I filed income tax return married filing jointly with my deceased spouse. I used TurboTax assistance and consulted with specialist to make sure I would not have an issue. I received my state refund with no issues. My federal refund was also supposed to be direct deposited but for some reason was unable to be processed. Intuit sent me a check minus fees in my deceased spouses name only. I am unable to cash my refund. I have contacted turbo tax customer service 11 times and have received no answer on how to get my refund check changed with my name on the check. The estate is closed and his name is not on any bank account.Business Response

On 4/1/25 I subscribed to Quickbooks Online Simple Start. I had difficulty migrating my data and so contacted support on 4/1/25 and then again on 4/4/25. I was told I needed to upgrade my subscription to Advanced in order to migrate my data. I was reassured that I could downgrade after migrating my data from Quickbooks Desktop. So, I went ahead and upgraded to advanced. I was then able to migrate my data. But after migration,I was told couldn't downgrade due to the nature of my data and that the migration was irreversible rending my account locked into the advanced level. I didn't want an advanced subscription and could not afford to keep an advanced subscription. I requested to ****** my subscription and requested a refund. the billing was complicated due to the changing of subscriptions but in the end I paid $479.39 and was refunded $382.54. The company has refused to refund the $96.85 for the advanced subscription I never used.Business Response

I was overcharged and denied refund/adjustment even though I have proof. I was filing my federal tax return using TurboTax on May 8th, 2025. Just before completing, the webpage states there are 3 steps left before they file. Step 1 is payment for their product/service, and it showed my subtotal to be $167.20 (before sales tax). I entered my credit card information and submitted and saved the order confirmation page to my computer. The order confirmation page includes the order date, order #, last 4 digits of my credit card used, my billing address, and subtotal of $167.20. I clicked "Continue" to move on to Step 2 but I noticed that above in Step 1 it had changed my PAID subtotal amount to $188.10 with the exact same order #. I took a screen shot of this page and immediately called customer service to alert them that they overcharged me AFTER I had submitted my credit card info and paid. The service *** I spoke to had to get his supervisor to review my issue and he said he could see where the price changed on me. He then emailed me a "Refund Request Link" where I could briefly explain the issue and submit for review. I then completed step 2 and 3 to file my taxes and awaited a response. The response email I received from TurboTax **************** stated that in accordance with their refund policy, they are UNABLE to provide a refund. Increasing a price AFTER submission of credit card information is a deceptive business practice. I had no option to stop payment at this point. At first I thought this was just a software glitch, but after seeing the lack of accountability or willingness to make things right, I feel like the victim of a bait-and-switch pricing issue. The final total after 6.25% sales tax came to $200.51. The total (from the initial price) should have been $177.65 after the 6.25% sales tax. This is a difference of $22.86.Business Response

I am requesting a refund of $342 for TurboTax services purchased and used between March 1 and April 7, 2025. I filed my return on March 16, 2025, using the TurboTax MAX ******** Bundle, which included Live ******** support. Despite accurately reporting my marital status, my return was filed incorrectly as Single instead of Married Filing Separately. When my spouse discovered this error during his own filing, I attempted to amend my return and sought help through TurboTax Live Assist on April 7. The assigned expert was unfamiliar with basic federal requirements for MFS filers in community property states like Californiaspecifically IRS Form 8958, which he incorrectly claimed was optional. The expert was unprofessional, dismissive, and offered no meaningful help, ultimately directing us to a desktop product he could not explain. TurboTax promised expert assistance, unlimited support, and a final expert review to ensure accuracyall of which I did not receive. As of this filing, the company has made no attempt to resolve the issue or issue a refund. I had to hire a *** at my own expense to correct the filing before the deadline. I am therefore requesting a full refund due to the failure to deliver the services advertised.Business Response

I used TurboTax Live Assisted to file my 2024 taxes and paid $201.38 for their expert support and accuracy guarantees. I uploaded my Form 1095-A (ACA health insurance), which is required by the ***. Despite this, TurboTax failed to include the form correctly in my return.I was later contacted by the *** stating that the 1095-A was missing. I had to manually correct the error myself something the service was paid to ensure wouldnt happen.I requested a refund under TurboTaxs satisfaction and accuracy guarantees. My request was denied without a proper investigation. Im seeking a refund due to the failure of the product to deliver what was promised accurate, expert-reviewed tax filing and protection from issues like this.Supporting documentation has been attached: proof of upload, receipt, IRS notice, refund denial, and TurboTax's own service guarantees.Business Response

I am requesting a refund of $203 for TurboTax Premium because of two serious issues:(1) TurboTaxs system caused my return to be filed incorrectly, and (2) I was misled into paying for Premium despite their advertising that simple returns are free.I am a full-time college student, and this was my first time ever filing taxes. I only had two forms:A 1099-*** for $1,018 from working as a poll worker for my local county A 1099-INT for $371.94 in savings interest These are simple income sources I had no deductions, no dependents, and no complex financial situations. However, TurboTax automatically treated me as self-employed, filed Schedule C and SE, and caused me to pay $144 in self-employment tax, even though *** rules clearly state that poll worker income under $2,000 is not considered self-employment income and should not be taxed that way (forms have been attached).I only realized this after filing, when I reviewed my return and did my own research. I had trusted TurboTax to guide me correctly, especially as a first-time filer, because their platform claims to walk users through the process and ensure an accurate return. On top of that, I was also automatically upgraded to TurboTax Premium and charged $203, despite TurboTax promoting free filing for simple returns like mine. I was not clearly informed of the upgrade, and only saw the charge at the end of the process at which point I had no choice but to pay because the tax filing deadline was approaching and I needed to file on time.I opened two separate support cases and received generic, copy-paste replies both times that did not address the actual issue. Neither response acknowledged that the return was filed incorrectly or that I had been unfairly charged. I will attach screenshots of both responses as evidence.I am requesting a full refund of the $203 charge, due to the filing error caused by their software and the misleading upgrade experience.Business Response

I had filed my taxes for free, however subject to the state tax filing fee, which I had taken out of my federal tax return from the year prior. My federal refund was $304 this year, and the tax firm group TurboTax uses took well over half of my federal refund for processing fees incurred that were not disclosed to me at any point in time while I was completing my taxes. As far as I'm concerned, they are illegally withholding my money under the guise of "Banking Fees."Business Response

I have filed with Turbotax for years. This year, I did so again. I didn't qualify for the free version and was told by the program that it would cost me $34.99 to complete and file my federal taxes due to my specific tax situation (which it explained). I did not go outside of these parameters, but when I almost finished, the program suddenly said I was going to be charged $71.10, basically double!! Since I was so close to finishing, and didn't want to have to spend more time going to another program, I paid that regardless and requested a refund, which I was confident would be granted, but was denied! TurboTax said because the product was "used".This is a bait and switch tactic that is really brazen and needs to be stopped! When people like me call them on it they should for sure refund the difference!! (about $35).I'm requesting my $35 back!!Business Response
