Doctors are awesome but the billing department is far below expectations and here's why.The process Scripps takes is to submit the procedure for authorization and then once the procedure is done, the business department submits a claim. For 3 pain management procedures Scripps did not submit the claims to my insurance company after they were approved. This was verified through Cigna health and various lengthy calls.Cigna medical insurance approved three pain management procedures and has verified that Scripps never submitted a claim for those procedures and therefore never got paid. Scripps has submitted my account to ********************** Systems which is a debt collector for approximately $3300. I have continued to pay $200 or $100 each month since February of 2021 to cover my portion of expenses. In discussing this matter with the billing manager, she was disrespectful and rude claiming there is nothing she can do and only wanted to get off the phone. I asked for her managers name and I have left 3 messages and not been able to discuss this matter. The care that I received from my primary Drs. has been exceptional. My experience with the billing department on this matter is far below expectations. Looks like a lot of complaints with Scrippss billing department with many apologies and no path to improvement.

This clinic overcharges a ton!!! They charged me $500 just for walk in after insurance, not including lab or test. Most clinics only charge $200 for similar services before insurance. People there are rude and the doctor rushed to finish appointments while charging $500. I posted a bad and honest ****** review but they got my honest review removed. Not just mine, you don't see any bad review for the liberty station location. That place is a total scam.

Hello *********************, We see that you disputed the charges for the office visit you had and that our billing department review and resubmitted to your insurance company. It appears that your insurance company only covers 20% of the total cost of your visit and this is due to your deductible per plan agreement. I will send your complaint to site management who oversee the Health Express at Liberty station so they may follow up on the comments regarding staff and the provider who saw you during your visit.Thank you,************

Their billing system is a joke. My husband and I both called multiple times in an attempt to dispute a bill that shouldve been covered 100% by my insurance. We were hung up on, they repeated that they were right without offering a legitimate explanation, and ultimately I paid hundreds of dollars for a less than 45 min virtual visit for having a preventative care check-in, no care needed and no tests done. Their explanation was that I was a new patient. Needless to say, I will NEVER be going back. Worst experience of my life.

I have been having trouble getting information Question. Was my cyst different from original ultrasound and six months later when a needle biopsy was done. I have had a mammogram at Mission Valley, sent for a better mammogram up on Genesse. So, while getting the better mammogram something was seen so go to ultrasound. The concerns from MV were dismissed. The better mammogram issues were dismissed with ultrasound. The ultrasound found another cyst (#3) which was to be needle biopsied that very visit.I refused the biopsy telling two people in the room that I wanted to wait to see if it changed prior to getting a needle biopsy. Apparently, this is not part of the Scripps plan. The letter sent to file did not say compare in 6 months. It simply said expires two weeks. Since that paper only said biopsy NOT my intentions, when I went to appt. there was no comparison between original ultrasound and 6 months later ultrasound- strictly biopsy no discussion of differences in cyst. I thought well it will be compared after the biopsy. Wrong no comparison was done. The cyst was benign, but I still was sent to surgeon for surgery consult to remove approximately 1 "by 1"x 1/2"of my breast to be sure it benign. ****** but atypical ductal hyperplasia. Again, no mention if the cyst had changed in 6 months.Well, it has been over a month. I have emailed two doctors multiple times; I still cannot get a response to has the cyst changed. Why do a needle biopsy if it doesn't matter if it is benign or not?Why are photos not taken during needle biopsy? Why is a waiting to observe option not written in my original report? Why are mammogram results not listed in test results- like x-rays and blood work? you have to search for it.How can I be expected to make a decision for surgery, when I cannot find out if the cyst has grown. Why is my question of no importance? My opinion is that its Scripps's way or good luck. I cannot get answers from Scripps.

I had an annual physical 2 months ago that was supposed to be covered 100% but I was surprised to receive a bill where it was only 30% covered. I had a follow up visit that was supposed to be 80% covered but it also was only 30% covered.i called to ask about the bill and after I waited an hour I was hung up on. I called back and after waiting 45 minutes I received a very poor explanation including that this was an establishing visit [I had switched primary Care positions because my previous primary Care position had left scripts]. I also received an explanation that it seems like questions that I had during the physical result in me being charged.

2 months ago I had a work related injury. Even after both myself and my *************** gave Scripps our workers compensation insurance information and claim number. Ive done this at least 4 times now. Yet, Scripps still calls me asking for payment.Im not from ********** and glad I use the VA Hospital. Scripps is the main hospitals in ********* and if I didnt use the VA I would move back to my home state. If you have a choice, dont use Scripps. Now wait for the generic response from Scripps this is not the experience you want to have. Its coming to the point where I will hire a lawyer.

I have always had a great experience with scripps until they just billed for an annual, preventative exam. Billing is borderline illegal. you can't bill for an annual exam. so, they said that patient actually talked to the doctor about a concern so that's $40. You can't talk to your doctor about your health during a health check up??

Scripps Rancho ******** takes advantage of seniors. My wife went in for her welcome to ******** visit. She understood the rules of the welcome to ******** visit. At the end of her visit her doctor asked her if she had anything she'd like to discuss, in effect prompting her for more discussion. My wife told the doctor her shoulder was bothering her. The doctor did a 1 minute check of her shoulder and wrote her a referral for physical therapy. We got a **** for $180 instead of a $0 **** for the welcome to ******** visit. After countless phone calls to Scripps, they said they would review the case. 6 months later yesterday, Scripps sent a two sentence explanation that they reviewed the case and we owe them $180. What a scam!!!!

I went to my OBGYN yesterday at Oceanside and was turned away for bringing my 2 month old with me to my appt. for birth control. There were signs all over the waiting room saying "no children no exceptions", upon entering I was asked by the receptionist if I had received an email regarding the new policy and I replied "no". She said she would try to get me in, after a few minutes of waiting she said "because of COVID and we don't know who will watch your baby at your appt, you have to reschedule". I was very surprised and confused by this...first of all COVID has been around for 2 years now and I've NEVER seen those signs the whole time I was going there for my pregnancy appts. Secondly, he's 2 months old in a stroller.. he doesn't need someone to watch him since he was going to sit in the stroller with me in the room, if he cried during the procedure, he could wait until I was done it wouldn't be a big deal since it was going to be quick anyway. Lastly, he's still considered to be a newborn at 2 months old, and is only on breastmilk right now. I do pump and bottle his milk, but what if a new mom was breastfeeding her baby only and has to be with her baby 24/7? Would she be turned away from her birth control appt because of her decision to exclusively breastfeed, or if her baby doesn't take a bottle would she be asked to leave as well for bringing her newborn? On top of that appt in-of itself, I booked that appt weeks in advance, took off work early (I run a daycare so I had to inconvenience all my clients to pick up early so I can go to my appt), and drove 50 minutes from ******** to be there. There was no way even if I did get the email, that I could get a sitter (considering I AM the sitter for other people's children) and my husband was at work all day. The whole situation was ridiculous and beyond frustrating, very disappointed in this clinic..

I wanted to set up a primary care physician and address a stomach pain I had a month prior. I had my appointment on the 07/13/2022 and the doctor ordered some tests. Test results were ready on the 07/18/2022. After that I waited for 11 days for someone to call me back and let me know what's next. I messaged the doctor through myscripps and didn't hear anything. I called the office number after few days and they said the nurse will call me the same day. Again, nothing. I decided to write another message, but this time it wasn't a polite one. Needless to say, the doctor responded the same day. If I didn't I probably wouldn't hear for days. During my appointment the doctor took 10 min to explain to me what primary care means and how I should not waste his time by addressing other issues I might have. Well, he wasted my time by trying to get a response for 11 days, but I guess that's ok since I am the patient?! Not to mention how much I was charged for 20 min appointment (30 total minus his time to educate me). Outrageous! I won't be using Scripps services in the future, total disregard for patients and their health.
