    I had an annual subscription for several years with LegalZoom for a registered agent for a company that is no longer in business. This amount was $299 a year through 2024. This year, the amount increased to $499, a 40% increase, without any prior authorization, only an email invoice that went to my junk folder. When my bank called to report this $499 charge as possible fraud, I immediately called LegalZoom and was told that this was the new price for a registered agent through LegalZoom, which is a service that would be conducted over the next 12 months. When I asked to cancel the registered agent subscription within days of the fee being charged to my account and receive a refund since I would not be using the service, LegalZoom refused, saying that I needed to give them proof of a different registered agent hired by a third party in order to cancel their services and that a refund wasn't possible regardless of if I acquired a new registered agent elsewhere. After speaking to a manager, they agreed to refund the extra $200, but only if I paid for a third party registered agent first or dissolved the **** I elected to dissolve the *** in order to receive a partial refund and discontinue my financial relationship with LegalZoom. I have just paid $300 for a future service that was not and will not be rendered by LegalZoom or its affiliates.

    I paid LegalZoom $403.95 on July 2nd, 2024 for Standard Foreign Qualification Order #******** LegalZoom failed to deliver the service as expected, and when I contacted them for a refund, they refused, citing company policy even though I reached out in good faith.I have made multiple requests by phone and email, and I have documentation of my attempts. I believe this is unfair business practice and am requesting a full refund of $403.95.If LegalZoom declines to resolve this through the BBB, I will pursue complaints through the ******* and California Attorney General, and consider filing a small-claims case.

    A few days ago I purchased the Standard Dissolution (order ********) they at this point refuse to process the order; I have sent all documents needs multiple times and keep receiving an email telling me it cant be processed. I feel like they are only doing this to renew my subscription next week with them before action will be taken, I paid for everything and would like their services I paid for, rendered.

    I was using registered agent service through legal zoom. My business entity, *************************, registered in the state of ******* was disbanded. Unknown to me, my credit card statement showed a renewal for registered agent services from legal zoom on June 8th for $499 for 1 year. I check my statement once per month. Upon becoming aware of this i called to cancel the service immediately since the entity no longer exists and I do not require a registered agent. Contrary to their stated guarantee posted on the website of 60 days purchase money back, my request was rejected. I am being forced to pay for a service for 1 year, for a business entity that no longer exists, with my personal credit card that was on file. There was no warning, no communication from legal zoom of this charge, no receipt either. Not considering renewals as purchases to get around honoring their 60 day refund policy is highly unethical. This is registered agent service, a passive way to show that a company is operating in another state, its passive, there is no financial burden to legal zoom for my cancelation, where there is great financial burden to myself.

    I hired LegalZoom in January 2025 to file an amendment for ***************. They claimed the amendment was submitted to the state on March 24, 2025. However, as of June 24, 2025, there is still no record of this filing in the official Maryland **** business entity system, which publicly displays all processed documents.Over the last five months, Ive followed up multiple times and received nothing but generic, scripted responses and internal record editsbut no actual proof of submission. LegalZoom has failed to provide an SDAT filing receipt, confirmation, or any evidence that the amendment was properly filed. I contacted **** directly and they confirmed no such amendment exists in their system.Despite escalation, LegalZoom has refused to refile the amendment with expedited service or issue a refund. Their latest excuse is that once something is submitted, no refund is possibleeven though they cannot verify any submission took place.This has caused ongoing disruption to my business and delayed critical administrative updates. I am requesting a full refund for the amendment service, which LegalZoom has clearly failed to deliver.

    Thanks for the update, but I need to be very clear:
    If the amendment was truly submitted to the Maryland **** on March 24, 2025, it would be visible in the public filing history by noweven if still pending. Ive checked directly on ****'s website, and nothing shows up after my original Articles of Organization dated 2/26/2024.
    This strongly suggests the filing was either never submitted properly or was rejected/lost without follow-up.
    Given that Maryland states 68 weeks max for processing (and we are now at 3+ months), this is well beyond a reasonable wait. I now need:
    The actual confirmation of filing from **** not internal notes, but state-submitted proof.
    A written explanation for why nothing shows in the public record.
    A commitment to either:
    Refile the amendment today via expedited service, or
    Provide a full refund and release the documents to me so I can file them myself.
    I appreciate your efforts, but this delay has affected my business operations. Please escalate this immediately and provide a resolution within 24 hours.

    You stated that the order was submitted to the state on March 24, and that Marylands processing time is 31 business days. However, that timeline has already passed:
    March 24 + 31 business days puts the expected completion date at approximately May 8, 2025
    Today is June 24, 2025 thats over 60 business days since your claimed submission
    This clearly exceeds the ********************************** & Taxations (****) official guidance, which states:
    Standard processing time: 46 weeks (approximately 2030 business days)
    Maximum processing time: 68 weeks (3040 business days)
    Expedited service: 7 business days with $50 fee
    Additionally, if the amendment had actually been submitted, it would already appear in ****s public Business Entity Search system. Maryland typically reflects submitted filings within 10 business days of processing even if still pending.
    Youve also failed to provide:
    An official **** receipt or confirmation
    A submission tracking ID
    Any correspondence or proof that the state received the amendment
    In short:
    Your timeline is invalid, your filing claim is unverified, and your refusal to refund based on an unproven submission is unacceptable.
    At this point, I am repeating my request one final time:
    Either provide verifiable proof of filing (receipt, confirmation, or record),

    Youve now revised the timeline a third time from 31 business days, to within **** processing time, to now claiming 1014 weeks for mailed submissions.
    Let me be clear:
    Maryland **** officially states standard processing is 46 weeks, and up to 8 weeks max
    Even under a worst-case delay, 13 weeks with no filing visible in ****s system is not normal
    Youve still provided zero actual proof that this was submitted:
    No **** or mail tracking
    No **** acknowledgment or file number
    No scan of the mailed transmittal
    Saying please allow one more week is not a resolution its a delay tactic.
    This has now gone on for over five months since I hired LegalZoom and 13 weeks since you claim it was mailed. If this was truly submitted on March 24, there would be some traceable proof by now. There is none.
    You now have two final options:
    File the amendment again with expedited processing today and provide proof
    Issue a full refund
    If I do not receive confirmation of either action within 24 hours, I will:
    File the amendment myself
    Finalize my complaints with the Maryland Attorney General and BBB

    Your team needs to provide the actual documentation right now not after follow-up, not sometime later, but during this live chat session. I am not ending this chat until one of two things happens:
    I receive the official filing confirmation (**** receipt, tracking ID, or submission proof)
    OR
    LegalZoom agrees to re-file the amendment today with expedited service at your expense

    You cannot provide a tracking number during this chat
    You cannot produce a filing receipt
    You cannot show **** acknowledgment
    You are refusing to resubmit the amendment
    You are refusing a refund despite providing no proof of service delivery
    This is the textbook definition of a failed service and deceptive business conduct.
    So heres whats happening now:
    I am filing the amendment myself today through Maryland ****
    I am escalating my BBB complaint with full documentation
    I am filing a formal complaint with the Maryland Attorney General for failure to deliver a paid state filing
    I will post a detailed public review on Trustpilot, ******, and Reddit outlining this experience
    You had multiple chances to fix this. You chose to stall, lie, and insult my intelligence. Youll now deal with the consequences.

    Youve now repeated the same line multiple times without delivering what Ive asked for.
    To be crystal clear:
    You have not provided a tracking number
    You have not provided **** confirmation or evidence of receipt
    You are refusing to re-file or refund despite failing to prove submission
    Telling me the state will update when completed is not a response its a deflection, especially when no record of the filing exists after 13+ weeks, and you cant show proof it was ever received.
    This has officially crossed into non-performance and misrepresentation.
    I will now:
    File the amendment myself through Maryland ****
    Escalate my BBB complaint with a full summary
    File a formal complaint with the Maryland Attorney General
    Post a public review detailing this experience so others are warned

    I apologize for repeating myself, but these are the only options available to me. 1st, our team is currently working on obtaining the tracking number for your request. Rest assured, we will be able to provide it to you at any time once I receive it. Secondly, the changes to your business can only be implemented once the amendment order is completed by the state. Lastly, we are unable to refile the order today as it has already been submitted. I hope you understand that I am doing my best to assist you.

    I am trying to get a refund on a subscription I though was cancelled. It is impossible to get someone on the phone with customer service, I've been on hold for 2 hours and hung up on. I was told this subscription was canceled last year and they continue to bill me despite.

    I signed up for filing my business ONLY - I combed through the wording to make sure I wasn't signing up for anything else. I then submitted the payment for my business filing, and was charged 3x more than it said it would, and signed me up for a PAID subscription I did not want or need.I immediately called Legal Zoom's customer service, who told me they can't remove my debit card information from their system, and they can't cancel the subscription until next July. They said they took it off autopay, so the subscription would lapse, but they can't totally take my card out of their system.Not it's almost that time, and I received and email letting me know they'd be auto-drafting my account AGAIN for the subscription I don't want. Then I contacted support who told me they can't cancel it, but that I received that email and then took it off auto-pay myself - which is completely untrue.I ended up threatening legal action - and all the sudden, they can cancel my subscription.I will be watching my account like a hawk in July because I don't believe they won't come up with some other dumb reason to charge me.This is false advertising, bait-and-switch - this is FRAUD. And I just don't want anyone else to have this happen to them too.

    How can BBB be considered reliable when you give this company an A+ rating? Do you not read the information on the internet? This companys business practices have been a continued source of issues for small business. LEGAL ZOOM IS A SCAM. 2,years ago I contacted customer service to cancel, they just charged my credit card for 2 years for a registered agent in **. I tried contacting them again today with no joy.Bbb has received over 1400 complaints, the majority are the same as mine.
