Scripps Customer Relations does not return phone calls. I see on thread that others have the same complaint. They do not appear to be accountable to anyone. That is always bad for business.Scripps Health

Hello **********************. I am sorry to hear to that you are having difficulty with getting in touch with our Patient ********************** It does appear though that on both occasions you have called the call has been returned. The first time someone answered the phone and did not speak they only hung up after the staff member introduced themself. The second time your call was returned the Robo call blocker that is set up to screen your calls gave the message "THE NUMBER YOU CALLED HAS DECIDED NOT TO TAKE CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER AT THIS TIME. GOODBYE.." and the call was ended. I will let the Patient **************** know that you have reached out on the BBB website and have them try to contact you again using alternate number other than the one you left in message. Thank you,************Review fromkelly n

I am a safe company out on the East Coast and I have done some work for this company, I must say it is impossible to get paid. It takes seven or eight months no one ever answers the phone. They are not responsive their employee *****************************, who is apparently their bookkeeper is incredibly rude and nasty. She says unpleasant, unprofessional and rude emails. And they dont pay their vendors.Scripps Health

Hello, I am sorry to hear about the difficulties you are experiencing, however in researching our vendors we did not find your company as an entity we have done business with. I believe this was sent to Scripps *** clinics in error. Thank you,************,*** **************************Review fromJenna S

In short: Scripps Health egregiously and erroneously overbilled me for a simple and brief ** visit following a nearly resolved case of anaphylaxis. Beyond Scripps errors, they are wholly unresponsive to patient follow up and do not provide cost information required for compliance with federal regulation. What happened: I went to the Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla Emergency Room in late May 2023 out of an abundance of caution following anaphylaxis. I had successfully self-administered an EpiPen hours prior but had very subtle (not life threatening) lingering symptoms and decided to visit the ** just to play it safe. My visit in the ** was quite brief (no more than 1.5 hours from arrival in the waiting room), the team checked my vitals and confirmed I was stable, gave me some Pepcid and administered one additional EpiPen just to be safe followed by an immediate discharge.Scripps billed my insurance ~$13,500 and said I had a remaining responsibility of ~$1,300 and provided a bill with little information (the only line items were pharmacy, supplies, emergency services, and other). I spent a month working to get the detailed bill from Scripps, and immediately spotted errors, including being billed for additional EpiPens and adhesive that was not used in my care. In reviewing the bill I also wanted to compare my charges against Scripps chargemaster, but was unable to do so because the hospitals file was not made available in a machine readable format, which is out of compliance with CMS regulation. After connecting with the billing department (and receiving confirmation of these errors), Scripps took weeks to review and issue a decision on the complaint only to conclude that no changes were required to the bill. My research and careful follow through was met with a simple denial with no effort at substantiation on Scripps behalf.Scripps Health

I had a telehealth appointment with the Scripps Express Clinic. The ** that I had was extremely rude. I tried to explain that I had muscle aches and some chest pain from my cough and he immediately shut that down. He said in a condescending manner: YOU DO NOT HAVE CHEST PAIN IF YOI HAD CHEST PAIN I LEGALLY WOULD HAVE TO SEND YOU TO THE HOSPITAL. You have chest tightness, watch your words. Also if you had BODY ACHES, it would feel like you got hit by a truck and theyre all over. You have JOINT PAIN. Maybe if he had listened, he wouldve understood that the chest pain was from my cough. He kept saying I needed an EKG, when I knew I didnt because I dont have any cardiac issues. Additionally, he asked me why I didnt just see my primary and that hes frustrated with his patients. I was uncomfortable the entire appointment. Scripps is always has wonderful services, so I was shocked by his bedside manner.Scripps Health

I have called Scripps patient relations department four times in the last three business days and no one has called me back. My insurance is changing on 10/1 and I have a procedure scheduled on 10/4 that I desperately need, I worked with the new carrier to get my information loaded as quickly as possible so Scripps could submit for approval for an upcoming procedure two weeks ago, and Scripps refuses to go to my new carrier to get approval until after 10/1, so the approval may not come in before my procedure. I tried to go through the right channels and have been completely ignored. I called several departments and got the run-around, and then was referred to the patient relations department, to no avail. I cannot believe a patient calling with an issue is being completely ignored.Scripps Health

Ive been seeing ************************* periodically for the past 1.5 years and hes been personable and helpful. However, I started having problematic symptoms in May and took his first available appt, which was late august. I received a phone call in July that Dr * needed to reschedule my appt so his office pushed it back to September. Im having symptoms this entire time so am understandably frustrated at the 4 month time lag to see him. I messaged him via the portal a few times and he was responsive at first but then stopped responding. I am in excruciating discomfort every day so saw another GI dr at a different facility. The day of my sept appt finally rolls around and after waiting in the virtual waiting room for 45 minutes his medical asst calls me and says that since Ive seen another GI provider in the past few months, Dr * wont see me. She was incredibly rude about it, interrupting me, speaking to me at a very intense volume and tone, and they cancelled my appt day-of.Scripps Health

My issue is with Scripps Health Express. I tested positive for COVID19. I'm in the high risk sector, I'm a senior citizen with auto-immune disorder. I was having severe symptoms and my daughter informed me of an antiviral medication called PAXLOVID. I immediately went on my Scripps Portal and messaged my DR that I would like to be prescribed this medication. 3 days later (today Monday) I was advised that I needed to do a Virtual visit with Health Express. This medication needs to be administered 5 days after symptoms starts. Today was the last day.I logged in through my email on my cell phone. The person who I spoke with should not have been speaking to ANY patient. I am not sure why this person was even allowed to act in a PA capacity, she was certainly medically incompetent and could not make a decision.I knew I was going to have a problem when she kept asking me my address and if I lived in *****************????????? I was on a video call on my cell phone accessed through my email through the portal which has my picture on it, asking for a prescription to be called in to my local Pharmacy??I told her my only reason to be on the call was for her to call in the PAXLOVID to my pharmacy before it closed, so I would have it in time. She kept telling me about the side effects of this medication, which I had already familiarized myself with. Multiple times I explained to her that I had COVID before and I felt this medicine could help me. She expected me and told me to get in my car and go to the Scripps *********** and they would prescribe it. Of course by now it was 7pm and that particular location is 30 minutes from my house, which would have resulted in me driving back home at night, and by them my Pharmacy would have been closed, and my window to take this medication would have closed. WHY ?? when she was perfectly capable of just calling in this prescription. I think through her incompetence she still believed I didn't live in *******!!! Now I have to sufferScripps Health

Hello **********************,My name is ***** and I work for Scripps Patient Relations Department. We are sorry to hear about your current illness and the experience with your recent virtual visit with one of our PA's. I will notify the department leadership regarding this so that they may investigate further. Thank you and I wish you a speedy recovery.Marie S

Thank you, but my recovery would be a lot faster if your PA had respected my request. She was more interested in trying to convince me that she was acting in my best interest, instead of ACTING in my BEST INTEREST. Please verify that I was not charged for this wasted visit.Scripps Health

I made an *********** with my internist ************ in April to ensure that I can have an *********** in June. I did. However, in the morning of the 8:00 ***********, I received a phone calls at 7:10 of the cancellation. I went to the ****** not knowing of the cancellation. Upon checking in, the clerk didn't acknowledge I have any *********** and asked if I would like to reschedule with the dr.'s P.A. (Physician Assistant). First of all, patients are required to leave 24 hours notice of any cancellation. Does that policy not apply to doctor's cancellations? Secondly, Why would anyone exchange a legitimate doctor for a P.A.? The closest dr. *********** would be August. I informed the clerk that between my husband and me, we see 10 doctors at Scripps. I will look to SHARP for doctors. However, later on, I called the dr. ****** to reschedule an ***********. They have a time a week later. I would have been glad to have taken that *********** even if I had to reshuffle my schedule to see the Dr. I booked the *********** but cancelled when I found another internist. **************** clerk whom I spoke with sounded rude, vindictive, and retaliatory. If there is any hacking or personal information disclosure in the near future, I would have no doubt where the origin would come from.Scripps Health

Hello **************, We are sorry to hear of the missed communication from your providers office regarding the cancellation of your office visit. Unfortunately, if a provider wakes up and is ill and is unable to make it into the office it leaves that office no choice but to cancel the providers clinic for that day and try to reschedule these Pt's.We apologize for the inconvenience that this incident has caused and hope that we can do better to meet your expectations in future.Thank you,**************** Patient *********************Review fromKathy W
