This is the biggest scam I've run into in quite a while. You register on their app or website and choose to set up a self guided tour. The only option they give you when you go through their step by step process is to pay a $12.00 fee to set up a viewing. If you dig deeper (not hidden, but certainly not intuitive), you can find cheaper options, BUT STILL, WHY AM I PAYING YOU TO VIEW A PROPERTY AT ALL? The answer? Well, a customer service *** (who are all overseas) let me know that so many people were scamming them by copying keys that they needed to create a "security process" to verify the person viewing the home. So, of course, they pass this off onto the consumer for a problem WITH THEIR SYSTEM. What a bunch of a*holes. So, let's recap.Rently creates a system in which they eliminate your ability to interact with a human being, so you can't ask questions up front. Their system is ****, so they implement a security system, and rather than owning their own BS, they pass this cost off onto the consumer. They use overseas customer ***s to further lower their cost. This business is such a f*ing scam. Hate this company with a passion. Enjoy.

Never in a million years will I pay to view a rental property. You say it's a service fee for security check. However, there are other rental management companies that have figured out how to do this without charging the possible renter. What security do I have after being forced to agree to you sending me messages and then in putting my credit card information. Potential homeowners should re consider when choosing this company to manage their property for several reasons.

This company is a scam and I dont understand why they are still in business. I purchased the unlimited viewing package to only be told after 2 weeks that my account was paused do to me doing rapid views but is that not what unlimited is for. People purchases the unlimited for it to not be just that and I couldnt get any information or how many is to many viewing with and unlimited account. Now my house hunting has been at a stand still and I have less than 30 days to find a home, I was also advised to make an account through a family member or someone because my account be unpaused so basically I wasted money on what was suppose to be unlimited viewing. Please dont waste your money. I wish I would have looked up reviews before hand but this was my second year using them. Im am very unpset with this process cause I have to move asap

We understand how important uninterrupted access is during a home search and are sorry for any frustration caused. While our unlimited plan allows broad access, your account was paused due to an unusual viewing pattern, not the number of homes viewed. These safeguards are in place to protect self guided tours property access as well as resident and manager safety.

We appreciate your feedback and encourage you to contact our support team ********************************** so we can review your case and assist with further details.

Absolute scam.Charging every single prospective renter to view properties? They'll say it helps do security checks - but then why isn't it a one-time fee? The house I just checked on sent me to Rently who wanted $4.99 to view 3 houses or $11.99/month for unlimited viewing. You wouldn't need to recheck for every viewing, and if the $4.99 covered it once, why $11.99 per month? If 100 people come view the house, Rently has made at least $500 from that listing if not more, and that's before anyone has even filled out an application. This should be criminal.

      Hello,

Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding the viewing fees. We understand how the initial cost might seem unexpected, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify the pricing for Rently, which is not a scam.

The fees are structured as follows:
Basic: $1.99 for 3 tours over 30 days.
Recommended: $2.99 for 10 tours over 30 days.
Premium: $4.99 for unlimited tours over 60 days.

These fees cover the necessary security verifications that protect both our properties and prospective renters, while providing convenient self-guided access. As outlined on Rently's website: *********************************************************************************************************************************, the cost per viewing can become quite low. For example, if you were to take advantage of the Premium plan and tour 15 homes for $4.99, the cost would average out to just about 33 cents per home. This demonstrates the potential value for those looking at multiple properties.

The $11.99 you referenced is for the optional "Verified Renter" program. This is a separate service that offers a higher level of security and credit pre-verification. This can actually save you money in the long run by matching you with suitable properties and potentially reducing the number of application fees. Once verified properties that match you best are curated for you which can help expedite your search. Furthermore, property managers often tend to view applications from pre-qualified prospects first, which can be a significant advantage of the "Verified Renter" status. You can learn more about this program here:

      ****************************************************************************************************

Upgrading to the "Verified Renter" program from one of the standard touring packages involves a reduced additional cost. $11.99 is simply the price if you choose to start out as a Verified Renter.

For those who prefer not to use Rently's self-guided tour option and its associated fee, we recommend contacting the Property Manager directly for the specific home(s) you are interested in viewing to inquire about alternative arrangements.

For any further questions or clarifications regarding Rently's service, please don't hesitate to reach out to their support team directly at ******************************** or ************. They are best equipped to address specific billing inquiries.

Very poorly made software. It couldn't access my phone's camera (nothing fancy, just a normal ****** Pixel), so I had to switch over to the laptop to verify my identity. Why? Unclear. I can take a guess, of course, but they never say why they need pictures of you and your ID, they just start asking for it.After getting through the tech troubles and providing my information, that's when they inform you they also want your credit card so they can charge you for... something. The ability to tour a house, I guess? Doesn't the property management company already pay you? It's like getting charged to walk into Target and look around. Also, you can't register for their site and proceed unless you check the box that agrees to receiving promotional texts. So I can look forward to receiving pointless spam texts in the near future.Rently is useful for one thing, though. It's a sure sign to stay away from any ********** that uses it.

Paid $2 to tour a home and the day of said tour the home was off market. It's stupid to pay for a self guided tour as it is but it seems like shady business practices.

      Rently.com

      Date: 03/25/2025

      Hello ******,

The fee that you pay is used to provide the security check that allows property managers to safely trust authorizing a self guided tour vs. having to do a scheduled in-person tour.

We definitely understand the frustration of finding out that this home was off market on the day of your tour.

Rently relies on the property managers that list these homes to ensure leased homes are removed from showings as soon as a new lease is signed. This is not a usual situation, however as the rental market moves quickly this does happen on occasion. We will bring this instance to the property managers as an example of customer experience improvements that can be made.

We hope that you have been able to tour other potential homes and are able to find an ideal home that suits your needs. Should you need any assistance or have other questions, feel free to contact us at ******************************** or calls us at ************.

We appreciate your business and hope to serve you in the future.

      Kind regards,

      The Rently Team
