I was initially contacted by this group with an indication that they were representing GoDaddy. When I realized that their affiliation was not there, I demanded a refund. I think the common denominator is GoDaddy with all these complaints. They most definitely fed me false information about who they were and I felt scammed out of the fee I paid.

I called ******** back in 2021 in regards to not renew my SSL certificate found better rate some where else. I called 1-2 weeks before renewal. The person I talked to said no problem they would not charge my credit card. Found out months later that they still went ahead and charged it and here we are 2023 and they charged it again on 4/20/23. Been calling them for a week and can't get no one on the phone.

This incident occurred 3/3/23 at 2:00pm EST. I was contacted by **** at ******** . He misrepresented himself claiming to be with my website domain host *******. He stated that the *** security certificate had expired on our website and as a result it was shut down. Before I returned his call I verified this to be true. When speaking with him, I asked how could this have happened because I have auto renew set up. He said that the card on file was no longer active and its over 3 years old. I remembered that I did have to cancel our credit card and get a new one. So it seemed credible. I provided the updated card info and was billed $319 for 5 years. He said it would take a couple of hours to resolve and that he'd be contacting me ahortly-he never did. I never received his promised receipt via email either nor was any work done. I don't know how he was able to disable my website. My site builder has since fixed the issue. She too doesn't know how he accomplished this. This guy is a thief who needs to be investigated and arrested.

I was charged $199 to renew an SSL certificate on 12/27/22. I have all my website products through Go Daddy and I do not recognize nor did I authorize this charge. I called SSLGURU and left a voice mail explaining the situation and left my name and number and charge details. Nobody at SSLGURU called me back. I then advised them that if I don't hear back, I will dispute the charge with the credit card company. No response. I disputed the charge with **** and they investigated and were provided what looks like a made-up receipt. Amex then reinstated the charge because they say if the company provides any documentation back, they reinstate it. I again disputed the charge with **** and they are investigating again. The next step is for me to get a new card number and their fraud department will do a more thorough fraud investigation but I'd rather not get a new card. I didn't authorize this and would like a refund from SSLGURU (and their website no longer seems to work).

Thanks for getting in contact with us about this issue. We apologize for any confusion and want to make sure this gets taken care of properly. Please close out this complaint so that we can process the refund back to you

I am rejecting this response because:

I do not know this company or maybe was duped the year before.  I did not receive any service for the $199 charge.  My SSL is done through Go Daddy.  I called the company and left a message and nobody returned my call so it was impossible to put a complaint into their own system.

I've also notified my credit card company to the fraud, cancelled my card and they Amex will be doing their own investigation into this sham company.

SSLGURU has not responded to any of my many attempts to contact them for a refund for a charge in mid Dec for a product renewing in March. I do not wish to renew this SSL certificate. They keep closing my support tickets without comment. They do not answer their phone when I call. They do not return my phone messages, even through their recording promises a return call within 2 days. This has been going on for about a month. I have gotten a refund from my credit card company, but they say they can not keep ******** from charging me again in the future and I am not able to turn off their autorenew setting from the options available to me on their website. It is a frustrating situation. Once my current SSL certificate expire, I never want anything to do with them ever again.

      Hi *******,

We apologize for your experience and definitely don't want any of our client's experiences to be negative. There may have been a mistake on our end in relaying your voicemail to the correct person at some point or it was just lost in everything, and for this we apologize. We did receive the dispute in which was accepted and the money was returned back to you. We have made sure to fully close out your account and cancel any future renewals so that you will not be charged again.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me, if it is indeed fully true.

As far as I can tell, what they say is true, although I received an alarming voice mail from someone claiming to be from SSLGuru a couple weeks ago saying that I was being charged for a renewal, but I can't tell that that is true.  It seems like one more instance of their bad business practices  I hope my renewals have been cancelled, as have been stated in SSLGuru response. I find the customer portal on their website for monitoring my SSL certificates that have not expired yet, to be confusing, in reguards to whether renewals have been cancelled.

Also, in their response they do not appologize for the many support tickets I submitted through my account on their website that they never responded to.  It wasn't ********* phone messages that they never responded to.  One or two messages getting lost or misforwarded is one thing, but contacting them 10 or more times over the course of several weeks only to have them respond when I complained to the Better Business Bureau, does not give me much faith in them.

I went to get gas at your location on 25th off the expressway. I went into the gas station to pay for my gas as well as other items. The guy behind the register was having a bad night and wasn't acting as a professional. He asked me for ID, and I left it in the car, he then stated that I needed to find another gas station. I did advise that I was on E and would not make it to another gas station. I asked for his manager, and he stated that he was the manager. I asked for his manager, and he gave me customer service. I asked him for his name, and he stated Mr. ********* I asked for his first name, and he said he doesn't give it out. He then proceeded to state that he was about to call the police on me. I asked him in what regard, and I stated why would you call the police, and I am just trying to get gas, I also mention that I am a Black male and this situation with the police can turn left. At that point I decided to leave. I also have a photo of the employee; I can send once someone contacts me.

I was cold called by "*******" approximately Sept 14th, 2022. He stated our website SSL certificate was expired and needed to be renewed and asked for our GoDaddy login and password to fix the issue. I thankfully did not give him this information as this company is clearly not trustworthy. I had never done any business with them before but he made it sound like he was affiliated with GoDaddy so I listened to him. I told him I needed to talk to our IT personnel about the issue first, but would consider using their service if needed. Later that day, my IT person fixed the certificate issue on our website, which was a glitch and in fact, NOT an expired SSL certificate. It does not expire until mid 2023. Our issue was fixed without requiring any help and I moved on with our business. Months later I surprisingly found a charge for $350 CAD on our credit card from ********. I called them and they made me jump through a bunch of hoops to request a refund and in the end denied it because it was past their 30 day policy. I stated that since no service was performed, and thus I did not anticipate a charge (and they did not have my permission to charge my credit card), they should issue a refund without any issue. They denied me again and hid behind their ************************************************************************* with any type of service whatsoever. I just hope I can help other individuals or small businesses avoid this predatory and opportunistic company that has very shady "business practices"

SSL Guru keeps contacting our company saying that our SSL certificate needs to be renewed before it expires, but we have never done business with this company and it is an obvious scam to try and switch our existing SSL certificate over to them from our existing service provider. I have contacted them twice asking them to stop but they keep contacting different staff with the same request.
