West Coast Dental provided substandard service and care that resulted in months of pain, discomfort, and personal difficulty. They refused or were unwilling to resolve the improper dental treatment I received. When I approached them with a request for my dental record and X-ray history in order to seek treatment at a new dental office, I was unable to make said request for seven days because "a manager wasn't on duty to handle it." When I was finally in contact with the manager, she told me she would not be able to provide my information digitally, which is an industry standard practice; instead, I needed to pay a fee and pick up a copy on CD format in a week. I paid the fee on 11/22/22 and waited the week and heard nothing back. After calling the office a dozen times, I finally spoke to somebody who said there was no record of my request for my file. I waited four more days of calling the office before a manger was present again. She didn't offer any apology and said she would look into it. I called the next week and the receptionist said the request was submitted but had not been fulfilled. Meanwhile, my teeth were in agony and I was unable to seek treatment elsewhere without my file and X-rays because my insurance would not cover new ones again within the same year. I called again on 12/18/22 and I got the same response; not fulfilled. I called again all this week and nobody picked up the phone. Finally, I spoke to somebody this morning, 1/5/22, and she said my X-rays had been compiled in 12/16/22, and there was no request submitted for my file records. This is pure and simple incompetence, mismanagement, and negligence that has led to tremendous personal difficulty and physical harm. I wish to be compensated for the improper dental treatment that resulted in my discomfort, as well as the fee I paid for the records, and I would suggest a full and comprehensive investigation into how this organization operates. They do not function in the interest of health.Business Response

To whom it may concern,
On 11/22/22, the patient requested a copy of his records and paid a $25.00 copying fee. The patient was advised the records were ready to be picked up and would need to sign the release of medical records form. ************** refused to pick up the records and requested that they be emailed to him. At this time, he was again advised he would need to sign the release of records and had been ready since December 16, 2022. The patient again contracted the office and was upset because the records had not been emailed, and the staff reiterated that the release had to be signed. Once the office obtained the signed form a copy of his records was provided.
Please note that the patient did not express any other concerns and did not advise the office he was in pain. Regardless, we regret customer service which failed to meet his expectations. We encourage Mr. ***** to contact the office should he have additional questions or concerns.

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is deceitful and untruthful. If you read any one of the dozens of one-star reviews on ****** or elsewhere online, you can tell this office is mismanaged and those in charge do not have the patient's best interest at heart. Even though it is industry standard practice to provide dental records in digital form, I was told it was against their company policy, which I accepted before agreeing to pay the $25 fee for the physical records to be copied, at the same time that I authorized the release of the information. Had they had a manager present any of the dozen times I tried calling, perhaps it would've been easier to communicate their difficulties in generating and organizing the transmission of my records, alas. That was not what I had an issue with though; rather, it was the blatant refusal to call me back with any accurate and adequate information regarding when I could pick the records up. Because the business is so poorly managed, it took drastically longer than it should have, as I made clear in my initial complaint, and it caused my physical pain and hardship because I was unable to seek dental care elsewhere due to West Coast Dental's negligence. However, given that this business ignored, denied, and lied about the truth of these occurrences, I just do not want anything to do with them. Its not worth going thru whatever bureaucratic nightmare of an administration in order to get $25 back. This is a corrupt organization that I want nothing to do with again. This is why I am accepting their terribly poor and false response instead of rejecting it. Not worth the trouble.
Sincerely,
*************************Initial Complaint

In July of 2021, I had an operation to get my wisdom teeth removed. When the claim was filed to my insurance it was denied by the insurance, all that was needed to resolve this issue was to have the dentist who completed my operation to sign a paper approving of the costs of the operation. But this was never completed by West Coast Dental, and was sent directly to**************************** for debt collection. Upon calling West Coast Dental they do not know what I am talking about, they do not know how to help me, and I get transferred multiple times with no assistance with my issue. Their collection company called MY MOTHER instead of myself and admitted that they believed that she was my wife, but they are not allowed to take collections from my MOTHER.Initial Complaint

I received an invoice from West Coast Dental Group for dental services for my daughter for a total sum of $395.40. I paid what I owed to the clinic on the day of service after waiting for over 3 hours as they thoroughly checked with insurance and confirmed the out-of-pocket amount I owed was $650.60, which I have paid. After getting the new bill, I contacted the clinic multiple times (most of which we are going to get back to you and no one did). After insisting on talking to the manager, who had been changed from our visit time, she stated that the doctor who performed the procedure was out of the insurance network despite assuring us on the visit day that it was all within the network. She also stated that nothing was in her hands, and it was with the Headquarters of west coast dental. We tried reaching out with no luck.
I mailed West Coast Dental on October 6 and didn't hear back from them except for another invoice without addressing the complaint.

Dentist office taking X-rays that were not covered as they were just done 6 months ago and I was not informed that they would not be covered. My insurance states my dentist can charge me $95 but I am getting a bill for. $160.00. Thought ********** had a no surprise billing from in network insurance. They are in network with my health plan but when I call they just say my insurance didn't pay I feel this was very dishonest as I was not informed up front about non covered services.Initial Complaint

I've been a patient of west coast dental since 2012,
On June 2022 I started my ortho treatment west coast dental,
At the time I started my 2-year contract of $100 a month. Since June 2022 to my understanding, all payment is on auto pay. This practice has since seen me in a monthly basis, not once has west coast dental informed me of any late or missed payments. On 9/28/22 after an appointment, I was informed I was sent to collection with no prior notice/ knowledge of any late / missed payments. Since no documents have been provided to me other than a phone number to an in house collections agency **************Business Response

On my first orthodontist consultation with ***** ****** I was not given the numerical range to know if my child qualified for medical to cover his braces. I had an appointment today and ask to see the doctor notes and to know what was his score and why he didn't qualify. The copies I was given did not even have my son name on it just the last part was filled out as if she had done it her self that moment when I ask for a copy. My other concerns was that I want to be in the room with my son when he's receiving treatment I was told I could not do to COVID and HIPPA I do not feel comfortable leaving my underage child in a room with a stranger I understand some are doctor but as he's parent I have the right to be there. When I ask to speak to the doctor because I wanted to know what had been done to my child she proceeded to ask me why was I upset that I need to understand there is no room for me to be in there with my child. When I ask if I could change dental office she said I had to pay in full in order to transfer after I pay I can transfer. I don't have over 5gran to pay in full because the braces are 5800. My child is not seeing a private dentist so I don't see why I can continue to pay but in another dental office. Also as I mentioned she said I could not be in there with my son due to HIPPA why when I was speaking to the doctor about the situation she was standing at the door way and 2 other nurses pass by and stood at the door to hear what the doctor and I was talking about apparently she doesn't know what HIPPA is she just want to put it out there without knowing, those two nurses had nothing to do with my son care they should not had been in the door way listening gossiping neither did she I was done taking to her I just wanted to know what procedure was done today and she's no near of being the doctor who treat it my son. ***** ****** was very unprofessional asking me why was I upset and complaining if she was doing me a favor by providing me with copies.Initial Complaint

Dentist recommended to have a partial *********************** They took the mold and was sent to the lab. When the partial was ready, it did not fit, was sent back to the lab to get it adjusted. It was sent back several times and it wouldn't fit. The last time it came back the doctor (Dentist) ****** tried to make some additional adjustments with a manual tool and still did not fit, it would hurt my gum.
The office agreed to reimburse $245.00 for the partial office manager (***) on 12/2021 follow up on my reimbursement, she mentioned that she will follow up with corporate. 2/2022 went back and *** was no longer there. Then******** was the new manager asked her what was the status of my reimbursement. Two months later******** was o longer there. Now there is a new manager ******, the same they just claimed the work was done. The partial was made, but it never fit right and the Dentist / doctor knows. All I'm asking is reimbursement for the partial. The dentist and the Lab need to take responsibility fro their work.Initial Complaint

On February 5, 2022, I went to West Coast Dental ****************************** to receive my cleaning and exam. They recommended a night guard because I was grinding my teeth and a cleaner fluid for my gums.
I asked how much will it cost and they said $300 total. I asked for a payment plan and they agreed to charge me $100 for 3 months. The manager accidentally selected the option that splits it in half, instead of thirds, and my card was charged $150. She apologized and said she could run the card again for the $100 (1 of 3 payments) and refund the $150, even though it would take a few days to receive. I said okay and received the refund. 3 total payments of $100 were charged over 3 months and I figured we were good.
That card reached its expiration date and I start getting texts that their collections department was after me for $300. I called and said I already paid it and they said no, another $300, that my total had been $600.
During that office visit, they had me sign a tiny electronic pad with a signature box- but never showed or sent me a receipt or itemized invoice. I've been calling and asking for one and all they've done is email me a document that shows a payment plan of 6 payments of $100, which I never agreed to, and this was only sent months after my visit. They're trying to make it look like that's what I knowingly signed but I certainly didn't. I've been calling and they keep saying the manager is busy or gone but she never calls me back. I then called and left a message for the Regional Manager and was told they'd call me back but haven't.
I now received a letter from Direct Credit Control debt collections and it says what's owed is accruing interest! So now the balance is $309.86
This needs to be canceled and people need to be warned. It's a scam. I'm reading reviews online and cannot believe they continue getting away with this. They should be shut down for taking advantage of low income people. Absurd. Please help us, thx!Business Response
