      Square deactivated my account for 90 days holding my funds. This is completely exhausting. I informed them I can provide proof of everything and they still held my money. I will never use square again nor recommend them to ANY ONE!

      Terrible customer service. If you ********************** account gets hacked, you are never going to get it back. You totally screwed. They can only verify accounts by name and email so if your log in was changed without your knowledge that's it. You have to make a new account. This goes for business accounts too. Don't use this company if you want security you will not get it here.

      I currently started using square in May 2025 got an email saying I need to process more credit card payment so I did stop taking cash and I got more as a few days ago. They closed my account. I started putting all of my money in their account and using it keep track of everything and because I have almost ****** in sales in a week they flagged me and shut me down but yet the month before cash sales recorded in the month before that was 20 and ******. I sell dog stuff and Im a dog breeder Grooming and doggy daycare. I really loved their service up in town. They decided to shut down my account no warning even though Payment from Good Dog were coming in as refunds which were just deposit. from my Good Dog account, which is secured payment from happy Owner. I wasnt given a chance to explain myself. I was just frozen after I took a payment that I had to refund client for doggy daycare for there pet that had 4 grand worth of vet bills and me nursing them back to health I took their payment to cover their doggy daycare while I was nursing their baby for two weeks back to health and I didnt get a receipt contacted. Customer support said client said they received an email. I dont see it on my end with her car charged cause I dont want to accidentally charge their card. The second time they said no their card was charged waited hours and hours and hours probably seven hours later I get an email saying my account was deactivated, but they were holding funds until October 7. I dont know any business owner who doesnt have a scale of prices on different items anytime they have question a sale I have made. I have given them accuracy and proof just kind of leaves the sour taste in my mouth for a company who literally just started business with me was OK when I was taking tons of cash payments, but their emails kept saying oh increase your sales by taking more card payments and I do and it bites me in the button. They shut down my account. Ill stick to cash payments

      Complaint Type: Problem with a Product or Service Business Name: Square, Inc.Business Address: ****************************************************** Website: ************************************ Description of the Complaint:We are a long-standing business with a high transaction volume (over $1M annually) using Square as our payment processor. A recent customer initiated a chargeback citing "goods or services not as described."We provided all required evidence to Square, including the product listing, descriptions, and clear return policy indicating that the customer was welcome to return the item for a full refund. The merchandise was never returned, yet Square ruled in favor of the customer and withdrew the funds from our account.Despite following all proper protocols and providing extensive documentation, we were denied any recourse. We were informed there is no appeal process.The most troubling aspect of this experience was the complete lack of effective support from Square. We were transferred multiple times, placed on hold repeatedly, and ultimately dismissed by an account representative who did not acknowledge our concernseven when we mentioned our intent to close the account. The representative showed no regard for our business relationship or the seriousness of the chargeback decision.This situation sets a dangerous precedent: a customer can falsely claim an issue, keep the merchandise, and still receive a full refundleaving the business with a financial loss and no path to resolution.Desired Outcome:We are requesting:A formal review and reconsideration of the chargeback decision.Clarification on Square's merchant protection practices.Accountability for the poor handling of our support case.Assurance that this will not happen again, especially for high-volume, rule-compliant merchants.

      I made an account 2 weeks ago for my new small business for me to take payments while at an event. I was able to take payments at the event and everything was great but NOW, as of this morning, my account has been unjustly deactivated. I have been fighting with Square to finish verification of my account since the beginning of this week (it is currently Friday). They asked for all my info and then this morning said they can no longer support doing business with my small business... no explanation besides that blanket statement. I called support and they told me there is nothing they can do or tell me about the deactivation and that the money I have in my Square account is going to be held for 90 days just incase there is "disputes with any charges". when really it is for them to collect on the interest that MY MONEY is collecting for them holding onto it. I am extremely disappointed in this company and would like the tiny chunk of change I have in my account so I can give it to the fundraiser I was at and then move one with working with another POS for in person sales cuz' this is beyond unprofessional and ridiculous. Again, I worked with you guys ALL WEEK to get this situated AFTER I had made sales already and now you are holding my money hostage (and other users' money as well from other posts I have seen) AND deactivated my account with no hopes of reactivation with NO good/proper explination.

      I was sharing my concern about the wording on the email that stated that over $2,000 would be drafted from mu account. Well this statement was false but was very jarring. I was attempting to share my concerns about the wording and the customer service *** ignored my concerns about the wording by talking over me and when she stated that she would submit a complaint, I asked her what she was going to submit? She said, "that you dont like how the email is worded." It would have been helpful for her to listen, so the concern could be respected and honored. The message was horribly written and alarming. Nothing was accurate on the original message and I was requesting that attention be brought to this and corrected. The customer service *** was extremely rude and hung up on me. I am ready to move from Square because not only do my payment links not work half the time, now I can not even voice concern without being talked over and disrespected.

      After I opened a new account and received a payment from a customer for $2700.00 they deactivated my account and held the money for 90 days. We have a legit business.When I called, none of the representatives could hardly speak English or could you even be heard through the muffle of the phone. I have kids to take care of. Use someone else!

      DO NOT USE SQUARE!!!!! I recently had a dispute opened with my company for a transaction of $6,400.00. Square sent me an alert to let me I have until the 21st of the month to respond to the dispute. On the 15th square already debited my account for the full $6,400.00 before allowing us time to respond with our documents. The customer had already contacted their bank and sent us a cancelation letter stating that the dispute was canceled. This same letter was uploaded to square and they still state that this issue will still need to take 3 months to be solved. Leaving your money in the hands of a company that will not protect their clients.

      they put my account on hold for more info i gave them all the info i only gave them 1 bank statements instead of 3 they closed my account for good i asked to speak to a supervisor they refused to transfer me this is robbery i have to pay my supplier's and they will keep $5400 for 90 days what a shame

      These people just stole from me. I jumped through every hoop they asked of me. I didnt skip a beat and then they message saying they have to deactivate my account and they are holding my funds for 120 days now that my customer paid me!!!! Wtf do I do now cause Im about to get sued by my customer for these f*** heads s******* people over. Anyone have this same issue?
