A couple months ago, I ordered numerous items from: PoliceAuctions.com... 52 items in fact, totaling over $5,000. Most every item I purchased had an appraised value of significantly more than the purchase price. I decided to get multiple pieces of jewelry appraised and they appraised for less than mere pennies on the dollar. This is a scam and I'm not at all happy because I did see they had a good BBB rating. I wish to have all items returned for a refund. I paid about $10 to have each item shipped as well and would like those fees refunded as well.

Please note the customer in question made no attempt to contact us before contacting the BBB.  We do not provide appraisals for our items.  We are not responsible for 3rd party appraisals.  The following is listed under our bidding terms in the item descriptions:

"The red strike-through price that sometimes appears above items is a computer-generated asking price, not a value.  No value is implied by the strike-through price or any fraction thereof."

The return period for the items has expired, but in the interests of providing excellent customer service, we are willing to accept the items back and refund the customer, including the original shipping.  We will manually create the 53 RMA numbers for the customer.  She will need to return those to PoliceAuctions.com, **************************************************************  We recommend sending the items back insured, signature-required.  The customer should include the list of RMA numbers in the return box, failure to do so will delay processing.  Please allow up to 5 business days from receipt of the items back.  Thank you.

Yesterday April 16th I made a bid on a tanzanite ring and won when I went to pay for it it said my payment was declined. I thought the bank declined my payment but they were closed at the time I called. On Monday April 17 I called the bank and they said no payment was declined. I then saw that an item I wanted was an amethyst ring that I was looking for for awhile and I placed a bid on that one as well. I went to pay for it and the payment was declined again. I called my bank again and they said no payment request came through and nothing was declined and that the business must have declined it. But it asked me to make a payment using another method. I couldn't figure out why I would because I mainly only use my one card. So I wrote to them asking them why was the payment declined and gave me a million reasons and none of them applied to me. So I asked them to give me a definitive answer of why my payment was declined and they told me I was cancelled from their site. My question is still outstanding on why.....I ordered several things from them for friends etc. some were very nice and some......but I never returned an item. I know the site is potluck so to speak. But they are in the business to sell and to make the best bid for an item. I wrote to them again asking them for a more specific reason and no answer and all the tickets which I believe were three were gone from site with no response. However the site still said I had two wins and emails stating I had two wins but I was unable to pay for them. None of this makes sense to me...So what did I violate and why did it keep asking me to pay for something that I couldn't pay for...and why ask me for another card because it was denied when the card didn't deny it but it was them who denied me from making a payment....nothing makes sense and very illogical. I would like the items I was denied and to make the payment for them and then they can cancel me. What they did was wrong in how they did it .

The user's account is not in good standing and their access has been terminated.  For security reasons, we regulate the amount of purchases a new user can make.  The user ran into this limit and violated our terms of service by creating a second account to circumvent the first time buyer limit and policy.  We take credit card fraud prevention very seriously and rigorously enforce our limits.  Creating more than one account per household is a violation of our terms of service.  Accordingly, the user is terminated permanently.  Thank you.

    Customer Answer

One----A business is there to sell items and what is their limit on first time buyers and since I have been doing this for several mos what constitutes a first time buyer.

Two- I never created another account and only have been using one account and one credit card.so accusing me of fraud is unprofessional and a down out lie.  Prove it.

Three --for a business to not respond to me when I called and asked them what happen they gave me a bunch of reasons that did not apply to my question is highly unprofessional

Four --for a business to accuse me of fraud without any proof is unprofessional and unethical..

Five--If you think I created another account then you have the obligation to tell me what it is-- because you can't because it never happened

Six--when you denied my credit card why did you ask for another form of payment

Seven-- Why did you delete all of the proof I had of the transactions and my questions to you regarding my account?

Eight-- Why did you allow me to make the bid and state that I won and then deny?  Why not block the bid? and you allowed me to make a bid the following day and then denied the payment but still asked for another form of payment

Nine---why do I have to resort to contacting the BBB for a legimate response from you....but so far the responses are inaccurate on your part and still not legitimate/relevant to what transpired

Ten--I can prove that all the transactions I did with you was from one account and one credit card...

We are not able to publish personal identifying information into this response as per the BBB.  The user has 2 accounts.  The name on the address label is the same for both accounts, but is different from the name used in the contacts with the BBB, exactly the type of red flag that would trigger a first-time buyer limit on purchasing.  The account was located using the email address provided in the BBB complaint.  Two accounts, both with the same name, which is different the name used here, are attached to the accounts and the delivery address is exactly the same.  Please refer to the terms of service.  We are not obligated to allow you to purchase from **.  You have violated our terms of service which limit accounts to one per household.  You have misrepresented that here.  You will not be reinstated.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 04/19/2023

    1. You made assumptions which is incorrect
    2. You accused me of fraud and deception that's defamation
3.Packages are being delivered to the same address.  This is due to temporary medical situations handicap accessibility convenience and package delivery security.
    4. I used my credit card to purchase the jewelry and only my credit card. He used his credit card.  Two separate accounts.  My name is on his account for necessities and emergencies. He lives at the address on his credit card billing as I live at my address from my credit card billing.

    5. Our last names are not the same.

6.You stated I committed credit fraud which is defamatory.  You stated I used his credit card to make purchases with you which is theft.  How dare you!

7 All the information I have provided is accurate and can give proof.  THE INFORMATION YOU MADE TO THE BBB IS INCORRECT AND ARE ASSUPMTIONS ON YOUR PART AND DEFAMATORY

    8. Let me make this clear as well my billing address and home address is ***********.  I have made numerous complaints on how the postal worker delivers my packages.  However, because I come here 2-3 or more times per week I deliver all packages here since it is safer especially since it is jewelry being delivered.

9 YOU MADE ASSUMPTIONS - you allow me to bid and win then state my card was declined when it wasn't . Why ask for another payment card when you declined the purchase and not the card company-THAT IS DECEPTION.

10 Then you erase all past conversations which is hiding the facts.

11 Conversation with BBB could have been avoided if you responded to me and not give some odd response which did not pertain to my question.

12 Your business is to make sales is it not?

13 If a new buyer is close to their limit you should inform them. You let them win and claim their card is declined? Really? THAT IS DECEPTION? for a POLICE auction?

I won 4 bids in the month of February totalling almost $200. I was told items would be shipped within 24 hours. I never received no response. I called 4 times, and leave messages, email 3 times. I was told my money would be refunded, my money was never refunded, I have not received any other information from the website.

The user was refunded for all of their items on March 4, 2023 and has been told this numerous times through support interactions.  The user's account is not in good standing.  The user has violated our terms of service by opening multiple accounts to circumvent our controls over the auction.  The user has misrepresented the facts here as well.  They have already been refunded in full for all items.  No further action is needed on our part because the refunds were already issued.  The user's multiple accounts have been terminated.  Thank you.

The customer contacted us through email and we responded today, February 10, 2023 with return instructions through our support page.  To obtain a refund for the items, the customer must return the items.  Not refunds will be issued without returning the items.  It's clear from this interaction that the customer did not use the customer support system on the site as it is intended to be used.  We did not hear from the customer through customer support.  We typically reply within 12 hours.  The customer made no real good faith effort to contact us before complaining to the BBB and Paypal.  The items are as described.  Full gemology and materials are provided in each description.  The customer purchased gold-plated items as noted in the item descriptions.  Please read the item descriptions.  The key to a positive customer experience is full reading the item description.  Please note that fake is not a material used in manufacturing.  We test the stones we sell with a portable stone-tester that displays the material, so we know the stones are authentic.  If a jeweler or some other 3rd party told the customer otherwise by eyeballing the items, we understand that might make the customer upset.  In any event, full refund will be given upon return of the items.  That is our normal return policy.  Please contact us through support on the site, not email, if you need assistance in finding the return links on your My Wins page.  Thank you.

I bought several items from them they claimed they were really diamonds come to find out they were not. I want my money back.they mislead me lied to me charged me a arm and a leg for costume jewelry

    Business Response

There's no problem returning the items for a full refund, just use the return links on your 'My Wins' page.  The items are as described.  We use a portable stone tester to verify diamonds and other stones.  The tester measures the heat retention of the stones and displays the material.  It's an accurate way to test the stones.  If a jeweler or other 3rd party eyeballed the stones and said they were 'fake', they did you a disservice.  In any event, we are happy to take the items back.  Just follow the return links on your 'My Wins' page.  If you need assistance, please contact us through our support form on the site.  Thank you.

I bought three items on this website. I won the bids. For the bids I did not win, I received an offer to purchase. I declined. The items shipped to me and required duties payment. I was suspicious of this so I only paid for one. So on top of the cost of the item, I paid shipping and duties. I opened the package and it is fake jewellery. I am refusing to pay for the other two items and they will be sent back. I opened a ticket to get a refund on this fake item but they are requesting that I ship it back so it will cost me shipping back and forth and the duties I paid to get nothing in return. This is such a scam. I am requesting a full refund. The item isn't even worth the shipping and duties far less than the actual price I paid. I paid for three items totalling ******. I also paid $28 as customs. I have attached the proof of payment. The **** they gave me was ******.

    Business Response

    Date: 11/04/2022

The site is not a scam.  The items are as described, please refer to the item listing.  Fake is not a material used in manufacturing.  The items are listed as plated and we verify the stones with a portable stone-tester that displays the material.  Refer to your local customs office for refund on customs fees.  Follow return procedures to obtain a refund on the item you accepted. We have refunded the 2 refused items.  Please allow up to 48 hours for those refunds to process.  Please contact support directly if you need follow up.  Thank you.
