The site advertises that they offer "free" reports. But then after making you wait a ridiculous amount of time they tell you that to read the report you need to subscribe to their site. Not even an option to just buy the one report... I don't see how this can be considered a "free" report in any way... they create it for free but you must pay to read it? Total false advertising and lies. Wasted my time going through the site just to be told I need to pay to read results. That needs to be disclosed right away.Business Response

The privacy monitoring service I'm subscribed to alerted me that Truthfinder has my personal information. When attempting to remove it from their website, I found out that they're gatekeeping my privacy rights by wanting more personal information, while other sites only require you to confirm a link sent to your email address. I want my information permanently removed from Truthfinder and its affiliates. I also request that they email me where they got my information.Business Response

Upon searching the internet for information on how to obtain Marriage License copies, my search provided the following resource: ourpublicrecords.org The heading to this link once opened state's 'Marriage License. Find the records you need now, search with TRUTHFINDER'. Under this section which asks for names and where to search for marriage documents, the user (myself) can clearly read 'Brought to You By TRUTHFINDER'. I then proceed to enter all the information necessary, knowing ****** secured will keep my entries safe according to the website. Once you enter initial information, you are redirected to truthfinder.com website. After finally getting through the prompts once there to obtain numerous public records, then it's time to pay for this service. I paid full amount for a month. I only needed information on what counties my parents got both married and divorced, as they both were done in separate locations. Once paid, your allowed to view information such as addresses, phone numbers, and people associated with a person. NO MARRIAGE documents are provided nor is there any verbage pertaining to marriage used at all. So, I contacted TRUTHFINDER and the agent attempts to find the information I need about Marriage documents. He seemed surprised almost during his search to get me to what I needed. He then says TRUTHFINDER does not provide Marriage documents any longer and they are provided by the counties in which they occurred. I asked him why was I lead to believe and given FALSE ADVERTISING that led me to pay for a deceptive service that was NOT honored in the end. I said I've paid and wish to have my money back. He proceeds to send a message to his support team and then explains TRUTHFINDER is not held responsible for other websites using their name and service. Basically telling me I'm at fault.I then asked to have service cancelled. I'm still receiving notifications from TRUTHFINDER and I specifically asked the agent to be sure this is not possilble.Business Response

This company is guilty of deception and false advertising. When I go to a site which states that the site provides free, PUBLIC information, I waste time by adding the name, etc,, for which I am searching and that free search hijacks me to Truthfinder! Then, this monopoly wants to change a fee for a search that was free at one time and which the public records site falsely advertised as free. Is there a class action about this ? I was seeking information on my neighbors who have been harassing me for over 3 years. When I went to pay both of my banks fraud alert & denied payment.Once I resolved those issues I went back to pay. Note came back that my email address was already being used. Of course it was. Under normal circumstances, when a user activates an account with **********************, they must provide an electronic signature authorizing TruthFinder to charge their card, including for the automatic renewal of their membership. Our Billing Terms are conspicuously explained on our registration page and in our Terms of Use. Customers are sent a confirmation email upon signup. If a user completes their initial search inquiry but does NOT enter their payment information, they will not be charged and no membership will be created.
In the event of proclaimed fraud, TruthFinder requests the billed recipient contact us first to ensure the account in question is thoroughly investigated. When this claim can be justifiably substantiated, the account in question is disabled from further use, all memberships to be cancelled, and all charges to be returned to the payment option used (up to 12 months due to system limitations).
All unauthorized ******** to ********************** payment option used to enroll were not processed, and no further charges will be incurred. My card notified me of fraud by this company. I have contacted the company via email and they don't answer them. They charge a membership fee for this information, and you only get the same info you can get by googling it. If you want more info then they charge you more for that. They are a scam operation. They certainly don't tell you prior to the membership charge that you'll be charged for each item you want. So it's just another scam.Business Response

I recently needed to look up a criminal record and found TRUTH Finders. As I continued with the website it only gave me to options to move forward a box for a 2 month subscription or a box for a 4 month subscriptions. I had to choose one to continue and that would be the subscription I would have if I continued. So I chose the first box then it proceeded to let me fill out what I needed. After I was done I went right to cancel because I was not interested in it. I did so so they would not charge me. But they proceeded to charge me anyway. This was on February 20, 2024, assuming all was good I noticed a charge for $3.99 and $46.56 on the 21st of FebruarY. I Dont feel I should have to pay for this since I canceled.Business Response
