This website aggregates information that is not particularly easy to find or compile and aggregates them so that all your personal information pops up when you ****** a person's name. Aggregating this information and posting it so that all the places I've lived, my relative's names, addresses, phone numbers, etc. come up first thing in a ****** search is a huge invasion of privacy and a security and safety concern. Truthfinder does not provide an easy or straight forward way to remove your profile from their site. They want you to submit a "suppression request" and will only approve it if you can show that you have access to the email or phone accounts that they think you own. As such, I was not able to complete this request for myself or my spouse via the "suppression request." I think it's important to note that this is a for profit company, not a public or mandatory service. They pay for people's information so that they can post it and then get others to pay to access it. I should not need to jump through hoops before this third party company will take remove my information that THEY chose to buy, aggregate, and post. Every other similar for-profit company/website that compiles and posts individuals' personal information has an opt-out option on their website that does not require additional information to be submitted. These companies are all so gross and should be illegal, but this one takes the cake. It's slanderous to post flags on people's profiles stating that an individual has criminal records when they absolutely do not. They need to remove the profiles that I've attached to this request ASAP.Business Response

I have requested Truthfinder.com to remove my personal information from their website first on 8/30/2023, second on 09/05/2023. Truthfinder.com has refused to remove my information stating that I need to use their services to remove my personal information. The right of publicity prevents the unauthorized commercial use of an individual's name, likeness, or other recognizable aspects of one's persona. Other information that I have no clue as to how I would answer since I didn't order this in the first place. Like Alternate name, alternate email, Pay Pal transaction ID.

Under normal circumstances, when a user activates an account with TruthFinder, they must provide an electronic signature authorizing TruthFinder to charge their card, including for the automatic renewal of their membership.
Our Billing Terms are conspicuously explained on our registration page and in our Terms of Use. Customers are sent a confirmation email upon signup. If a user completes their initial search inquiry but does NOT enter their payment information, they will not be charged and no membership will be created.
In the event of proclaimed fraud, TruthFinder requests the billed recipient contact us first to ensure the account in question is thoroughly investigated. When this claim can be justifiably substantiated, the account in question is disabled from further use, all memberships to be cancelled, and all charges to be returned to the payment option used (up to 12 months due to system limitations).
After a thorough investigation, we were unable to locate an account with the information provided. In order to meet ******* *****’s expectations, we request all applicable information listed below:

I called Truthfinder to give them the information they wanted. However, once I explained the situation, she hung up on me. I, then responded to their email on September 7,2023 giving them what information I could since I didn't sign up for this.
I wrote to them again asking for a response on September 11th. I am at lost on what else I can do and hopefully, through the BBB, I can get to the bottom of this. I am worried that they will continue to bill me for this when I did not sign up for this service.

After more calls to the Truthfinder's Office, first speaking with a Javor, who actually hung up on me, a second person to do this since I explain that I am deaf, using a close captain phone. I called back and spoke with a Shelby. I was on the phone with her for quiet some time. She was to call me back by yesterday with an update. She never did. I just got off the phone with an Owen. First off, after explaining the close captain business, he actually swore using Jesus's name in vain not realizing my close captain would pick it up. Yes, he apologized profusely, but that is not very nice and I told him so. Again, I was told, cannot find the credit card or account that I NEVER set up. I am told that I have to let my Credit Card Company take care of this matter. When I asked the Credit Card Company in the past, I was told that they would have to issue me a new credit card which is VERY inconvenient for me. Not only on waiting to get the new card, but notifying businesses of the new card number for my monthly billing.
I want this to go on record of how they do business and to warn other people of their unethical business practices.

How many times do they want to continue to repeat their same form letter when I have responded in various ways as well as phone calls and emails???? We are not getting anywhere and they are avoiding their mistake.
I am wondering how many other people have been scammed by doing the same thing to others as they have done to me?????
As of this point, I am done. No more charges had been made to my credit card. I will just write off the charge to my account and I will post an negative comment and warn others of their shenanigans.

Signed up for online service called TruthFinder.com and have tried to cancel my recurring charges. Had no intent to use the service but once. Charged for several months before I realized it. Paid all those charges and tried to cancel online and message said I was locked out of my account. Tried to call. A 15 minute wait message. Waited and when the operator came on she acted as if she couldnt hear me from my end. Said I need to call back. Next time longer wait. A chargeback is a dispute with their financial institution, and they will receive an update directly from them regarding the resolution. Generally, the dispute process takes between four and five weeks.

I was looking for a loved **********. Truthfinder came up as an option. I never purchased or ordered their service. Yet, weeks later I still bet harassed with dozens of alert notifications from them with various gimmicks to try and solicit me to obtain their services. I reached out and indicated was not interested and please leave me alone. They have not. Today I requested a refund from ************ for "Deceptive Practices". Yesterday, upon subscribing and typing in the person's name, I was led to believe that the information I received would be shocking. I subscribed but could not download the information until I paid an additional download fee of $4.29 in addition to the $30.19 that I paid for the subscription. Upon opening the report, I not only discovered that there was little to no information and what little there was, was either irrelevant or incorrect. I called ************ to request a full refund (two separate PayPal transactions); however, the agent would not confirm that I would be receiving a full refund. I persisted and stated numerous times, the reason for my request. She finally said that I would receive a full refund in the amount of $34.48; however, the email I received from them did not confirm that and only indicated that my subscription had been cancelled. When I called *************, and before I was transferred to the agent, an automated message advised me to stay on the line to answer a survey; however, when our call ended, the agent would not hang up from the call so that I could leave my feedback. This company is using Deceptive Practices at every level including instructing it's agents to avoid refunding subscriptions for legitimate complaints. This website known as truthfinder have been illegally and with unauthorized permission have been using my name, my information, my likeness and my address also information relating to my relatives and loved ones on their website with malicious intent and borderline defamation characteristics against me, my name, and my life. This type of unauthorized use of my information and background check has caused many of problems such as encounters with police, trying to apply for jobs and community opportunities, and meeting people who are curious to know who I am. They have Information on their site claiming that I have drug dealing charges, threatening my neighbors charges, speeding tickets and traffic related charges, and assault charges claiming I have FELONIES on my record when the only town I lived in lake county has ALL of my cases and public records on file in which I was NEVER convicted of having felonies of any kind!!! They also lie saying I lived in the ****************, NEVER in my life have I lived in the **************** at all and their info claims I have charges in ********, ******* that is ridiculous. This company also has terrible reviews from other people with stories like how this company made fraudulent!! charges on their credit card without warning when trying to run background searches! These people are scammers!! So I would want to make a plea in which they take down and remove all information on their website regarding my name, my life, and my background which is in fact FALSE, people like me are very sick of this online slander of our character and personal information and if we cant agree to have this false information removed from their website we as a people need to hold these slanderous companies accountable for defamation in court!! So I would appreciate a response from this company truthfinder so we can move forward from this! Thank you!Business Response
