I inquired about getting my lens fixed on January 11th. I described my problem and they sent an email with directions on how to send my lens to their store and further instructions.I called and spoke to a man who diagnosed the problem and resent the shipping details.I did not pay any money as they offered free shipping on my lens. The business committed to providing repair services at the quoted price. They emailed me days after receiving my lens saying the issue was more than what it was and doubled the invoice cost. After looking into this business and finding reviews on Reddit, this business has done this to many customers in the past. The same storyline and same excuse for needing additional funds.I refused to pay any money and wanted them to ship my lens back. In return they sent me a quote for inspection fee and shipping, when the original services included free shipping. I cannot trust that my lens will be shipped back even if I pay what they are requesting. They are holding my lens as hostage and I do not know if I will get my lens back. I have not heard from them since and have sent multiple emails. This is a very expensive lens - costing almost $3K.The business has not tried to resolve the problem and my next steps are to take legal action.I just want my lens back and for no one to get tricked into this again.Initial Complaint

Well my story about this business is just about exactly like others on here. This company calls themselves "authorized". Authorized by their own naming only. My lens needed repair. Online they quoted me something like $140. Sent in the lens. A few weeks later after hearing nothing, I finally get ahold of them. "Surprisingly", they found more issues with the lens, and the repair bill was going to be well north of $300. I say no thanks. After a few more follow-up emails where they keep offering me phony discounts and a cheaper price (red flags going up everywhere), I give them a firm N-O. The last email is a bill for over $140 for "inspection fee". What a complete scam. I've demanded they return my lens and that I wont be paying this phony fee. And now they've gone silent. Big mistake of mine not coming here first. Run from this place. Or better yet, if you live near ***********....visit them and make them be accountable.Initial Complaint

I found Camera Repair Center on line, advertising that they repaired ********* Lumix cameras. I called them and they said repair would be around $140.00. I explained a common problem with the camera was that the zoom lens sticks. As I had another camera fixed a couple of years ago by another company for around $100.. I agreed to the amount and paid $30.00 to have it shipped to ************They received my camera on 4/24/2024 and told me that they needed $249.26 to fix the camera. After thinking about it, I told them to return my camera. On 5/6 they agreed to repair the camera for $186.94 but could only take a check or ****** for payment before they would work on the camera. I mailed a check on 5/6. On 5/15 they said they got the check and would order the part. Then I got a invoice from ****** for $249.20 which they said to disregard. About 5/21, I received the camera. After opening it and trying to take a photo, the zoom stuck. I emailed them and they said it was covered under warranty and to send it back to them. I debated, but finally paid another $30.00 to send the camera back on 7/1. On 8/23 I got the camera back. Same problem, the zoom still stuck and the camera did not operate correctly. When I emailed them, they sent the same caned answer to return the camera and they would fix it. I declined to spend another $30.00. to resend It. If they could not do a simple fix two times I had no faith in them being able to fix it. I think they mislead me and charged me for no work done! I am out $246.94. I think they should make it right and quit misleading people. I have keep all the e-mails documenting this transaction.Initial Complaint

On February 22, 2022, I asked for an estimate for a repair to my **** Handycam DCR TRV-27 camcorder via the website for *********************************************** Repair Center (********************************************************* ) Their website clearly states that estimates are free. I received an email stating my tape deck assembly unit requires replacement, and the repair would cost $112.00. At the time, I was wasn't sure I wanted to proceed. On December 30, 2023, I again requested a repair estimate, and a repair order number of CR28044 was generated. I eventually decided to go forward with the repair and emailed the company on August 11, 2024, to inquire as to whether the repair order for CR28044 was still valid and whether I should use that number to proceed with the repair. They responded yes. I sent the camcorder to them. On August 17, 2024, they acknowledged they received the device and stated the cost to repair it was $269.26, more than double the original estimate. I declined the repair and asked for the device to be shipped back to me, stating that I would pay return shipping. However, they responded with an invoice with an additional "inspection fee" of $45.00. At the time, the Terms and Conditions posted on their website regarding estimates clearly stated: "If you choose to decline this estimate your product will be returned to you unrepaired and you are responsible cost of return shipping & handling ONLY." No mention of inspection fees. I reminded the company of their policy on Sept 7, 2024 and asked them to please revise the invoice to reflect the $21.85 for return shipping only. On Sept 10, 2024, I noticed they revised the ****************** on their website to suddenly include inspection fees. This business is engaged in BAIT AND SWITCH, by providing a "free" repair estimate and then doubling the estimate quoted after they had my device in their possession. They are now charging me a bogus fee to get my device back.Initial Complaint

In August 2024 the company send me an estimate to fix my lens for $192. I mailed the lense and now they sent me an email saying that it will cost me $379 to have it fixed. When I told them that I cannot afford to fix it, they try to give me a discount and lowered it to less than $300. I told him that I can only afford $200 because that's what they told me on my email. I declined them repairing it. Now they **** me a bill for $140 to inspect it and to return it. Nowhere on their site does it say they were going to charge over $100 to inspect the cameras. They do not inform anybody that they're going to charge that much. I have sent lenses in the past to get it repaired and they only charge you to ship it back if you don't want them to repair it. They have $1,000 lens and they're not going to return it unless I pay the $140 for them to inspect it. I looked this company up online and they have a lot of bad reviews, I wish I would have read them first. But this company does not need to get away with this , if I would have had any idea that it was going to be double the price for them to repair it, I would not have sent it, plus to charge that much for inspecting it.Initial Complaint

I submitted a request for camera repair online from Camera Repair Center. They then emailed me an estimate for $112. The estimate was about what I expected, so I sent my camera via *** to them. They received it, and then said the repair charge would be $229.26.I was not expecting double the estimate, since I can in fact buy a used item for less than $100.I looked online and found very bad reviews that basically said the company always has these issues. This is fraudulent. Then I emailed the company and told them the repair amount was over double the quote and not acceptable. They then sent me two more emails lowering the price each time to $183.40 and then $160.48, but never the original quote. Then when I asked them to please return my camera they sent me a ****** invoice for $83. The consumer needs to be warned.Initial Complaint

I contacted Camera Repair Center on Sunday, August 4th for a price estimate. I received an e-mail later that day that estimated repair costs to my broken camera would cost $182.00. On Tuesday, August 6th, I decided to have Camera Repair Center look at my camera and they sent me information how to send it. I shipped my camera to them via *** for $29.22.Camera Repair Center received my camera by Monday, August 12th. I heard no updates at all. Later that day, I got a replay that they finally looked at it and I was told that the camera would now cost $398.26. I declined the service. They then sent an e-mail that they would give me a 15% discount for a first time repair and it would cost me $338.52 as long I as I paid via check or Zelle instead of credit card or ******* I declined the service.I then got an e-mail later that day. I sent 2 camcorders for repair in Oct 2023. I was charged $454 to repair both. After several months of no news I called and they said one was repaired and did return that camera. I still do not have the second camera almost 11 months later. I have called and left messages at least 4 times with no call back. I have also emailed 4 times with no response. The camera in question is JVC GR-DVM1 SN: ********. They say there is turnaround time is 5-7 business days but it has been 11 months and I can't get any contact with them.Initial Complaint
