A new employer requested a background check and HireRight initiated it on June 11. After inquiring with HR, they state I cannot receive a start date until HireRight completes their report to them. I contacted HireRight on 7/9/2025 and they stated the were waiting for *********, ********* to give information on a criminal case with my information. I stated I have never lived in this area and have no connection to this county to review the inquiry and my information. HireRight stated I should call the county directly to ask them to review the inquiry as they have requested 4 times with no response. I called the **************** on 7/9/2025 and they stated they have no record of the inquiry with my full name and date of birth on file. They suggested I call back HireRight and ask for a confirmation number for the inquiry to search the records directly to complete the inquiry. When I called HireRight on 7/9/2025 they said they cannot share that information with me because the inquiry was made in person and did not receive a confirmation or refernce number. I am requesting HireRight review my correct information to confirm the inquiry in *********, ** and call the county directly at ************ or email them in order to complete my background check and send the correct report to my new employeBusiness Response

Thank you for your comments. This report is closed. Search locations are not limited to where one lives. As noted in the report on the day of its ordering, searches in this jurisdiction can take longer for reasons that stem from that states appellate decision limiting information with which background checks are conducted. HireRight claims to complete background checks within 21 days and this is rarely the case. Every single time HireRight is used they always take Ive 1 month to do their job! I have read countless reviews of people that have lost jobs because of this companies negligence! If you can not do the job stop waisting peoples time and stop ruining peoples lives! Checkr and Sterling always get the job done and within 2 weeks at the most. A month is completely unacceptable! Do your job or Im getting lawyer!!!!Business Response

HireRight was used as a 3rd party to obtain a background check. I was told on 4 occasions that the completion date had to be pushed back 4x due to issues at the county level. The completion date is now at a month since the start of the check. This would normally not be a problem. However, I was able to obtain a background check from 2 other background check companies to the county level within less than 24. Thus raising concern for the validity of the hold.Business Response

Details of the Complaint:I have been waiting on a background check from HireRight that has been delayed for weeks. The delay is tied to a record check in ******************, **********, which has still not been completed. Each day I check my status, it states that the check will be completed tomorrow. This status has not changed for an extended period. It appears to be a false promise, updated daily, with no real progress being made.I have attempted to get help from HireRight numerous times:Ive called multiple times and have had representatives hang up on me or disconnect during live chat conversations. When I do manage to speak to someone, I am given generic responses and no actual explanation or timeline.I contacted ****************** directly, and they confirmed that HireRight is responsible for completing this background check, not the county. The delay is entirely on HireRights side. The lack of transparency, communication, and professionalism has been incredibly frustrating and stressful. I am currently being prevented from starting or continuing employment because of HireRights inaction.Business Response

Thank you for your comments. We apologize for any frustration during this process. Most searches completed quickly, some on the day the report was ordered. Also. on the same day the report was ordered, notification was provided to you, as well as to the employer, through explicit notation about known delays in this particular search location concerning access to court records. As written on your report, on the first day your report was ordered, and relating to an appellate decision in the state where this jurisdiction lies, the courts will no longer allow researchers access to complete date of birth on record indexes, and have also removed other personal identifying information such as driver's license numbers. As a result of the removal of date of birth, some requests require clerk assistance to process. When clerk assistance is needed, the **** can exceed 30 days. While you may have contacted the court and have been told by a person who you spoke with that HireRight is responsible for preparing background reports, access to records is provided by the court.Access is limited for searching for records and that access is controlled by the court. An estimate provided on the report as to when a search may complete is based on what it may take under normal circumstances. If the search is not allowed to be conducted due to lack of access to the court, by the estimated date, then the estimated date must be adjusted. As we processed the other searches in your report based on the availability and access to be able to conduct those searches, and they completed quickly, so too do we want this one to be completed as quickly as it can be done. We look forward to the completion of this remaining search and the closing of this report to take place as soon as possible.Initial Complaint

Began Backround check process with HireRight in April 23 2025. Start date with my company would have been May 13th. HireRight is stating I have been flagged in ***********,Az which is holding up my Backround check and has pushed my start date back thirty days. I have advised HireRight I have never been associated with ***********, ** and to look into it further as there may be a mix up with my name. After several calls with HireRight and zero help, I contacted ***********, Az county Clerk myself who advised me no one from HireRight has tried contact them and also I do not have a record in the county, the record is for someone with a different DOB but a similar name. I contacted HireRight to advise and also provided notarized documents from the ***********, Az clerk and still HireRight has done nothing to expedite my Backround check and resolve the matter. At this point, HireRight is collecting unauthorized information on another person who didnt consensually agree to the background check, since who they are collecting the information on in ***********, ** is not me.Business Response

I submitted information for my background check and I was contacted that I need to provide more information about a past job. This happened on May 7, 2025. I submitted a phone number to my past company on May 8, 2025 and then submitted tax transcripts on May 11, 2025. I was notified on May 13, 2025 that my report was complete and my job was listed as having a discrepancy. I reached out to HireRight and was told this was closed on May 7, 2025 before I was even contacted and provided the required documents. Now I have to file a dispute because they didn't give me an opportunity to add more information. This is unacceptable *** should never have happened. Now I have to wait 72 hours because the didn't do their job.Business Response

Thank you for allowing us to respond to your questions about our report to you prospective employer. As you know, we were asked to provide, among other things, verification of your previous employment. We attempt to to verify employment by calling the employer directly or by using a paid service to which many employers subscribe to handle employment verifications for it. In verifying your employment with MTS, we were able to verify that you had worked there, but had been unable to verify and end of employment date. Thus, we reached out to you to obtain documents to verify this date. This search is now closed and it appears that your employer has concluded that your employment history as reported meets their standards. I believe this should resolve your concerns. If you have any remaining concerns, please us contact at ************, or online at ***********************************************************************************************************************************.Initial Complaint

This company was retained to perform a background check on me for employment purposes. During the course of the check, it was requested that I upload documents to assist with the verification procedure. I accidentally uploaded unredacted versions with sensitive personal information of the documents requested.I called support to request these documents be removed, I spoke to ***** *****, and she refused to comply. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, she disconnected me.Business Response

Thank you for your comments. Our apologies for any inconvenience or disconnection. HireRight background investigation requirements fall under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). As per todays call with you, if you would like to replace the documents that you originally submitted, that were unredacted, with redacted ones, we welcome the opportunity to assist with this. However, as matters can be brought for a period of up to five years, reports and supporting documentation submitted to support them, are maintained. While there is no requirement that background reports be deleted after any period of time, HireRight strives towards deletion after five years. Thank you for the opportunity to respond to your concerns.
