account, there are quite a few key details missing in this complaint which would explain why you were not allowed access. Your membership was revoked prematurely due to a verbal altercation you had with one of our team members. Page 4, section H of your membership contract: H.Any member who is loud, offensive, and bothersome to other members or in Clubs sole discretion behaves otherwise in an unbecoming manner or who is cited for infraction of rules and regulations may be suspended or expelled from the Club. In the event of termination, the unused portion of any advanced payment shall be forfeited to the Club.Should you have any other concerns you would like addressed, you may reach out to ** directly at ********************************************Review fromDavid M

Abuses the contract and ensures customer does not read what they're signing, distracts and lies about all of their plans and will ensure they take the most out of your wallet that they can. Do not use Golds Gym, filled with awful people who lie to you to get their money. I hope this review prevents someone from going here so they can save themselves the stress from dealing with these peopleGold's Gym SoCal

There are no specifics as to what this complaint is about. I am happy to look into your membership to see if there was in fact some sort of miscommunication but will need some more information. Often times, members do not understand the annual facility fee charge (AFF) built into each membership that occurs 45 days after joining and then once a year on that anniversary. This is explained upon signing the contract. Please feel free to reach out to me and I will work to get your issue resolved.Gold's Gym SoCal

2 starsA few months back I had an injury and was unable to go to the gym so I spoke to ****** ***** and send an email to stop charging my account. After a month or so I send her an email to cancel my account and I was questioned place on hold or Cancel the account and I replied to cancel my account. And this is when she stopped communicating with me. After 1 month I noticed a charge on my account, I called in and spoke and was told the manager is going to have a meeting with her to resolve this matter, and I waited for about to 2 weeks and no answer. I called in again and was put on hold for a while and no on line. Again after a week or so I was told she is transferred to the Glendora location. Finally, when I called in a couple of weeks ago and told them I have email confirmation for cancellation and was told I was supposed to call in a third part to cancel, and I called and was on hold forever. How LOW WILL GOLDS GYM Stoop for $20.00 per month? Now I I have 2 months of $20.00 each and will file a complaint with my bank to stop payments. I even left messages for the manager to call me and no one did.SHAME on **********.Review fromMaia G

1 starAfter years of being a member and having built great relationships with the team and members, a new trainer by the name of ****** ********* has come in and totally destroyed the golds gym experience for me and my friends. He goes above and beyond to make us feel uncomfortable. Another member even saw him taking photos of us working out the other day. His behavior is unacceptable and should not be tolerated. I've emailed corporate about this and will be looking into filing a formal complaint as no one should be harassed, for any reason especially by an employee of brand built on motivating and inspiring it's community.
UPDATE!!!!!! So after addressing issues of harassment by a new employee by the name of ****** with their VP **** **********, the company has done absolutely NO investigation into my claims and has decided to revoke my membership. This employee has made several other female members feel the same way, and now will feel justifiably so by the actions of Gold's gym. It's absolutely appalling! To make matters that much more unprofessional, they could not even directly address my issues but rather sent me a generic text message through their messaging system. This is after speaking directly with their VP who assured me they valued my membership, and would look into this.
I was a long time member who added value to that gym by promoting their brand, bringing new members and always motivating those around me. I will definitely be sharing my experience as much as possible so that this person doesn't continue to harass others, and that this gym knows what kinda atmosphere it's creating for it's members.
