1 starBuyers beware. Per Baker Home Energy contract, they only offer a ONE YEAR warranty on the labor. If your system breaks down, they will charge you an ARM AND A LEG to come fix it after that 1 year is up. Even though your *********** Walls come with a 10 year warranty from the manufacturer, the labor to replace the batteries is $950.00 per battery. Shop around. No other contractor in the area that I could find does this. Don't let Baker fool you by telling you this is standard. All the other contractors that I called offer a full 10 yr warranty including parts and labor for the entire warranty period of the power walls. I am going on my 2nd and 3rd powerwall that needs to be replaced in 4 years.Review fromMark S

Enphase system Baker recommended and installed failed after only 3 years and 4 months. Enphase furnished replacement at no cost but Baker insists on charging for install. I even offered to split the charge 50/50 but they declined. Their contract says 2 years on labor but doesn't mention the products they recommend are known for failing. Would have been good business to help me but they declined every offer I made for a compromise. Not good....Baker Home Energy

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your Enphase monitoring device. Our contracts are designed to reflect our commitment to quality workmanship and to clearly communicate the labor warranties we provide for third-party equipment. Additionally, we offer an extended labor coverage warranty for up to five additional years, which can be purchased within 90 days of the original warranty expiration.Review fromJustin S

1 starBaker can't seem to ever respond to emails. I've been waiting on a reply to one of them for almost 2 weeks to find out when my system will be turned on. Feels like once they've been paid, they really couldn't care less about their clients. Starting to think I need to take this up with the **** and the *****Review fromPATRICIA B

5 starsBaker Electric has assisted us in installing a solar battery for our panels. From the first visit everyone answered all questions and the whole team, from customer support to installation has been great. The process for permitting and inspection has been handled without a glitch.Review fromAdam W

5 stars**********, *********. Having poor experience with contractors in the past, I wasn't looking forward to replacing the electric box and rewiring this 1970's house back to compliance. I am pleased to say the week long experience was quite pleasant, far exceeding the expectations of not only myself but my husband-wife. There is still a lot of work to be done on this house, but if I need more electric work done I know whom I will be calling. I do want credit for this experience to go to ****. While the job site was technically Rob's, it was **** handling all of the interactions, making fine changes, and being the visual representation of the company. At multiple times he stopped us from taking the 'quick and easy' route in order to ensure the job was done properly. Due to this outlook, and the amount of work done on this house, I am completely reassured that the wiring isn't going to cause any more problems. My only regret was finding a serious unrelated plumbing problem that will consume the rest of my funds. Would have liked to talk to your company about expanding the solar panels. At this point it will need to be a later project, but **** has ensured you a repeat customer.Review fromChandler M

Our contract was signed after reassurances that our main breaker would not need an upgrade - something that most other bids included in their price. I don't hear from the sales representative again, until I am about to cancel the project 6 months later.2 months in, Baker tells me I would need to add an RMA instead of a main panel upgrade in order to move forward. Very quickly going back on what they sold me as this would add about 4k onto the total price. In the sales process, I described that one of the most important things for me - and part of the reason I selected Baker - was because they claimed to have a great roofing team. Baker gave me assurances that they could handle it and it was a big reason I decided to go with them. After they upsold me on an RMA the delays hit. To their credit, the delays were partially on the **** side due to shortages on ****. However, Baker was adamant that they didn't want to do the roof work until the week before the solar install in one of the wettest ******* on record. Finally, after much pressure on my end, I got them to install the roof "ahead of schedule". This was in February - a full 3 months after we had signed our contract. In the sales cycle they said that the whole project would be complete within ***** days.It is now July and I have no documentation whatsoever on the roof replacement. I have no warranty information or contractor licensing information from who they subbed out the job to.Their communication was sporadic, and It was far too often me who had to chase them down to get any word at all. Finally, **** sends us an automated email that we are not eligible for a RMA. Baker is flummoxed. They then try to get me to do a main panel upgrade instead - a piece that they ASSURED me that I didn't need during the sales cycle. After the delays and non communications piled up and no concrete date for install more than 6 months past when we began our contract, we cancelled.Baker Home Energy

********,
My name is *******, and I am the Solar Operations Manager at Baker Home Energy. Your Yelp and BBB review of your project experience has been brought to my attention and I wanted to reach out directly.
Customer satisfaction is of the utmost importance to us, and it is disheartening to learn that we fell short of meeting your expectations, please know that we take customer feedback very seriously. After investigating your project, I do see there was a lot of back and forth regarding your main service panel and the requirements of the panel in order to install the contracted solar system size. The back and forth is unfortunate as Baker strives to provide the cleanest, 100 percent code-compliant installation for each individual homeowner. I sincerely apologize that the requirements for your installation were not addressed in a clean and concise manner to you from the time of sale through your project's lifecycle.
Should you want to move forward with a solar installation, you can still be grandfather into NEM 2.0 as Baker has NOT canceled your net metering application. Your current application will need to be finalized prior to January ****. The system size would need to be that of your original contract and the existing panel capacity would need to be addressed.
I do see your roof work and electric vehicle outlets have been installed and paid in full and that close-out documents were sent in July. I trust the roof and EV outlets are as you expected, however; as part of our Baker process, we have a service team dedicated to assisting you with questions and concerns that *** arise regarding your roof and or EV outlets.

Again, I apologize we fell short of meeting your expectations. My contact information is below should you want to move forward at any time.

4 starsI've had experience with 2 other solar companies before working with Baker, so I have some comparative experience to give some perspective to my experience with Baker.I had a new 32-panel **** kW system installed in December 2021 which has been running near-flawlessly since it was turned on. The one issue I did have happened in April 2022, just as the panel arrays were starting to hit their peak production around noon each day. A circuit breaker on one of the arrays kept tripping at mid-day.I notified Baker and they promptly came out to diagnose the problem. The tech discovered that the panel arrays (on micro inverters) weren't properly balanced across the circuit breakers, so one had more panels than it should connected to it. The problem was corrected a few days later.Overall, I'm very satisfied with only a couple of nits. During the installation (which was admittedly at a rush time at the end of the year in 2021) the roofing was sent out to a sub, rather than being done by Baker, so communication during the roof prep was not great. I left messages by phone, text and email with the ** to ask about progress and scheduling changes, but response turnaround was slow and it was hard to get information. That said, they managed to get the SDG&E notice to permit activating the system before the end of the year, despite some weather that led to some delays, and the installation crew were all very professional and efficient. The sales rep was very responsive as a backup when I couldn't get through to the ** or needed some help getting information.Of the other 2 companies I deal with in the past, 1 of which abruptly went out of business (around the same time I was completing my Baker project), this has been a refreshingly positive experience.Review fromDan R

I signed a contract to have a 14 solar panel system installed back on March 16, 23. It is now 6/23/23 and they still dont have the design/plans done!-(COME ON BAKER! I could have done this myself by now as Im a retired electrician and am disabled. No phone calls/e-mails, until I called them, then just a repeated song and dance about how busy they are. If youre so busy, HIRE MORE PEOPLE!!! Wish I went elsewhereDan RBaker Home Energy

We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback regarding your solar panel installation experience. We understand your frustration and apologize for any inconvenience caused. We would like to address your concerns and provide some insights into the situation.
At the time of signing the contract on March 16, 2023, we disclosed, and you acknowledge that due to the significant increase in demand created by the change in Net Metering, the completion of projects would take longer than usual. As part of this disclosure, the intended completion date for the project was within nine months of NEM2.0 submission.
Regarding the lack of communication, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. We acknowledge that prompt and regular communication is crucial during the installation process. We regret any lapses in our communication efforts and will take this as an opportunity to improve our customer service procedures.
While we strive to meet the demands of all our customers, we understand that additional resources might be required during peak periods. We are constantly evaluating our staffing needs to accommodate the influx of projects. Your feedback reinforces our commitment to ensuring an optimal customer experience, and we will take your suggestion of hiring more personnel into consideration.
We apologize for falling short of your expectations, and we understand that you would have preferred to explore other options. However, we assure you that we are committed to completing your project as soon as possible. If you have any further concerns or questions, please reach out to us directly, and we will be more than happy to assist you.
Thank you for your understanding and patience throughout this process. We value your business and are dedicated to delivering a successful solar panel installation.Review fromHuynh V

I would give zero star if I could. They have a 10 year warranty for their system; HOWEVER, it does not INCLUDE the INVERTER (since according to them it's a third party manufacturer). Without the inverter, the solar power is useless, since it can not convert to electricity for usage. I paid for 28 panels and started getting notices from SDGE of increase high usage and a monthly $400-600. My true-up was in excess of $3000 last year. I tried reaching out to Baker electric for SIX MONTHS. Each time, either I would leave a message on their answering service or representative and be told someone would be contacting me back. After six months, I finally get an email stating my inverter is not working properly and has to be fix. I then receive a follow-up email stating Baker is not responsible for the faulty inverter since it's a third party equipment. Now my bill is back down to $65 a month.Baker Home Energy

Hi *****, We are happy the issue has been resolved with the hardware replacement. According to records-We received a call from you in January 2023 and apologize for our failure to return your call. We can confirm the system was operational at that time.-The solar system failed in late February 2023 -Baker Electric Home Energy proactively found it on 3/6/2023 and processed the hardware replacement under warranty -The warranty hardware arrived 3/14/2023 -We scheduled the hardware swap on 3/20/2023 -On 4/28/2023, We reached out regarding the solar production review and outlined the following:-We can confirm that your solar system is on and producing without error. We can perform production reviews every 2 years upon request around the anniversary of your energized date. Your solar system was energized on 11/17/2017.However, we did review the production for you now. From November 2017 April 2023 the solar system is guaranteed to produce ****** kWh. It has produced ****** kWh.At this time, the solar system is exceeding the production guarantee. We do apologize for the recent Solar Edge inverter failure, Baker does not provide a production guarantee due to 3rd party hardware failures. Moving forward we want to ensure you can monitor your solar system on a bi-weekly basis as Baker does not guarantee monitoring or 100% uptime. Solar Edge does have an online portal and an APP to help make monitoring easier. We are happy to confirm you have access to both if needed.Review fromShelley N

1 starI will admit, Baker did a great job with they were selling us our Solar. VERY responsive, understanding, quick. It was an easy process. But we've needed maintenance 3 times and they virtually disappear. One of our highest producing panels went out and it took nearly 4 months to replace. We had to send an email to pretty much every address we could find to get someone to get back to us. Right now we're waiting to get a leak fixed. There is water coming out of light fixture. They came out quickly to look at it and fix it. But they didn't fix it and said they would reach out within a few days to schedule someone to come back out. No one reached out. They tarped on top of our roof, but when it started raining again, it was still leaking. I reached out and was told someone would come out. No one did and no one responded to me again. We called and emailed again, and after a week got a return call that someone would be out in three days. Great! They never showed up. We have called and emailed about 5x since the no-show and no one will return our calls or our emails. Meanwhile we're losing out on solar production and water is simply sitting on my drywall, most likely growing mold. They have horrible customer service once you are their client.
