Checkr does background checks on almost all major businesses (Uber, Amazon, Target, etc).. They illegally have an AI doing them without human supervision that is (unsurprisingly) sending out fake, false, and unasked for reports, also highly illegal. The staff and "support" are extremely rude and when calling they repeatedly try to get you to do things that will absolutely make the problems get worse, like turning off all your capacity to have backgrounds run through Checkr when much of the time they are the only ones who can do them for any given company. They laugh over the phone while people's lives are destroyed, like mine, who had been hars at work 5 years for a company that they work with, their system sent out a flawed background to my company and now I have no income. They have stolen ***** from my income the past few weeks, ***** im hospital panic attack visits and subsequent psychiatrist visits, and ***** in late repair costs that would have been far cheaper than if my income had been stolen. Your support "employee" *******, who is WORSE than a robot or some outsourced dingbat, also LIED to me as I have official documentation that my company didnt ASK for a background check, but that's what she claimed. Your company is full of ***holes and one of the biggest ones is the *** owner of the whole company, I guess the attitude really is top-down.*************************** is the biggest fraud, building a "utopian, fast, and correct background checker" -- it's none of those things. *************************** is just another greasy dirtbag who profits on people's misery and doesn't actually care if his software functions properly. He won't, either, because he thinks with his chaga latte in his hand at the top of his SF tower that somehow he is above the law, or morality. Someone should shut this company down, its not borderline illegal it is *illegal* and at this point far too often doing life-threatening things to people illegally.Business Response

Ive been forced to use this company, Checkr, twice now in my life. And each time they fall so far from what they state the turnaround time will be for the background check they provide. First, I did it with ****, and they told me it would only take a week, and it ended up taking six weeks. Now here I am again with Uber, forced to use checkr , and it said, oh, we will have your background check in 3 to 5 business *********** I am @ four weeks later again, still waiting. Companies should be fined for false advertising or for not delivering their service and the time that they state. You know when we tell the company that were going to pay a certain bill on a certain date and if we dont, we get fined. There are consequences. What are the consequences for this company? NOTHING. Its so unfair. And to make matters worse, its like theyre completely aware that they have horrible turnaround tones bec if u call their #, as theres a recording that tells you that you cant ask for representative to ask about your background check. It says that they wont have any information. It says you cant email because no ones gonna have any information. You cant chat on the website with a human because theyre gonna tell you that theres no information. Theres no reason for such a long way, theres no courthouses with any type of long waiting times Ive already checked. Ive been trying to get on with Uber for the past three months and they do background checks with Chekr which is the company Im filling the complaint about. Theyve been nothing but a nuisance. They have my zip code off by one digit.My zip is ***** and they have ***** which Im sure is causing this unprecedented wait time and I feel like no progress is being made and theirs no way to talk to a actual person to fix this. Uber is the one that sends the info to them and they have my info correctly so that points to someone in checkr who made the typo thats causing this absurd wait time. No way to contact them. Theirs hundreds of threads online of how bad they are at their job! How are they still in business? How is the well being of people put in the hands of this highly unprofessional company. Checkr runs background checks based off of the information submitted by you or the company you applied with. As a result, we are unable to change the submitted information. If your zip code is incorrect on your report, please contact Uber directly so that they can update the information or request a new report if needed.
As for your Uber report, it's in the final stage of completing county searches. The *** is currently Nov 23, 2022. Please note that this is only an estimated completion date. We cannot guarantee when a report will complete. While most reports do complete in 3 to 7 business days, some can take longer depending on the counties and courts being searched.

Amazon it is running my background check with Checkr, and it's been ridiculous, first was on hold because of an ** issue I've submitted the photo twice and they sent an email twice saying that the document uploaded was unrelated, I filed a ticket and now they are saying their is an issue with my SSN so they didn't say anything about the ** but now is SSN, I've seen so many issues with this company, they should get real people on chat or on the phone to solve the issues that candidates have with their service since they are impacting our economyBusiness Response

Last Thursday I reached out to Checkr as I was trying to drive for Grubhub again. When I reapplied, ******* told me that I had to go through Checkr to refute that I am still not eligible to drive for them again. I haven't had any tickets or accidents in the last 4 and a half years so there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to come back aboard now. Nevertheless, they told me that the process starts with "refutuing" it via the Checkr portal. When I logged in my completed background check with ******* was no longer available for me to refute it through as it has been more than a year old so I contacted them to let them know that I need access to it. I made it very clear to the girl that I spoke to at Checkr (they recorded the conversation and I guarantee if they pull it up you'll see that what I'm saying is true) that was only in regards to *******. I also mentioned to her that the only thing I can think of that would be an issue is my 4 and a half year old open container ticket could still be considered a major violation with *******. Please note that that is entirely different from me refuting the accuracy of my background check and saying that I didn't really have an open container ticket on the reported date and time. Checkr wound up contacting almost every company that I've ever applied for with them informing them that I am disputing the accuracy of my background check which I never was. Furthermore when I made it ******* clear that it was only in reference to *******, why on Earth would they contact all these other companies? They got me locked out of Uber and cost me at least 500 dollars so far. Uber is my full time job. I called and emailed Checkr on Friday telling them to fix this and still have not heard a response. I'm still locked out of my account. They owe me 150 dollars for every continuing day that I'm locked out so as of today they owe me 650 dollars for preventing me from being able to work. It is true that Checkr eventually contacted Uber and I was able to log in and work again but I was prevented from doing my full time job for 4 and a half days because of them so I feel like 650 dollars (150 a day) is appropriate compensation. I know that BBB themselves do not provide compensation. It's Checkr that needs to compensate me for money lost after they unjustly prevented me from being able to work for a whole weekend plus. The just reponse from Checkr is to send me at least 650 dollars because I lost at least this much money due to an egregious error on their part.Initial Complaint

On 9/26/22 Checkr run a background for Uber.I did not get a full clearance of my background check despite of my spotless background of criminal and driving. Instead my Uber account is deactivated and created many aliases by messing up name.I want Checkr to remove all the aliases Checkr created and just put my old and new names. Checkr is so messed up it contaminated the candidate it is being served with very poor service.Business Response

Checkr has charged my credit card for a background check for an employee candidate, which they were unable and refused to run for me due to a technicality, and officially cancelled on their side. A month after cancellation, their automated system charged my card anyway, as someone did not do their job to take it out of the queue. They have stated that they will not reverse the charge. I have emailed and called to no avail. You cannot charge someone's credit card for a service you did not provide. This will be a slam dunk at Mastercard to reverse it, but I feel this company needs to learn from this mistake and change their system so it is not charging people erroneously. At the very least, they should have admitted they made a mistake and taken care of reversing the charge immediately, like any other legitimate company in the US. I would have ordered more background checks from this company if I hadn't been taken advantage of, but not now that they have committed fraud. Please see all attachments. I am rejecting this response because: I was told by the support agents today that they were only giving me a "credit" to my Checkr account to use towards future purchases. I am asking for a full refund to my credit card, as I believe that is the honest and correct remedy for this situation. I believe they have used the language "credit" to further postpone the correction of this account. Credit should not be confused with "refund" or "reversal" of charge. Thank you for your help in getting this resolved. I look forward to accepting the solution in the future.

I cannot get a number or representative to assist. I used to drive for uber eats and wanted to do it again. A few months ago i didn't renew my acct and therefore it expired. I added my car and insurance to ubers app but im unable to get the background going with checker. I don't have a current one pending and when i enter info it said nothing is on file. Of course it's not on file ??, i simply would like to get someone who knows how to do this simple thing on the phone to help get this going.
