I used Marble Law in 2022 to write up paperwork in a child custody case. I paid the initial consultation fee along with $350 after for the motion and paperwork. After that was emailed to me I informed them I could handle this in court by myself. They told me my case was ready to do alone and I would only be charged of they came to court for me. At no time was this $2800 charge discussed with me, and I never signed anything for it. They never represented me in court ever. But they sent a $3200 debt to ******************** and it's ruined my credit report and prevented me from buying a car, an apartment and affordable car insurance. I want this corrected from my credit report immediately and the debt collector informed before I seek legal action and compensation for what this has already done to me.

    Dear ******,

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We understand how frustrating financial and credit issues can be, and we take this matter seriously. Our records show that you agreed to and signed for legal services on 1/20/2023, which included the preparation and drafting of your petition by your assigned legal team. While you later chose not to move forward with representation, the initial service was fulfilled as agreed.

Unfortunately, after multiple unsuccessful attempts to reach you via phone, email, and a letter sent by mail, we proceeded with withdrawal due to non-communication. As a result, the outstanding balance remains valid.

Were sorry to hear of the impact this has had and encourage you to contact our Client Experience Team if youd like to discuss your account or review available documentation further.

I I retained the services of Marble with the expectations of receiving legal counsel and representation to support the custody case. Unfortunately I did not receive the counsel or the support that I was promised. Despite my attempts to communicate. The case is now closed and the children are living somewhere else. I am now in debt, This matter has had a profound impact on my life and I hope we can reach a fair and reasonable resolution.

    Dear *****,

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We understand this has been a difficult process, and we want to acknowledge the frustration youve expressed.

This matter has been escalated and thoroughly reviewed by both our leadership team and the managing attorney assigned to your case. Our records show that the refund for the unused mediation servicetotaling $2,340was addressed and resolved by our finance team manager. We recognize your dissatisfaction with the overall experience and take all feedback seriously. While we regret that your expectations were not met, we have fulfilled the obligations outlined in your signed agreement, including issuing the applicable refund. At this time, there are no further refund options available.

I am filing this complaint to formally report negligent and unethical conduct by Marble Law, resulting in financial harm and breach of fiduciary duty. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this matter directly, I have been met with delays, avoidance, and no resolution.Detailed Complaint:1.Failure to *************************** I retained Marble Law in October of 2024 for legal representation regarding my divorce. We agreed on specific deliverables and payment terms, which are outlined in our signed engagement agreement.2.Negligent Handling and Lack of Communication Throughout the engagement, the firm failed to meet critical deadlines, missed communications with opposing counsel/court, and did not keep me updated despite my repeated outreach via phone and email. This lack of diligence has materially impacted my case and placed me in a worse legal and financial position than before I engaged the firm.3.Funds Owed and Unreturned Retainer I paid multiple fees and as of today, a portion of those funds remains unaccounted for despite limited or no work product delivered. I have formally requested an itemized billing and refund of the unused portion several times, but I have received no response or reimbursement.4.Breach of Professional and Ethical Obligations I believe the firms conduct constitutes a breach of its ethical responsibilities under the State Bar guidelines, including failure to act competently and communicate honestly. Their actions (or inactions) have caused emotional distress, financial harm, and have violated the trust inherent in a legal-client relationship.Supporting Documentation:I am happy to provide copies of the signed agreement, payment receipts, email correspondence, and any other relevant evidence upon request.

Was scammed out of 4,000$ for a service I did not need, then proceeded to use the words of the attorney against the company and what the attorney told me was that I didnt need to pay for any of the services they have made me pay for

    Business Response

    Dear ******,

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We understand how frustrating legal matters can be and appreciate the opportunity to respond and provide clarification.
When you hired our firm, we were not yet aware of the case that had already been filed by the ****************************** (***) in September 2024. Shortly after, in January 2025, we filed a new case on your behalf based on the information and goals you shared with us. Once we became aware of the *** case, your attorney took the proper legal step of filing a motion to consolidate both cases to avoid conflicting orders. This motion was signed off by the *** and approved by the judgeconfirming its necessity in your matter.

You mentioned being told that case consolidation was not needed. Its important to note that this opinion came after the legal work had already been done and approved by the court. While we respect differing legal perspectives, the initial action taken was appropriate and supported by the facts at the time.

We regret that your experience didnt meet your expectations and are always open to constructive conversations. Our goal has always been to serve your case with integrity, and the actions taken were in alignment with the information available and the legal process required.

I paid $4800 in August of 2024 for representation and conclusion of a divorce that was already 18 months old. The service promised to conclude my divorce and get the final agreement drafted and signed, as well as do a 1 day trial. No trial. No final agreement. Attorneys notified me today they were withdrawing and Marble will not answer of call me back. I have called twice, left messages twice. There is now a motion coming on Thursday for which I have no representation.

    Date: 05/09/2025

    Dear ****,

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We understand how important closure is during a divorce, and we're sorry to hear you felt unsupported. Based on our review, your assigned attorney helped reach a resolution in your case and an order was put in placeultimately avoiding the need for a trial. Because the terms of the agreement were fulfilled, the attorney appropriately withdrew after completing the scoped services.

Regarding the recent hearing you mentioned, it was not included in your original scope of work. However, we did offer additional services to support you through that stage, which you declined. We respect your decision and have also approved a courtesy discount in recognition of your concerns. Our finance team will follow up with confirmation once thats been processed. We wish you the very best moving forward.

Marble Law failed to represent me, took my money, and hurt my case. I saw an ad for Marble Law in July of 2024 while I was in the process of getting a divorce. I consulted with the Marble lawyer, who assured me he could negotiate a settlement. I had a status conference set for late August. He did NOTHING until 10 pm the night before the status conference, then he sent an email after I had gone to bed. He did not attempt negotiations for 2 month before the confrance. After that, he sent an aggressive demand letter to the opposing counsel that he did not show me. This did not result in any negotiations. He then unilaterally terminated the service contract because he decided negotiations had failed. He told me I needed a new contract to continue. After I agreed to a new contract, he was slow again. He drafted an *** that was full of errors, and by the time I got the draft my ex-wife had made a settlement offer. I asked him to negotiate with her and he told me I needed a new contract for that. He also commented on a phone call that I would be better off going to trial. A trial he would make thousands from no matter if I won or lost. If I did not agree to the new contract, he refused to do any more work. I refused the 3rd contract because I could see how they rip me off now. AVOID MARBLE, they do not work in your interest and always want a new contract and more money! I request a full refund of all services. Too bad I can never get back my time they wasted!

    Business Response

    Date: 05/01/2025

    Dear *****,

We're very sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your experience. We understand how important your case is and how frustrating it can be when the legal process doesnt go as expected.

Marble provides limited scope representation, which means services are structured in phases with clearly defined scopes of work and separate contracts. This allows clients to stay in control of both the legal direction and associated costs. That said, we understand this model may not be the right fit for everyone, especially in complex or evolving situations.

Your concerns have been taken seriously and escalated to our leadership team for further review. We also see that, due to the issues noted, an additional refund has already been approved as a resolution.

We appreciate your feedback and are continuously working to improve our communication, service delivery, and client experience. We sincerely regret that we did not meet your expectations and wish you the best moving forward.

The money I paid for these services has not been refunded!  A small credit was issued but does not make compensation for the total lack of value from Marble.  Not only did they accomplish nothing through negligence and neglect, they wasted my valuable time leaving me in a bad position.  Please refund all monies paid and owed in the future.

I never agreed that the tiny refund you unilaterally authorized addressed my concerns or concluded this matter in any way.  Only a full refund of both contracts will do that.  In thinking this experience over what stands out most is the extortion SCAM you run, where you unilaterally decide new services are needed and generate a new bill, refusing to even finish the contracts already paid for.  This practice is dishonest and reprehensible.  You are the worst kind of people defrauding people with disabilities like myself.  Save your lies, you CAN refund anything you want to, you simply chouse not to, and rip off your customers.  I will only accept a response that comes with a FULL refund.

On December 19th of 2024 I signed an agreement with Marble that they would register my separation agreement and divorce decree from ** in the state of *****. They were also suppose to file an enforcement. I paid ????? for this service. The co-counsel that marble connecting me with was....... They were impossible to get ahold of and did not return calls or update me on my case. They only register my divorce decree and never my separation agreement which was what they were suppose to be enforcing. The enforcement was done wrong 3 times, with sloppy mistakes, such as spelling my name wrong, mixing up birthdays, writing wrong numbers and information and forgetting to add important documents. When I called to complain and ask for my money back they said they would give me 10% and that they would not file the 4th attempt on the enforcement due to their mistake. I told them I did not want this deal but they told me too bad. This all took 4 months, while I was in debt and not able to pay my bills. They stole my money and did not complete on thing that I paid for. Nothing was resolved and I am now in debt with no money to fix it.

    Dear *****,

Were sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating this situation must be, especially during an already challenging time. Ensuring that your legal matters are handled correctly and respectfully is important to us.

Your concerns have been escalated to our leadership team for further review. We want to clarify that your legal team has made efforts to address the issues you raised. An amended motion was prepared with your requested changes, and your attorney informed you that it would be filed as soon as you approved the final draft. As of now, we have not received a response from you, and we encourage you to reach out directly so your attorney can proceed with filing.

We believe this is a fair and reasonable resolution under the circumstances. While a partial refund was previously offered in good faith, additional discounts are not appropriate at this stage, given the work completed and the outstanding next steps pending your confirmation.

We remain committed to resolving this matter professionally and hope to hear from you soon so your case can move forward.

Following the completion of the initial service, you expressed dissatisfaction and requested to withdraw as a client. At that time, we applied a courtesy discount to your remaining balance in an effort to address your concerns. However, as the agreed-upon service was completed, the remaining balance is still due.

    Dear *****,

Thank you for your response. While we understand your concerns, wed like to clarify that the service you agreed to was completed nearly two years ago. We appreciate your understanding and are happy to answer any further questions you may have.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 04/29/2025

At no time have I received a balance due, statement or any other correspondence from this company, only to tell me I owe money, not even a balance due.  Heard nothing from this company for ******, and now they want payment.  I want an itemized bill showing services performed, date and time. I do not deny I hired this company, but they conducted very poor business practices.  Called me that I was due in court and they were looking for me.  No prior notice, and became verbally dissatisfied when I told them I could not get to the location for an hour. Due to traffic and time of day.  I expected to receive a bill for the couple of items they performed.  Nothing for 2 years, and still no statement of account or how much is owed.  All I want is a statement of service rendered and bill

    Business Response

    Date: 07/01/2025

We are unable to provide a detailed itemized bill due to our billing not being hourly but pay per service. However, we have sent the client a breakdown of her billing and a 15% discount was applied although her agreed service was completed. We can confirm that the client was made aware of their account status, and our internal records reflect that multiple efforts were made to contact them throughout their case. The client was also made aware of the hearing date from the judge directly and was given specific court orders to follow. She was unresponsive to her legal team and did not show up to court.

Our records also indicate that the legal team fulfilled the services retained and that the delays and complications in the case stemmed primarily from the clients lack of participation and failure to comply with court orders, which significantly limited the legal teams ability to advocate effectively.

We are happy to address any additional questions the BBB may have, but at this time, we consider this matter resolved on our end.

Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
