My husband and I were going to have solar panels installed on our home but due to a death in our family, which we incurred a lot of unexpected expenses for, decided we couldn't move forward at this time. I reached out to our sales representative to explain our situation and let him know we are going to have to wait on the solar panels. Though he said he understood, he kept trying to talk us into going with a smaller system and I told him it just wasn't a good time for us. After going back and forth with him, he finally realized we were not going to be talked into the service he sent an email saying that due to the cancellation we will be charged cancellation fees totaling $1785.89. I called customer service to speak with a supervisor regarding this fee and was told the only person I can speak to about this is our representative and they would send him the message. I received an email from the representative on 7/15/22 thanking me for reaching out and that I can discuss the fee with him and he will see what he can do. I received an email from him on 7/16/22 saying he is trying to find ways to get me out of paying the fees and maybe a smaller system is the better path. I let him know that was not an option at this time and he said if we would go with a smaller system he would be able to eliminate the charge of $1785.89 otherwise, if we don't move forward, they will charge us $1785.89 for cancelling. I was sent an email asking when we will pay $1785.89. I asked for an itemized invoice because I don't understand what we are being billed for. Their response was they don't send itemized invoices. Each time I have received emails asking for payment I have responded the same way. Finally, on 9/12/22 I received an email with the same request but the permit receipt was attached. I asked for a breakdown of the rest of the charges and she typed out some numbers and emailed them. I feel like we are being taken advantage of and charged for work thaBusiness Response

Hello thank you for reaching out about thisThis homeowner requested to cancel their project well beyond the statutory limit for canceling and after we had done a tremendous amount of work preparing the project for installation. This includes multiple visits site assessment design and engineering drafting plan sets dropping off and picking up plans. We did send her a copy of all the figures from the p&l We have on the job so far and quite frankly did not include any other type of overhead involved and so our costs are actually much higher than what we billed.
We understand that the homeowner would like to cancel their project but it is very reasonable for us to recover the money we spent so far. Even if the homeowner felt that they should pay a lesser amount they haven't even sent in what they think they should pay.

Thank you for your response. I have tried multiple times via phone and email to speak with someone at Semper Solaris to get this resolved fairly and have not received any returned phone calls. I did, finally, receive an "itemized invoice" via email on 9/15/22 after several emails asking for one and being told this company does not provide itemized invoices. I responded by asking someone to call me to discuss but never received a call. There was 1 site visit that lasted possibly 10 minutes. As I stated, we feel that it is fair to pay the out of pocket expense this company had for the permit of $460.89. We also feel it is fair to pay the $125.00 for submitting the permit. In total we will agree to pay $585.89 to get this completely resolved. If Semper Solaris is agreeable to this, they can provide a phone number I can call to submit this payment via credit card over the phone ASAP. We would just like to be done with this.

They replaced ******* 8/5/2022 and then installed solar When we looked at the roof from the garage we have holes in the roof where sun light is coming thru. I contacted the ******* of the job and he stood me up for two appointments. I then contacted the main contact of the j ob and he said he referred this to managment and they would contact me As of now, I have not heard anything and I still have sunlight in the roofBusiness Response

I purchased a solar system and new roof for ******* on 3/20/22. I purchased it through Semper Solaris. The company installed the roof and system 4/1/2022. The roof was not installed correctly and they covered up over rotting boards of which I spent extra to have replaced. I immediately notified the company to which they stated would be resolved (******, project manager) as well as customer service. The company and their reps ************************ JavellBrown@sempersolaris ************ ****************** of which I have multiple phone numbers names and contacts have not resolved the roof correction nor provide a working solar system??!! as promised. They installed a solar system that never passed city inspection and does not work. I now have a $500 payment due to the finance company as well as an electric bill. This is fraudulent and we will start a lawsuit if this is not resolved immediately . I have worked with them diligently since April 2022. This has been horrifying. I did receive a completed contract that they got the rest of the money from the finance company yesterday 8/30/2022. How can they charge for contractual services that were not rendered as promised. I bought a 27 panel solar system from this company with micro inverters on each one at the start of 2021. I April 2021 19 of the 27 panels stopped producing energy. I contacted the company and it took almost 5 months and numerous calls to customer service. Today 8/29/22 they were supposed to come out and replace the damaged micro inverters. I took the day off to he here and they just came out to tell me that they are not fixing them. They also told me that all of them have to be replaced. They are citing a grid event and stated they are not covering under warranty because enphase will not cover. So now i pretty much have a almost ***** dollar loan for garbage on top of my roof. Also i paid them an extra **** dollars for a critter guard to protect from bird nesting under and even that failed. This company is nothing but problems. I went with them because they seemed respectable but i realize is not the case.Business Response

Seems like nobody wants to take responsibility for this i contacted Semper Solaris, Enphase and SCE and they all are just passing the blame on each other. My equipment should have been protected by some kind of surge protection and apparently it was not. I havent been offered any options other than telling me is not their fault. This is unfair and I dont think is right. I have read the warranty on the micro inverters and it does not state anything against a mild surge on energy as they call it in their email. They are just trying to void the warranty when they should honor it. I now have a worthless system and ***** dollars debt.Business Response

Semper Solaris installed an HVAC system at our home that was leaky and caused a large amount of water damage in our attic that ran down into our kid's rooms. The water damage has resulted in mold forming in the kids room walls. We have reported this to Semper Solaris and while their technician acknowledged that the faulty installation led to the water damage, they have failed to inspect or attempt to fix the water damage. We would like them to assess and fix the water damage in the drywall and carpeting in our kids rooms.Business Response

I contracted the company to install solar and battery backup system. Since the completion of the installation on 3/8/2022, I have experienced multiple incidents of power outage due to battery system failure, even when the grid is online. And when today (8/9/2022) the power grid went offline for a few minutes, the battery backup didn't provide any power! After the grid restored, the battery was still offline and I had no power! This system is not operating as it is claimed by the company, and caused more inconvenience than w/o it.Dates when I lost power due to battery failure:3/9 3/21 4/1 4/25 6/12 7/11 7/20 8/9 I have contacted the company for every single incident listed above, either by phone, voice message or email. They have sent out technicians several times, fixing something here and there, or just taking a look but done nothing. Unfortunately they were never able to fix it and the situation remains the same. And the latest update I had (somewhere around 7/25) was that the "battery expert" will look into it. I wasn't able to get an answer to what the root cause is and how they plan to resolve it.Business Response

Feb '22 - Present, 13k. Initial meeting was great, & reason why I chose them. But since that date nothing has gone correctly. It took them 3 times to get the proper permit, 1st time previous owners name, 2nd time wrong location for enphase box, 3rd correct enphase box location. Which at time of install was not actually used, so still not properly permitted. During install they also cut a phone line and didn't fix it because "NO ONE COMPLAINED". They told me because of placement they were going to give me a WIFI booster and they didn't now because of that my panels are not connecting to host to be updated. Also it is noted on my acct. that WIFI booster is necessary. It took almost a month for them to come fix the hole in my garage and that was done at time of Failed inspection. At time of inspection on July 15th found out the the wrong conduit ****** was used so it didn't pass inspection. It took multiple calls and emails to get someone to contact me back to even talk about my acct and they said that there is only 1 person that knows what's going on and can fix ************ out right now. July 22nd finally fixed conduit. July 28th 2nd inspection Passed and they finally fixed the hole in my wall. This was just their inspection saying my unit is ready, I still have to wait for SDG&E to come do the final approval and turn on my unit. Semper Solaris has received all the monies owed for a job that took months longer due to their faulty office/team systems. I don't know when SDG&E will be out, but until then I am paying a Solar bill and regular SDG&E monthly pmt. I am usually all about supporting Veteran ran business as I am a ************** GYSGT, but I will not recommend them to anyone.Business Response

What they failed to mention is the past 7 times that they have came out and never fixed anything. They have not addressed the cut phone line, monitoring, or the 2 months refund that the lady previous was going to get me. Due to them not being able to fix it at all. I have lost countless hours and money waiting on them to fix the issue. I have asked for a independent company to come out look it over at their expense to fix the issue. They are unwilling and the only reason why i sent the individual way was. I waited pass the time I said i was available and they showed up after that. I just want all the issues fixed and right now I do not know if i can trust them to do it correctly.Initial Complaint

I contracted with Semper Solaris for HVAC and *********** system. Initially I was quoted for a 5 ton HVAC unit. Just before the installation took place a project manager called me to say my home only needed a 4 ton unit versus the 5 ton unit we were quoted on. He said the decrease in cost from the 5 to 4 ton unit was offset by the extra wiring needed for the 4 ton unit. Is that even logical?Upon the purchase of the solar system and execution of the contract my wife and I initialed a clause in the contract which says Manufacturers have indicated that we should have battery supply needed in Q3 2022 or later. While there was no discussion on a battery supply, the day we signed the contract, this clause exists in the section called Description of the project and Description of the Significant Materials to be used and Equipment to be Installed. This led my wife and I to believe we would have a battery supply installed with our solar system. On the day of the installation I asked the installers where they planned to install the battery supply, I showed them the agreement and they said, they didnt have a battery supply. But, to contact the office as they may be delayed as indicated on the agreement.I contacted the Semper Solaris office and the sales agent. They both insisted there was no battery supply included even though my wife and I initialed and acknowledged the battery supply was delayed on the contract.Business Response

My complaint is not disingenuous as you claim. I tried to get you legal department contact information on several occasions because I have contacted an attorney who believes you intentionally mislead customers with that clause in your agreement. Yet, you havent provided your legal department contact information and have failed to respond to my emails and messages. If this clause is standard on all your contracts Im sure there are many other customers who have been misled to believe the battery back up was part of the Purchase.

Date contract began was October 26, 2021 and we had to wait until March 22, 2022 for the job to begin. From that day to current, July 23, 2022 there have been multiple problems! Semper Solaris advertisement is full of lies, its quite the opposite, no organization or communications and lack of respect.Semper doesnt vet their veteran sub-contractors! Not sure they are even veterans. The first crew installed a very large mast (because that was all ********** had) bigger hole in roof, incorrect panel installed (not sufficient for the amount of breakers required). They attempted to run the grounding wire, outside around the front of our front doorsteps instead of under the house and not exposed. My husband had to stop them. They were let go. We were used as trial and error all at our expense, damage to our outer wall and roof. There were no layouts provided to All had to be redone by another team to unscramble the mess. There have been multiple teams coming to clean up the previous team's mess. There is a large hole in stucco exposing house to termites for over 2 months. Team after team, 3 project leaders and no communication. 2xs failed inspections over the past 4 months. We are not sure how the final inspection passed because there is something malfunctioning, no electricity can go through.Project manager ****** said on July 20th, looks like the system needs to be turned on. Two guys came and consulted on the phone because the system would not turn on, the unit is malfunctioning no connection. No follow up! We've had to constantly call to see what the next steps were. My husband told them he was calling BBB and now they want to come on Monday, July 25, 2022 to patch the wall and try to get this system to work. Amount of contract: $42,705.00 Change order: $9,891.00, new total: *********. Semper has taken all payments as of July 7th. The system is not working as of today.Business Response

Semper Solaris installed my roof and solar. When the sales rep informed us that they are a veteran company and they do all their own work we were impressed and it helped us with choosing this company to do both projects. On day one of install for the roof, the trucks that showed up said Reliable roofing and not a single person spoke English. Apparently we were lied to by the sales rep, when I asked him he confirmed what we were told and said he didn't know they subcontracted. After the roof was installed the water heater exhaust pipe wasn't connected to the roof. I contacted Semper Solaris and they "fixed" the problem quickly, next day. I checked on it and it appear they connected it to the roof from what I could see in the garage. After the entire project was completed the garage seemed very musty. Shortly after the install was completed our water heater started leaking which was odd and I thought it was just coincidental. I reach out to a plumber to replace the water heater and shortly after removing the heater he called me over to take a look at the roof. The exhaust vent was connected to a ****** but no vent was cut in the roof which could have led to the premature failure of the water heater. He said he would **** be separately for the vent and cutting a hole in the roof and doing the job properly, that should have been done by Semper Solaris. I reached out to my Semper Solaris roof rep who said that they'll cover the cost. Over the last 4 months, I've sent emails and made many phone calls to be told the same thing, "we'll get back to you in 48 hours." I'm still waiting for and answer which I'm assuming is they aren't going to cover anything. I've reached out to many people at Semper Solaris and no one is willing to give me an answer just saying they'll get back to me.Business Response
