This company attempted to defraud me of money as well, for services that were never rendered. I signed up for a free trial which they tried to leverage into a paid monthly fee.

    Hi *******,

Thank you for your time today and for letting us clarify the monthly subscription cost of our service, which was not a component of our limited time offer to waive your signup fee. Were so glad that you were able to take advantage of this promotion and that youve seen such a significant change to your credit already, simply by adding your rent history to your credit report!  We hope your credit continues to thrive as we continue to report your rent each month.

For the past 8 months, I have reported to Rent Reporters my current address and the contact address of my landlord several times each month. For the past 8 months, they continue to take monies from my bank account and make zero effort to update my address, contact my landlord, nor perform any of the services they are paid to do. I am tired of repeating myself over and over, for the past 5 months I have asked them to respond, to either rectify the issue or refund me and they continue to ignore me month after month. I want all of my monies refunded where they have failed to do the work they were paid to do.

They have scammed me out my $95! This company is a complete rip off. They are a credit builder program but refuse to report my account to credit bureaus and also refuses to refund me. They are stating they can't verify my ssn, so why not refund me if you can't complete the service. I basically paid $95 fir an application? How are you charging a service before completing the service and also refusing to refund for not being able to complete the service? How can you keep a payment on a service that was never rendered. They cancelled my account with ease but are refunding to refund me. It's been over a month with no resolution and I've reached out multiple times. I seek a full refund on services.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/12/15) */ *******, Thank you for your feedback. We were unable to complete our verification of your account details and reached out to you for help with obtaining the additional information required by the credit bureaus, to report your rent payments. Your request for a refund falls outside of our terms of use HERE however, we were happy to make an exception and issued a full refund of $94.95 on November 30, 2022. If we can be of assistance in future, please let us know. Per our terms: RentReporters offers Monthly and Annual subscriptions. The Monthly subscription has an initial and recurring payment charge each month. The subscription will be created, and the initial charge posted, on the day that your initial rent history is ready to be reported to a credit bureau, and the subscription will auto-renew every month on that date going forward. The Annual subscription cover a period of 12 months, will be created and charged on the day you sign up for service, and will auto-renew on the anniversary each year. RentReporters

I purchased the "annual subscription" because it was cheaper than paying monthly. It was never disclosed that that the subscription would auto renew, the company (hereinafter RR) NEVER sent an email saying it would auto renew, and there is no way to cancel or opt-out of auto renew on the website. So, after seeing a $95.40 charge on my credit card, I contacted the RR via chat on 10/21/22 and was given the run around. **** said I was "accidently charged 2 times for the annual fee," which was true, but that was when I initially signed up, was resolved with my credit card company, and not why I contacted them today. That was my first red flag about RR though. I kept asking **** to "please cancel" my subscription and "return money that was charged." At 3:22:37 PM, **** wrote, "I can definitely create a case to cancel your account & add that you're requesting a refund!" Then, at 3:24:22 PM, they wrote, "It takes 3-5 business days to process your request." It sounds like **** created a case, right? So, at 3:28:58 PM, I asked for a case number for my records. **** continued to provide information about why I don't qualify for a refund and where I could have found info about the auto renewal had I read the ENTIRE website. So, at 3:34:39 PM, after much back and forth, I once again asked **** to "please provide case number." At 3:35:36 PM, **** wrote, "I have to create the case." Of course, I disputed the charge with my credit card company and blocked any future charges from them. But I wanted to warn other consumers about RR undisclosed auto renew policy. And RR website does not allow you to delete payment information (only edit to add new), opt-out of auto renew or cancel a subscription, or cancel your account. The only way to get ANYTHING done is to reach out to representatives who do not seem consumer friendly. RR did report two years of rental history to Transunion, which is why I paid for the service. I want RR to issue a refund, cancel auto renew, and delete my account.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/12/15) */ ****, Thank you for your feedback. First we are so sorry about your frustrating experience around your request to cancel and obtain a refund. We certainly strive to do better on our follow through and communication and apologize that we fell short. As far as your refund, we see that an full refund was issued on October 25, 2022. Please let us know if you have not received. We also appreciate your comments regarding our annual plan and better communication around the subscription renewal. Although we do indicate at signup that auto-renew applies for this plan, we can improve on our communication around this. Please let us know if we can be of any help in future and thank you for the opportunity to serve you. RentReporters Consumer Response /* (2000, 7, 2022/12/21) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) Thank you for your response. I appreciate your commitment to improving communication. I am very organized when it comes to documenting deadlines to cancel auto renew plans. Since this auto renew was not on my calendar, I think the information, if indicated at signup, must have been inconspicuous. I hope your improvements will be completed in a timely manner so as to avoid more frustrated customers. Happy holidays!

Subscribed to Rent Reporters on Sept. 20 using a code that waived the sign up fee. On Oct. 5, I was charged $41.60 and was told that that included one third the charge of the sign up fee, which I was NOT required to pay. On Oct. 7, I did a live chat, called, put in a service report and emailed them requesting a refund AND to unsubscribe me--neither has been done to date. There is no "cancel subscription" on their website--they say to contact them. I am requesting a refund, cancellation and I do not authorize any further charges.

I signed up for rent reporters during their seasonal deal. It has been nothing but confusion and a hassle ever since. I had to follow up after the first week due to not seeing any changes or being contacted by anyone. I called on the phone, and the customer service woman I spoke with, although sweet, did not seem to have an idea of what was going on either. I also just received an email today saying I will be charged the full amount if I am not enrolled by the end of today, and yet they have no way to connect my bank. I took part in this to save money, and in hopes to purchase my home as I have no credit history, but now I worry I have made a terrible mistake..

Please reach out to us at your earliest convenience so that we can resolve any confusion regarding our promotional offer. RentReporters ********************************** Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/09/21) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I spoke on the phone with someone, and they said they couldn't assure that I would receive a refund for my money, which is the only thing I ask. I no longer want the services. I've always been afraid of taking any steps towards credit building for the fear of ruining my credit before it has even started, and this has only heightened that fear I have. I paid $50 for an extra landlord, but I received no services- so can I please get a refund? Business Response /* (4000, 11, 2022/10/10) */ Hi *******, We apologize if there was any confusion around our promotional offer. We've tried to reach you by phone and email to clarify the terms of the offer, but also to understand what we could have better to communicate our terms more clearly. We have honored your request for a full refund. Please allow 3-5 business days for the funds to be returned to your account. If we can be of any assistance in future, please let us know. We would love the opportunity to make right and to create a positive experience. RentReporters

When I rented a house back in 2015, the management company required us to sign up for rent reporting (they said it would help increase our credit score but to them, it made sure we paid our rent on time because if we didn't then it would affect it). No problem, we signed up and paid our rent on time every single month and since I never paid rent at the time, I didn't see it as a problem at all. That is until I found out it was STILL on my credit report after 7 years as an OPEN ACCOUNT!!! Fast forward to 2022, I was applying for a home loan and this showed up on my credit score as an open line of credit or loan. It said that I paid $950/month but then stopped paying when my lease ended, that my balance was 0, completely paid off but that the account was still open. No big deal, my lender said to just have them submit a letter that explained that they were not a lending company and that I didn't have an account with them. Such a super easy request and they literally would not do it. I reached out via phone call, email, chat, everything. Each time, they said that I didn't have an account with them... yeah because that was in 2015 so can ya just write a letter stating that for my lender??? Nope. They required me to submit in a photo of how it showed up in my credit score. No problem, sent that out to them and then heard nothing back from them. I couldn't even dispute it on my credit score because I was in the middle of the home loan. LUCKILY, I submitted in to my lender all the proof that I had tried to reach out to this company and my loan finally got approved (mind you, I have a credit score over 740 with great assets so literally this was the only issue with the application process). I've now disputed it on my score to get it removed so all I'm asking is for them to do the right thing and correct their mistake.

That's what I had been told when I called MULTIPLE times yet no one was willing to write that in a letter for my bank lender explaining that which was my main complaint. We're talking about something that as 7 years ago, I can't imagine that you'd still have records since I technically closed my account way back then but that was the issue, that you were still showing up on my credit report. Since we've closed on our house, I have officially disputed it and you have let them know this so I'm closing this out. I checked today and it is no longer on my credit score, you can imagine how frustrating its as to not be able to do that during a home loan application and also not getting a letter that states the above for my lender. Your customer service needs improvement and you should be more careful with peoples credit scores...

On 08/04, I went on RentReporters to learn more about the company and its services. After consideration, and chatting with a representative regarding the monthly fees, I decided against signing up. All was well, until two weeks later on 08/19, $94.95 was debited from my bank account. I had not authorized this transaction or provided any information to start these services. I sent an email on the same day explaining that this was unauthorized and requesting a refund. No response. I emailed again on 08/20, no response. I emailed again on 08/22, no response. I finally was able to reach someone by phone on 08/23, in which I was told that because there were no questions answered, no subscription was showing on account and services had not even started that a refund request would be sent to ******* and in 2 business days, I would receive a refund confirmation email. I called on 08/25 since there was no further communications and was told the request had not been processed yet and to wait an additional day. Today, 08/26, I received an email stating that the subscription has been cancelled however I am not eligible for a refund. I am requesting a refund for this unauthorized transaction immediately. I have not been able to reach anyone by phone, and they have proven to not respond to emails. Pretty disappointing that a service that advertises to help people are scamming and taking funds out of people's accounts unethically. I have attached all the emails sent that were never responded to. Poor customer service. No communication.
